I recently decided to do the hormone Biote pellet therapy due to post menopausal health issues. I cannot express enough of how Dr Komadina set my mind at ease and answered all my questions and explained everything so well. I have never had a doctor be so thorough and kind, not just treating me as a “number.” I highly recommend Dr Komadina.

I started seeing Dr. Komadina in 2016 and he diagnosed me with Hashimotos. I've been taking thyroid medication for at least 30 years. He's really helped me with BIHRT and my thyroid meds. I only get to see him once a year because I live out of town. I highly recommend him and his staff!

You are not alone, if the BIOTE and Thyroid cocktail treatments didn't work for you. After 1 year of hoping for results, I've stopped my treatment and consultations with Dr. Komadina. I'm leaving with hand tremors, and hot flashes (I'm 66 and have already gone through menopause), that I didn't not have when I started my treatments. I'm done sitting in the waiting room listening to the BIOTE infomercials that convince everyone that this is the answer to our hormone problems. I was told that the treatments I was getting worked for thousands of people, I guess I'm not one of them. I emailed the office often and reported my symptoms and the the ineffective treatments. Dr. Komadina and his staff were responsive, they tweaked my supplements and treatments to no avail. I gave myself a year and I'm done. My message today is that Komadina's approach did not work for me and there is nothing worse than feeling like you are the exception, especially in this particular situation. Good luck! Dr. Komadina delivered my daughter Elyse 34 yrs ago. I had a risky pregnancy and he came highly recommended and sought out. His compassion, comfort, and assurance brought comfort to a scary situation. My labor unexpectedly progressed rapidly and I delivered 17 minutes after I got to the hospital. From the moment I hung up the phone and headed to the hospital he had jumped on his motorcycle and was there for the last 6 minutes and deliveed her. His dedication, expertise, and commitment led to a successful birth and recovery. My beautiful daughter knows her birth story well. We were very pleased that we took the drive to Albuquerque. Dr. Komadina took time to give us full information, answer questions, and review our labs in detail. He also took the time to send us follow up and research information regarding the information he had given us, and our questions. He put me on thyroid medication two years ago and only checks my thyroid lab work once a year. Thyroid still not up to where it should be and he still won't change the prescription to try and get my thyroid back on track. Then there's a shortage of the medication. Does he order blood work? NO. The nurse didn't even bother to call me back to let me know they called the pharmacist or to discuss what they were changing my prescription to. My nurse practitioner mentioned coming here after suffering a progesterone imbalance from the Mirena IUD. I'll just get right to the point.. my whole life changed for the worse from this experience, but I am hopeful I can get myself back to normal. I was diagnosed hypothyroid with a testosterone deficiency after Dr. Komadina took labs and was started right away on nature throid and I agreed to do testosterone as I thought it was the answer to my prayers. Within a month, my anxiety became extremely notable, I called and they increased my thyroid med. Again, it got worse. I then started experiencing depersonalization episodes that I have found out are a symptom of extreme anxiety. At this point, I thought I just had a mental disorder and I was desperately trying to help myself. Then heart palpitations started after they increased my medicine a third time. After this last increase my anxiety was like something out of a horror film and my heart palpitations were constant. It was tearing me apart. I finally asked for my medical records, 1.5 years later and began the journey of healing. I found an endocrinologist, pulled all my textbooks for college on hormones and began researching credible articles on the internet as to what was happening to me. From my medical records, I found out I was NOT hypothyroid and NOT testosterone deficient. In order to diagnose a thyroid disorder, there are at least 4 labs that need to be taken. Komadina took 2 and they were both normal. My testosterone was also fine at its level when I was made to believe that level meant I was not producing at all. Through my endocrinologist and appropriate labs, I discovered I actually became HYPERthyroid from the medicine. I was taken off and low and behold my thyroid is doing better. The testosterone has awhile before it leaves my system, but I was being dosed at around 200 for a woman and now understand why I was rageful at times, emotional, couldn't sleep, the list goes on with anxiety being the number one. When I called to ask why this happened and why he diagnosed me this way, I was told by an assistant that "Komadina has his reasons for diagnosing the way he does and has hours of extensive training. You weren't ignored and we'll send you our research." I guess if you found what you were looking for from his treatment, then I'm happy for you. However, if your life turned upside down like mine, know you're not alone and we will get through this. I am praying that my body heals and the anxiety calms as these hormones run out of my system and I can get back to being myself. Worst visit experience ever. I chose this doctor office because they got high rating Google reviews for Dr. Komadina. I used Google reviews all the time to help making my decision when it came to choosing new businesses to try out. So here I am, putting back my 2 cents in the reviews so the next people know what I experienced and make their decisions wisely. I tried to make appointment with Dr .Komadina but he was fully booked so they gave me an appointment with a nurse name Tracy. I assumed if Dr. Komadina's reputation is that good as other google users said then his staff must be just as good. Boy, was I wrong? First of all, the office was hot as hell because their AC was out of order. Sitting and waiting in a hot doctor office in hot NM summer day is no joke. But that I can understand, the situation is out of their control. My review here is focusing on my interaction with nurse Tracy. She was rude and unprofessional. She was talking so fast but yet kept asking the same questions over and over again like she didn't pay attention to the answers I just gave her like 1 min ago. She acted like she was very busy and in hurry to go to the next patient while she was examining me. Hello, your patient is RIGHT HERE. Again, she talked so fast but didn't deliver important info that I need to know about my medicine, what not to do while on medication. And I need to go to a lab to get my blood work done. I found out that info from one of the receptionists. Wasn't that bizarre? I have to go back in 3 weeks for lab result review with her. Hmmm. All I could say was hmmm. This place does not focus on OB/GYN but on beauty. Now, that latter is fine, but it makes one wonder what the real focus is on when you walk in the door and see videos selling products, brochures of treatments all over the place, and not much else. You all get a free dermabrasion when you go and fat testing. Seems all lovely, unless you want a serious exam. Which I did not get by my nurse practitioner who had one foot out the exam room the entire time.

Changed my thyroid medicine I had been taking for 10+ years. Within 60 days of this new theraphy (pig thyroid) I had to be taken to hospital with heart problems at 36 and an athlete. I had an abnormal ekg and dr Komadina didn’t even acknowledge the fact that his prescription had increased my t3 levels so high I could not even talk normally without getting out of breath. When I tried to connect with them the staff was absolutely awful and disorganized. I never returned but struggled for over 2 yrs to get back to normal with thyroid. Run away!!! The staff is wonderful. They will absolutely jump thru hoops to accommodate your needs. I did not know that this level of care existed in the medical profession. We are blessed to have Dr. Komadina in Albuquerque.

I've seen Dr. Komadina for over 21 years as he was my ob doctor. Now he is my gyn doctor. His practice has evolved into one that combines western medicine with a leaning into a holistic approach with regard to hormones and an overall well-being. My husband even sees him one-two times a year for the biote testosterone implants. I hope he never retires!

This doctor is amazing. I have lost 35 lbs. Biote is pretty close to miraculous! The Nature Throid finally got my thyroid straightened out after five endocrinologist..

Waited almost an hour be been seen for lab results. Secretaries are rude and inconsiderate of time and discriminate against women of color.

Women's Health Horizons is awesome. I was referred by my PCP June 2015. I had absolutely no energy before going for pellet therapy. My loss of energy was so severe that I "could not" even learn how to use my new camera or take pictures of my grandson's 3 year birthday party. I now receive pallet therapy every 3 months and am able to take Yoga classes. I also receive micro-dermabrasion every month and use their recommended skin therapy and no one believes my age. Dr. Komadina is every thing I think a doctor should be. He is prompt to return calls and always willing to answer questions. He answered his phone once on a Sunday and answered a pressing question for me. I found out that he was actually in Yellowstone with his family on vacation, but still answered my call. Wonderful staff and wonderful care provided by Dr. Komadina. Dr. Komadina took the time to really listen to me and to explain treatment options. I feel better than I have in years. I was so happy to find Dr. Komadina. My drive is four hours long but it has been worth it! You're met by a friendly staff and pleasant surroundings. I first heard about Dr. Komadina from a couple good friends that were struggling with hormone imbalances and they couldn't sing his praises loud enough. But I just didn't want to see him. His office was clear across town and frankly, I was reluctant to see a male gyn. Intuitively I went with him against all my reasoning and have found a real ally and collaborator in restoring my balance and good health.
