Dr. Thomas Clark Banever

Did some research before hernia surgery, very disappointed in most of the drs.i was referred to. Remembered dr banever from years ago went on his website and read the reviews of many people especially with the same problem. Nothing but good, and I agree. Besides being an awesome, talented dr.,he teaches compassionate surgery, and it shows. Surgery was at Harford hospital and every person that I encountered from the minute I walked through the door was nothing but polite, caring and professional. I went to Dr Banever's office a few years ago at the suggestion of my PCP. The first thing I noticed when I walked into his waiting room, was how old and dirty the waiting room and furniture looked. Once I entered the exam, the equip looked like it was from the dark ages. The examine table actually had what looked like dandruff on the table!!! When his assistant came in to take my blood pressure, I thought there was something different about her. I later realized this was the same women at the front desk, she did not have on med scrubs and was told during my consult that she was his daughter. When the doctor came in to to exam me I REFUSED to lie down on that exam table until he disinfected it! As if that wasn't enough to make a person run for the hills, I had to go into his office to discuss his findings and his office was so junky, and dirty. He had the nerve to tell my PCP in a ltr that I was acting negatively because of his office conditions. He was unprofess in his writeup!

I wish there were more reviews on here for Dr. Banever because he deserves them. I confirmed a suspicion that I may have an inguinal hernia in summer 2018 with my primary. He sent me to a surgeon who discussed surgery with me using a mesh. I did months of research because I didn’t want to have a mesh. After finally finding out about the Shouldice repair, I started asking questions which involved a couple more doctors visits to finally find Dr. Banever. For those who don’t know, the shouldice repair is far superior than a mesh repair as it is a strong tissue repair with no foreign bodies such as a mesh. I met with Dr B in the autumn and he is a fantastic person. Extremely personable and high spirited. We scheduled my surgery in December. While the whole thing can vary by person, Dr B did an extremely good job in repairing the hernia and explaining what I needed to do to take care after. I had no post op complications and healed quickly and nicely. I waited until now to review to give my body plenty of time to heal internally. It’s been almost 9 months since surgery which included a lot of physical work since then and I have no discomfort or pain. It actually feels like I never had a hernia to begin with since there’s no tension as might be experienced with the modified bassini or mcvay procedures. Highly highly recommend anybody with an inguinal hernia to visit Dr. Banever for the shouldice repair. I wish there were more reviews on here for Dr. Banever because he deserves them. I first met him for an examination for worker's comp during which he suggested different procedures that could be tried to repair nerve damage from a double hernia operation. He was the only surgeon to suggest anything out of the 7 I saw; all the rest said nothing could be done. He performed surgery for me on June 5, 2020 and it feels like he did a good job. I recommend him very highly as he knows more than other surgeons and is also a very nice guy to have for a doctor.

3rd hernia repair botched up at Yale, Dr Banever will operate 5/28/20. Since this is in the same exact area for the 3rd time, this highly skilled and through surgeon will do the pre-opt visit and explain to me what he intends to do. In addition, I'll know what to expect and my experience with him tells me, it will be done as planned.

This is the one! A great Dr, person, and gentle man. A skilled, does his homework Dr. and talks to you like a friend. Don't hesitate to call him!

He explained the procedure, told me what to expect and took good care of me during and after surgery. He is very friendly and empathetic and I would recommend him without doubt. His handwriting is a little hard to understand but other than that everything went very smoothly. :)
