First time seeing this doctor. She was very polite and helpful to her intern that was with her. She discussed other procedures that she recommended not related to my visit. Kindness goes a long way.

Um. WOW. Dr. Tan and her team at both the Hampton AND Newport News offices are, simply put, OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!! Dat part. LolzzZzz!!!

Dr Tan is a good OB/Gun doctor, but her Office staff is very "incompetent," and not efficient. This Doctor needs really to check her Office staff, because it takes everything away from her patients and their health care! The Staff here are very "incompetent" -- in NOT following orders, too many mistakes; and a severe lack of concern on the part of Office staff! It is NOT a good Office staff -- at all! Very friendly, but not efficient! NO one gets back to you, when you call this Doctor, which shows a severe lack of concern for patients and their health care! No one ever gets back to you! She really needs to get a better "competent" Office staff. They are NOT efficient. Being "nice" does not replace being "efficient" or "competent" in your Office work! It ruins her Practice. Pathetic place bad doctor, DONT ever go there. Bad service. they will not treat you well. SInce last few days I am waiting on my report and they have not shared yet. Bad doctor, she does not know anything. Dont risk your life.

Bad experience: They mistakenly gave me my third HPV vaccine on the wrong date, despite having asked multiple times to be sure the dates were correct. I have been calling since last week to speak to the nurse about this matter and have been told they will call back but they don’t.

She's one of the best doctor experience that I've ever had. I recommend her to everyone in need of a good doctor.

Dr. Tan is knowledgeable. However, her bedside manner leaves something to be desired. She provides information much like a pharmaceutical commercial. She will clearly explain a diagnosis, but then go into all of the things that could go wrong without giving any time to process. Then she will offer a "supportive" hand on the shoulder and be on her way. Healthcare in general, but especially reproductive health. She comes off as slightly rigid. I have left her twice now feeling more conflicted about my healthcare than when I went in to the office.

I am sorry to make this comment because I liked Dr Tan, but she gave me the Nexplanon without told me about side effects, I’m been spotting ( non stop) 3 months now, it has persisted today. It’s annoying and the worst thing I noticed that I am losing a lot of hair during these two months, like half of my hair lost. Don’t tell me because I just delivered a baby six months ago, because this is my second kid, I didn’t lost a load of hair when I had my first one. It’s definitely Nexplanon. I hate it! I want my hair back! I’m scheduled on November 5th for removal because I really can't bare with this. i'm so afraid too that my hair won't stop falling in an instant. Dr. Tan was a godsend for me. I was told that I couldn’t have children by multiple doctors due to consecutive miscarriages. I had given up, and went to this practice to get a long term birth control. It was my luck that that day my husband and I ended up with Dr. Tan. She requested my history and asked what brought me in. I told her. She then asked “But, why can’t you have children?” I told her I didn’t know, just that other doctors had said so. She then questioned “Do you want children?” I answered emphatically “Yes!” “ Then no birth control, let’s figure out what is wrong.” I now have 3 healthy beautiful children and one due in September. I was coming in for some birth control and she was super professional yet so relaxed about the whole thing. I was feeling self conscious about my reasons for wanting birth control but she quickly told me that their was nothing selfish about it. I really loved her manners and would 100% see her again!

Due to coronavirus, my postpartum follow-up was a virtual visit with Dr Tan. She was easy to talk to and knowledgeable. She and her staff made me feel like they were there for me.

Doctors and midwifes are great but overal the staff over books , messes up schedules and gives you excuses you sit and wait an hour after your appointment time and it’s always something they run out of rooms and give the run around . I loved TPMG at first .

This is ridiculous because I really need to speak with someone and I’m not able to drop by the office. I am not sure how to rate this Dr office. The office staff is friendly and the medical staff seems knowledgeable and some what friendly. I say somewhat because they are always extremely busy and packed so the staff is always moving. I have never once had an on time visit there ia always a 45+ minute wait after my appointment time, so if ur leaving work or planning to go back it is extremely inconvenient. Dr Tan is the only obgyn I would ever go to she has the best bedside manners always explains things to me in a way I can understand, she is always available to am answer my questions she helped me get pregnant, delivered my baby, tied my tubes, don’t my uterine ablation and most recently performed my hysterectomy her and her nurses are amazing I will say the front desk people can be very very rude and there usually is a long wait time to be seen BUT Dr. Tan is worth every second of the wait time! My first visit here was the first time I’d ever had a doctor sit down in an office with me and explain the procedure that was going to take place. She made sure I asked all questions and she answered them all so I fully understood what was going to happen before. She is very thorough and caring of her patients!

I have many issues with endometriosis pain, very irregular and long cycles, etc.. Dr. Tan, and the rest of the staff, have always been compassionate and kind. They remember prior medical history and are understanding and sympathetic to pain issues, you are not treated like a drug seeker or someone who is overreacting about pain. One of the sweetest doctors I have ever had. She listens to you and she is so patient. She also has a very hard job that the average person would not be able to handle. Dr. Tan is the best! She explains things in a way that someone without much knowledge of medical terminology can understand. She takes time to explain what the appointment is for and what she will do BEFORE she does it. She is thorough and does her job above and beyond most people’s expectations! I encountered one staff member who I felt asked me questions in an unprofessional manner during check out but I will still be back to see Dr. Tan as long as she’s practicing!!
