Dr Theiss is a miracle worker! I had 26 year old hardware (Harrington rods) and no one would even consider helping me. My only given options were pain management for LIFE. I was devastated! Until I met Dr Theiss! He took my case with complete confidence, made me feel completely at ease and explained the plan in full many times over! I am 4 weeks post Alif Plif with rod extension and I'm already doing amazing! I'll NEVER let another person handle my spine issues! I was transferred to him from Dr Pittman because he is leaving and Steven Theiss basically gives me the run around because he dosnt want to fool with my back problems his staff and nurse are VERY rude do not use tbe UAB portal to contact them because they will not answer i thought highly of UAB ortho department before i met Theiss Im sad that Dr Pittman is leaving because he was going to do the surgery and fix me. So now im going to emory in Atlanta to have surgery. This Dr is an absolute genius in the field of spinal medicine. God used this man’s ability and he saved my sisters life. Then when it came time for me to have back surgery he fixed another doctors screw up and I came through with flying colors. I thank God for him.

The only really Top Spinal Surgeon in the South East and Probably the United States. He is also a great great guy and knowledge is unsurpassed with spine surgery! Believe me, I have been to all of the top 10 in Birmingham, AL after a MVA Fx my C-T -L spine and after 3 other failed attempts from highly recommend Surgeons, I was blessed by someone who referred me to him! Long story short, but he was able to put the pieces together and at least save my life! I do live in severe chronic pain and have a very good pain management Dr. Who keeps me at least with the ability to have a life of activities that I can enjoy along with my wonderful wife and our children and babies ( 1 Peekapoo and 2. It's been 23 years, but in 1996 he fixed my hip another surgeon had messed up after a car accident. Forever grateful for this man.

Dr Theiss saved my life. He is one of the best doctors in Alabama. I had two spinal surgeries 5 years ago. I am a living proof of his great work. He fixed my back and injury. Thank you so much and God Bless.

I saw Dr. Theiss for a multi-level spinal fusion. He is a consummate professional with the ability to explain a complicated medical procedure in language my husband and I could understand. He takes the time we need at every appointment. I am now six months post-op, and I am doing well. I highly recommend him and his team for anyone who needs an excellent surgeon for a complicated spinal surgery.

Dr. Thesis is a wonderful and caring doctor. He has performed a very successful surgery on my lower back. He also operated successfully on my father-in-law's back. I would recommend him to anyone who is suffering with back pain.

I had a spinal injury and many people told me not to go with an ortho but it was the best decision ever made! Dr. Theiss dad a fantastic job and I feel better than ever before!!!!

I had severe scoliosis and was in alot of pain. Dr. Thesis was my second opinion and my first choice to do my surgery. He explained everything so well and was very easy to talk to, he showed he actually cared. My surgery was 1/20/16 and still today I'm just amazed at the results. I feel better(I can actually breath) and I look better. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Thesis.

I am so grateful for Dr. Theiss! I am able to walk and am not in pain because Dr. Theiss did extensive successful back surgery on me. He has given me my life back and a future as well. I can't express my appreciation for his skill and care!

I was referred to him by my neurosurgeon that had already done one surgery on me and moved. i live 3 hrs from him, he wasted three appts and it felt like he was milking my insurance company for visits, and things he knew I didn't need. Therapy, injections, etc. I did everything he asked and he kept giving me the run around. Horrible experience. Left the last time in tears.

Very Very Good

I really liked him from the first time I met him. Straight to the point, told me what was going to happen. Even went through it step by step. And he had visual aid pointed out on it what the problem was and how he was going to fix it. Over all I would give him and his staff 100%. Every one at his office are super friendly and caring. I have referred him to my mom, cousin, and sister.

Scheduling my appointment with Dr Theiss was painful. I had called numerous time attempting to get an appt. and consistently receive partial information from the reception leading to taking over two weeks to make an appt. My appointment with Dr Theiss went well.

Back surgery 8/11/15 went well but was painful..just starting to get better when started severe pain in left leg that was from surgery..L4-L5 w/fusion..this known as TFLsyndrome...was given one cortisone injection in hip which did help for few days but was told Dr Theiss does not usually do this..took until 12/23/15 to get MRI which verified condition..was under assumption this was to be used to refer me to either hip Dr., pain management or phys therapy..still in bad pain..have rec no help yet
