Extremely unprofessional

The nurse practitioner I originally went to at this office was great, but then she left and I started going to Sheikh herself. The people at the front desk and the students that were shadowing during our sessions are more competent than she is. One time she even left the room to do something unrelated to me or our session.

Rude and dismissive. Does not seem to care about anyone except herself. She answered phone calls during my entire consultation so she could plan her son’s wedding. Complete disregard for me as a patient and I would not recommend her at all.

Dr. Sheikh has been a life saver when I was in crisis. Her office was quick to schedule an appointment for me when I needed it. She has been keeping track of my medical records and prescribed me medicine that helped me so much.

Dr is very untrustworthy. Nurse practitioner Barbara is condescending. Not once did I ever feel like she even listen to one thing I ever said she just gives everybody the same medication’s and none of them are affective I don’t think she knows what she’s doing at all. I don’t think these people understand the business they’re in. If you’re actually getting help from this place you don’t really have problems. We’re not even gonna get into the fact that I had to go to JFK hospital for a infection and she completely abandoned me there after the staff stole all my medication’s and the best she could do for me was discontinued me as a patient so how is that being a doctor? I have had nothing but headaches since going to this doctor. I've been billed incorrectly, over charged and have dealt with appointments being late because they forgot or are running behind.

If I could give this office no stars I would. I called several times to set up an appointment to be told by the gentleman that he would check my insurance and call me back NEVER got a call back. Finally after a day I called to schedule an appointment and the women verified the insurance to only get a call three days later from a gentleman to say I have no insurance which was false and quickly corrected the issue, following day I get another call with the same situation the women Susan was rude and likes to place people on hold mid conversation when speaking to her she then realised the issue was corrected the day before. I was never seen and I honestly think it was the best choice as if this was the first impression already of lack of communication skills in their office. Very unprofessional to say the least. This “Doctor” and staff are the worse of worse, they demanded cash for the copay (very weird) she only give the patient 40 minutes and she was ready to prescribe for a very serious mental illness when actually the patient Never has show mental illness and was only in search of comfort after school shootings. Worst office I have ever been to. They’re extremely unprofessional and rude. They never answer the phone calls and when you leave a voicemail they don’t get back to you for days. It’s extremely hard to try to schedule an appointment because of this and due to this I have had to miss my very important medication multiple times. I would never recommend this office to my worst enemy. Reading some of these reviews and I must say that I agree with every single one that has something bad to say. Those comments are the truth and if you are to go to this office you too will experience this yourself. The doctor herself, from the couple of months I have been going, has always been extremely rude herself and doesn’t seem to listen to me when I speak. She seems to have it in her head already what she has decided for you and despite you wanting to try something different or having negative side effects from the medicine you are on she insists you go through with them, even when I ask to go off of it. They have also charged me multiple times for having to reschedule appointments due to my constant changing schedule and I had to end up paying over 100$ dollars in fines. From what others have said, I’m surprised she hasn’t dropped me as a patient herself but after my last visit I am happy to say it will be my last time seeing her. My daughter has been seeing Dr. Sheikh for about 4 years. Phone calls are not returned. Faxes are ignored. She flat out refused to do a peer to peer review with our insurance company. We will NOT be back.

Dr.Sheikh is so wonderful and knows her medications! She listened to me and found the perfect medications for me to help stable my mental health. We can’t forget Susan at the front desk! She has gone above and beyond for me to get a medication approved by insurance. My insurance kept denying to cover a medication that costs over $300 dollars out of pocket. Susan was an advocate for me and I can’t thank her enough for pushing through and bugging those insurance people until they caved in! I travel from an hour away just to go to them. As a mental health professional myself, trust me when I say that Dr. Sheikh is a great doctor. She will not prescribe addictive or otherwise harmful medications. I agree with that policy. She cares about her patients' well being. She even treated my own kids when they needed medication to manage their mental illnesses. Her staff is also great. It was a pleasure to visit Dr Sheikh. She is friendly, professional, and thorough. She offered insight and explained why she made the decisions she did.

Dr. Sheikh has been an amazing help to me. She takes her time to speak to me about my issues and how to best resolve them. I came to her having horrible anxiety and she has helped me tremendously.

I have been going to Dr Sheikh for a little over 2 years, I have had a really rough year, my meds stopped working, I became a very difficult person to deal with, and Dr Sheikh has been so patient with me, and working with me on finding the right Meds. She has been trying very hard in helping me, and has been very concerned about me. I think we might have found the right Meds. I am feeling so much better. I know if this new Med doesn't work I can count on her not to give up on me. She really cares

I have been bringing my daughters to Dr Sheikh for twelve years. She and her staff have always been very professional. Dr Sheikh is very knowledgeable, compassionate and conservative in her approach.

Dr. Sheikh helped me more then psychiatrist as every helped me. She takes time to listen to you and write things down and she doesn’t rush you out of there. She’s very compassionate and cares about your welfare. She has a great staff, I recommend her very highly.

I have been going to Dr. Sheikh for two years now and I will not see any other doctor for my mental health unless I move out of the area. She is very knowledgeable, understanding, compassionate and sensitive to what I need to live a happy and peaceful life so I can make it through the day. Kai and Dan- her staff are the same - friendly and very welcoming. They are very professional and make every visit easy and stress-free. I recommend Dr. Sheikh to care for mental health. good morning! i had left a review on here a while back, and it was deleted! so i am coming back to leave the same one i left probably about a year ago. i came back to see if it was still here and to also see if i had gotten a response, but it was deleted. basically, out of the 5 psychiatrists i have gone through this was the absolute worst. my appointments were about 15 minutes long and she was always pushing higher dosages of medication on me and never even TRIED helping. she always say “oh yeah” and “mhmm” while i was still speaking, which made me think i wasn’t even being listened to. she also proceeded to tell me she was going to stop treating me if i continued with my cutting issue i had at the time. what type of doctor does that? you are a PSYCHIATRIST that is TRAINED and went to years of school to help my issues right? what PSYCHIATRIST stops treating someone for that type of reason? and if you had that much of a problem with it in the first place, why did you agree on treatment? i truly think you do not deserve working in this industry. there are people struggling, there are people suffering from debilitating mental disorders, and to tell someone that is absolutely disgusting and you should be ashamed. as i said, you could have at least refused treatment when i told you in the VERY FIRST APPOINTMENT WE HAD. also, i was having a crisis at school so we made an emergency appointment to see her. she spoke to me for barely 5 minutes and called JFK to book me a seat in the psych ward. she didnt even try seeing how we could resolve this issue without having to go there. this was the most unprofessional, horrible experience i have ever had with a psychiatrist. it makes me sick people like this are allowed to work and take people’s money that are actually struggling with problems. with all due respect, going there made me feel like an animal. i didn’t feel human. she made me feel like i didn’t deserve treatment. after the continuous threats of discontinuing treatment due to self harm, and her lack of compassion and understanding, i decided that this woman may be okay to other people, but she definitely was not right for me. and thanks to you, i am now better than ever and done with the horrible drugs you people are somehow allowed to prescribe. :) good morning! i had left a review on here a while back, and it was deleted! so i am coming back to leave the same one i left probably about a year ago. i came back to see if it was still here and to also see if i had gotten a response, but … More

This office responded to my calls in a timely manner and they are very friendly and helpful. The doctor spent a good deal of time with me on my first visit. I would definitely recommend this doctor to anyone looking for this type of doctor.

She was constantly being misdiagnosed by other Dr's and they were giving her medications she didn't even need. Psychiatry was new to me, I called to schedule the appointment. Kai returned the call in less than 24 hours, she was extremely helpful in assisting me with my concerns. She did not rush me into making an appointment. after the visit, I was very much satisfied. Everyone was courteous and understanding.

This doctor's office is great. They responded to my calls in a timely fashion. The doctor was very thorough and spent a great deal of time with me on my first visit. The office staff is very friendly. I am very impressed with this office and will continue to go here. I would highly recommend this office to anyone who is looking for this type of doctor.

I would never recommend this doctor strictly because of the "customer service" (or lack of) experience I receive from the receptionist, "Kai". She is the most rude, disrespectful, condescending person I have ever had to deal with in my life. I left several messages for Dr. Sheikh to call back, she never did. I have been seeing this doctor for over 2 years and never had this issue. Kai said she will never refill my medication and I should see a different doctor. B/c of Kai I will never come back.

Since first contacting Dr. Sheikh’s office I have been treated with such care and compassion that I can’t quite put into words. A truly wonderful and professsional office. Dr. Sheikh listened to me talk about my issues for a long time. She very compassionately gave her recommendations and I trust her fully. Also her office staff, whether I’m in the office or speaking on the phone also treat me with such kindness and respect.

My daughter was late to reschedule 2 appts within a year. The Dr sent her a letter she was dropped as a patient.

Dr. Sheikh is the best in her field. She truly cares about her patients and it shows. Gerlinda and Coral are the best and make me smile every session. If you are nervous about seeing a psychiatrist go see Dr. Sheikh she is so kind and really listens!

Dr. Sheikh is engaging and incredibly thorough. She's realistic and detail oriented, doing so in such a way as to make you feel there's a dependable and 'contributing partner' in your care and goals. (That translates to picking up right where you left off from previous visits, with no time wasted.) Make no mistake, she suffers no fools and is a straight-shooter, though not at all harsh or alienating--she guides with refreshing clarity and honesty, and fosters a mutual respect throughout.

Horrible. She never gets back to you. She doesn't care about HIPPA agreements. Wouldn't recommend her to anyone. She's actually increased my anxiety and stress. Absolutely unhelpful and unprofessional.

Dr. Sheik and Daniel the NP are so accommodating, I have been a patient there for years and have recommended them to several people. The office is nice and getting an appointment is never a problem. Dr Sheik is very professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and understanding. The same is true for Daniel also. This is a wonderful office and they are there when you need them.

EXCELLENT DR! Husband had seen several doctors and his issue was not being diagnosed. I finally reached Dr Sheikh. I read reviews and do research before choosing a doctor for my family. I was not happy with them but made the decision to visit Dr Sheikh. Best decision I ever made. The staff was great, she spent time with my husband and let him express himself regardless of how long it took for him to express himself. Would definitely recommend her to everyone.

Great doctor. She always listens to my concerns. She is patient, thorough, and works with me to get the right medication regimen to address my conditions. It's important to me to watch my weight, stay sharp, and be able to fully function at home and at work. I have chronic health issues in addition to mental health diseases and she ensures the treatment options are beneficial across the board or at least are compatible. I would be a total mess if not for Dr. Sheikh's care and compassion.

Good luck trying to get them to contact you. Referred by my PCP. Called and had to leave a message. The recorder says leave a message and do not call again (it actually says that), and they will get back in about 48 hrs. never heard back, waited a week and called again; same thing. Maybe a simple call saying "sorry we don't want you" would be better than nothing. My insurance only has 3 shrinks in my area on the plan, unfortunately she is one of them. T

Dr. Sheikh is wonderful. She listens attentively, takes copious notes, and seeks to understand her patients and their problems rather than simply throwing prescriptions at people. Word of warning: Dr. Sheikh uses medication conservatively. She does not prescribe stimulants, benzos, or other drugs with the potential of addiction or misuse. Her office staff is friendly, attentive, and easy to deal with. Wait times are short, and overall my experience here has been excellent.

I'm looking for a psychiatrist right now, and stumbled upon Dr. Sheikh's profile here. She's the reason I need a new psych. I saw her as a regular patient several years ago, and she continued my medications I was already receiving. We never spoke much, and they rushed patients in and out of the office. When I had some difficult problems I needed her help with, she was very unresponsive. She doesn't like patients that require more than 10 minutes of chat or need her to do more than write a Rx.

Discriminatory. Need ADD medication. Said that I had been diagnosed tentatively with a personality disorder in the past, and they said we don't take people with those kinds of problems

Dr. Sheikh has helped through my toughest times. I don't know if I would be here today if I hadn't sought her treatment. I can't thank her enough. She has even pushed back her schedule just to make sure I'm ok. My 20 minute session turned into an hour and that just shows how caring she is. She is amazing. Dr. Sheikh doesn't have money on her mind, solely her patients' wellbeing.

We visited multiple Specializes in Psychiatry before Dr Sheikh was recommend to us by another doctor. She takes the time to listen to you, not rush you out with a new prescription. Her focus is on helping you achieve your goals, and supports you in your all around care, not just her view of your treatment. In our experience, this is rare in we drive over 45 minutes on the highway for our office visits. I would highly recommend Dr Sheikh and her staff.

I've sought and been treated by the best psychiatrists in Florida and Massachusetts, including a psychiatrist that was the Co-Chair of Psychopharmacology at Harvard University McLeans MGH. Dr. Sheikh has treated me for a number of years and I can say unequivocally that she is an excellent psychiatrist. I have recommended her to numerous people and each that have become her patient have thanked me. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Sheikh and that does not come easy from me.
