Dr. Steven A Kooperman

Hw is a wonderful doctor, surgeon and caretaker. He helped me through issues as a teen, a young woman with fertility problems and very difficult illnesses. He treated me like a daughter and brought in his own specialist when it was called for, not the on-call surgeon. He saved me many times.

I’m at the beginning of my second trimester for my first pregnancy. This was my first appointment with Dr. Kooperman as NWC likes for everyone to see each doctor. He walked into the room without knocking and performed his manual exam. He said everything looked and felt great except for my weight. I was expecting this conversation, but not expecting the lack of class and respect. He referred to me as a “bigger girl” before pregnancy and mansplained what carbohydrates were despite my husband and I previously doing keto prior to my pregnancy. I am also a healthcare provider and have my professional doctorate, so I really did not appreciate being talked down to. I understand that weight is an important topic, but it’s not what you say it’s HOW you say it. I was told to have no fruits or carbs, which isn’t even safe for a woman with gestational diabetes. He tried to leave to room without asking if I had questions and had the audacity to call me beautiful. I refuse to see this doctor again.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kooperman since 1985. He supported me through 4 high-risk pregnancies and one miscarriage. He is the most empathetic and compassionate doctor who I've ever known. He listened patiently to all of my questions and concerns and fully addressed each and every one. He listens and remembers every detail to the extent that he asks about how how members of my family are doing from conversations we had over the years. If I could give him 10 stars, I would! Dr. Kooperman is an amazing doctor who became a family friend.

I've been a patient of Dr. Kooperman for over 30 years. He has provided prenatal and postnatal care for my 3 pregnancies. He takes a lot of time to talk to me before every annual checkup to understand and advise on any concerns and changes. I highly recommend Dr. Kooperman and his outstanding staff.
