Dr. Steven Michael Kelly

Was referred to Primary’s ENT by U of U urgent care after four visits and three different antibiotics for my 7 month old. We saw Dr. Kelly hoping he would recommend ear tubes and schedule surgery, but he brushed off the previous chart notes and said my son “will be fine” and to “call if anything comes up.” Sure enough something came up and we called the clinic asking if there was an opening to see a provider or if we should go back to urgent care instead. Without seeing my son or recommending a course of action, they called in an ear drop with a refill. The staff said I could schedule a visit so their providers could reevaluate care. Dr. Kelly was the soonest provider appointment, so we begrudgingly booked with him. The ear drops did not work, so we had to go back to the U of U urgent care. The urgent care provider apologized on behalf of Dr. Kelly’s inaction and administered the first of three Rocephin injections. We’re due to go back tomorrow, then the next day to complete the course. I’m very unhappy with Primary Children’s care. None of this would have gotten this far if the provider followed guidelines. Hopefully this upcoming appointment at Primary’s will result in good care and practices.

Great with special needs kiddos

My son and I went to visit Doctor Kelly for my son's ear trauma and hearing loss. All of the office staff were very professional and patient with my energetic four-year-old son. We did experience a complication with getting our medical records on their file, however it's unclear if that was an error on our referring physician's part. It was confusing because their office is in Layton But the number I was given to fax information and to call in seemed to be located in a different office. It was frustrating for all parties involved. During our visit, we were sent a few doors down the hallway to do a hearing test, and the doctor over there did not have any of my son's records despite being told they were sent over successfully. Overall we received a plan of action rather quickly, and Doctor Kelly explained our options clearly and professionally. Ultimately we were sent to a different specialists to take further action. Dr Kelly is so professional and we are so thankful for him!

I was very unimpressed with our visit to Dr. Kelly. He told me he had no idea how to help my daughters ear pain, and did not offer any avenues of someone else or offering to do research. I obviously am at my wits end with her ear pain, and this visit was a complete waste of time. Horrible service.

The office sent out one bill and i forgot to pay it. One year later we get served with court papers. No phone calls no other bills sent. Yes, I should have paid the 107.00 on the bill but i still think that the office could have sent out another bill, a letter or even a phone call before sending it to the court. I would not recommend the office to others.

Worst experience. He performed my 16 yr old daughters tonsillectomy. Called the night of the surgery to ask for different pain meds since she vomited 12 times from them. He was irritated about the after hours call and said take Tylenol. She was in severe pain he didn't care. Called 6 days after surgery to tell him there was a blood clot in the back of her throat, he said it was nothing. 2 days later she hemorrhaged at 1:00am, we rushed to the hospital and had emergency surgery to stop bleeding.

I waited in his office for 50 minutes with no one giving an explaination as to why we were waiting, and then when he did arrive he was not courteous or friendly in any way.He was not any help at all. I had already been to our pediatrician so the only reason i was there was to get a specialist opinion on whether or not my daughters tonsils should come out.
