Dr. Steven Michael Petak

I like Dr Petak but making an appointment is so difficult bc they do not answer phone and the prompts lead to nowhere. They should allow patients to book appointments online if they are so bad at answering the phone. The poor rating is for the office procedures for appointments. Dr Petak is an excellent doctor!

Dr. Petak is excellent! He’s been my doctor for about 10 years now!!

I looked over the previous reviews left by others to help me fine tune my remarks. I can see the multitasking of talking to a patient as the physician has to look up testing, etc. and simultaneously type the input of a visit summary as appearing pre-occupied. When there is no assistant to type the summary(as I have experienced in other doctors' offices), that is the condition that results from complying with time constraints and appointment scheduling. Overall, Dr. Petak is thorough, extremely knowledgeable, well-qualified and listens to my myriad of questions. He asks whether I have any further questions as he is ending our visit. I am grateful to be a patient of such an expert.

Dr Petak was so genuine and attentive to me and my health issues. He even went over several options for treatments. Gave me a positive outlook that calmed me. My T score is -3.4 so that calming positive outlook helped me a lot. We of course started with some blood work to confirm what treatments will work best for me. excellent!!

Takes the time to sit with patient and answer all questions, does not rush through the visit.

He's so kind and he means well and really has a mission to stop diabetes before it starts. I really think he takes himself and his work very seriously. I don't need to be coddled I just need to be healthy and I think he provides a well thought out action plan as he considers the whole person.Those who think he's preoccupied are more concerned with their hurt feelings not their health.I believe he's heard it all and doesn't need to hear all the whining and excuses.He just wants to help.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I am deeply disappointed in the service I received from this provider, after not 1 but 3 visits. Has no bedside manners, doesn't seem to care what I have to say, minimal eye contact, seems distracted and preoccupied with other things other than concentrating on talking about my case. Doesn't know the side effects (that I claimed to have) of the medication he prescribed me. He is supposed to be there to provide quality care, not to put people down and simply collect a paycheck.

Seemed a little preoccupied. didn't make me feel comfortable. Felt he was not interested in what I had to say. Not very personable. Would not recommend him. Hard to read. Seems to be distracted.

Schedules enough time for the visit that you don't feel rushed and you aren't sitting in the waiting room for hours because they over scheduled; he really listens and talks to you in language you can understand

Saved my life, best endocrinologist in Houston period. Before him I saw endocrinologist of Houston and ended up in the emergency room 5 times from a major misdiagnosis from a female doctor there. The ER Doctor referred me to Dr. Petak and I didn't even have hypothyroidism and he saved me from 3 misdiagnoses from the other doctor which almost killed me. I'm doing great on the correct diagnosis and not bed ridden anymore. Dr. Petak literally saved my life. God Bless

I came to Houston from New York with a hyperparathyroid condition and was referred to Dr. Steven Petak at Houston Methodist Hospital. I can?t say enough about the wonderful care I received from Dr. Petak. He's calm, kind, caring, and genuinely concerned about my health. Dr. Petak listens when you speak, and he records and addresses all of your concerns with respect. Never feel rushed. Erica, his assistant, is as wonderful! Dr. Petak is truly a rare gem and a blessing! The absolute best!
