My experience was fantastic. Great bedside manners so no complaints here he did my first one in 2007 had another one done in 2010 where they had to add rods to the plates from the previous surgery. Dr. Hux did with Dr. Wilkinson consulting. Also had my 3rd back surgery in 2012 all three turned out great and all made improvements to my body and health

I had two back surgeries with him. After my first I got a bad staph infection. And ended needing emergency surgery buy got pushed back cause there was a massive wreck and he's one of Centerpoints trauma doctors. At 3:30 in the morning and all the pain I was sure he was just going to wait to do my surgery. No! At 3:45 in the morning he came strolling in my hospital room and asked if I was ready. I told him I thought he was just going to wait and and he said that wasn't going to happen! He's a dedicated doctor. He sent me to a pain clinic cause he thought I was abusing my meds. That was not that case. The meds I was on he gave me....5 class 1 narcotics that I was maxed out on and still not helping my pain. I have significant problems with my back. The best thing he did was send me to the pain clinic cause my doc there got me off all the those I barely took and now I'm on nothing and seeing a chiropractor every week. Best doctor I have ever had. Compassionate, caring and skilled.

I worked with him at the VA and he is great to work with. He is my choice of a surgeon if I need his expertise.

DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE OR LET ANYONE ELSE PUT THERE LIFE IN HIS HANDS. He has a habit of convincing people into having surgeries, especially back surgeries. Then after doing a 2nd back surgery on several people he suddenly quits the hospital & leaves everyone with NO AFTER CARE & EVERYONE ENDS UP in WORSE SHAPE THAN BEFORE THEY HAD ANY SURGERIES. I ALMOST DIED because none of the doctors at KU Med Center would take care of the patients he left behind. And I just met a woman he did the same thing to last September at the Centerpoint Physicians Group/Hospital. And our physical therapists told us several other people have told them the same thing about Dr. Steven B. Wilkinson. BEWARE & DO NOT LET HIM DO ANY PROCEDURES on YOU or anyone else YOU KNOW. ***Update: Was just told Dr. Wilkinson has 8 lawsuits against him in Kansas & no longer has a medical liscense in Kansas. He is a great surgeon, he did exactly what he said he would. I would just like to thank him for a job well done.

Dr. Wilkinson performed deep brain stimulation surgery on my husband 12/2013. When my husband woke from the surgery the next day his speech and ability to walk was compromised. I said something is wrong. He is talking like my mother after her stroke. Dr said they did a CT right after the surgery and everything was fine. Symptoms would resolve over time. To make a long story short, 4 months later my husband fell and his his head. A CT a brainbleed from the fall and evidence of an old one.

Dr. Wilkinson is an excellent Doctor and surgeon he is very trustworthy let's you know what you're up against up front so there is no surprises.. Very comfortable to talk to. Explains things to where you can understand them, doesn't talk over your head. Shows that he cares about his patients. Which in this day and time is rare..

Dr Wilkinson removed a matasis from my head just found out he left two stitches in my head been almost four years now. Went to neurosurgeon at ku who fixed me.

I had him as a Dr. when he worked at K U. He's the only Dr. I ever remember, that called and talked to my mom, checking on me, seeing if I was doing OK. I died and had to be revived. He saved my life. He's amazing.

After my accident he was the only doctor that listen to me
