Steven Charles Dennis

Dr. Dennis is an amazingly brilliant surgeon who also happens to be a very kind, patient and thorough human being and doctor. I count my blessings I was referred to him through my PT. I’m walking and living my normal life once again thanks to Dr. Dennis.

Dr. Dennis performed a surgery on me over 20 + years ago. I’m still in good shape! He SAVED my life. I was in so much pain I didn’t know what to do my quality of life was so bad. He was such a cool guy, his amazing surgery performed still makes me grateful to this day!!! He told me I was just the ideal patient but I think it was the magic of his skill that fixed me! I can’t say enough good things. I hope you eventually read this Dr. Dennis, Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Dennis is the best!!!! He is hands on when comes to a diagnosis. He doesn’t just look at xrays and MRI’s . I thank God for that because two other surgeons wanted to do back surgery DrDennis did further testing and realized it was actually my husbands hips! He needed a bilateral hip replacement! Thank you Dr. Dennis . Your years of experience and training and such a good man who takes his time with you is what you want in a Dr. His office manager Pearl goes above and beyond as well working so sweetly with patients and helping with insurance issues and that is not easy!! Doctor Dennis gave me hope today for what I thought was a hopeless condition.

Dr. Dennis did a laminectomy and fusion on my spine> I had the most excruciating pain in my left leg a root nerve problem. After the surgery the pain was gone. I have RA and do have some arthritis in my back but I am able to function pretty well. surgery was done in March 2016.

He messed my Mom's back up and after a 2nd/3rd opinion 3 years later due to her ongoing constant pain that never went away after he performed surgery on her, she needs another surgery. My Mom's new Dr's in Greater Newport echoed the damage he caused and how wrong/bad his surgery was. His work now has to be removed and he didn't even sew my Mom's back up correctly according to the plastic surgeon who had to remove fluid after the surgery. Dr. Dennis was not just an inadequate surgeon in my case. He was rathe indifferent to me when his surgery clearly failed (fusing my S1, L5, L4, and L3. As I suspected the 4 other orthopedic surgeons I consulted post-op clearly stated that Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) was called for and should have been used. I mentioned this to Dr. Steve Dennis pre-op and he said it was not necessary. At that time I was not aware how truly necessary it was as one of the screws oscillated and I ended up requiring 2 more surgeries. Don't be fooled by his Newport Beach location. This man is not who you want cutting you up. Fortunately the very thorough Dr. Moshe H Wilker was able to salvage the sloppy work Dr. Dennis did. Established a more detailed diagnosis and directed me to the correct care for physical therapy. Tested trigger points and took x-rays. Kind straightforward bedside manner. So far so good!

Dr Dennis did my spinal fusion in 2016 and it was the best gift I could of been given. Finally my neck was/is pain free

I had the fortune of finding Dr. Dennis while recovering from a neck surgery performed by another doctor. Dr. Dennis is an incredible doctor who acted immediately to get me the resources I needed to heal and reach bone fusion. I can’t say enough great things about him, his professionalism and his caring manner.

Dr. Dennis worked with me to avoid surgery until it was essential. The surgery was significant requiring spinal fusion but highly successful. I was skiing in 4 months and continue to live a very active lifestyle without any back problems. His counsel, comunication and skills are terrific.

Dr. Dennis has been my back doctor for over 20 years. I can still play tennis today, thanks to him. I have had to have multiple surgeries and Dr. Dennis always provided the best of care and always only did the surgery when absolutely necessary and as long as he felt I would be much better off afterwards. He is open to alternative forms of treatment including but not limited to acupuncture, pilates and physical therapy. I can honestly say I would not be enjoying the life I have today if it wasn't for him.

I'm two weeks post surgery having Dr. Dennis perform an Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion at both 5/6 and 6/7 of my neck. Dr. Dennis and his very competent team took care of all of my needs & concerns before the procedure and continued to do so in the hospital, Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, and afterwards. They have an online e-mail program that checks in with me everyday that both checks with my progress and prompts me to be vigilant and proactive during the recovery period. Astonishingly this has been a pain free experience since I woke up in recovery and I'm moving forward to a better quality of life. Great bedside manor. Answers all questions and actually listens to you and your concerns. Doesn't mind explaining over and over again until you feel you understand. Dr. Dennis = Best surgeon for the job. His staff and his ability to educate and inform on my situation made this process so much more easier!!! My first posting was 4 months ago its now January 2018. I went in for my check up two weeks ago. I'm completely pain free, healed, have all movement and I'm just thankful for Team Dr. Dennis and here is why. 1- I've never had major surgery like this before and I was really at the end of my rope. Dr. Dennis explained everything to me from the MRI results in a way that it felt safe and really like this surgery was like a walk in the park for him. Well, it was because he is an expert!!!! Thank GOD for that!!!! 2- Morning of the surgery we spoke and I was just reassured. This meant a lot to me. 3- His team in the office are trained very well and I actually miss talking with them. Great staff. What can I say, It's just the best health services one could hope for. 4- Last point is ask questions. This was key for me oh and I almost forgot. Having confidence in my selection of an orthopedic surgeon for my back surgery was essential and I was so lucky to have had Dr. Dennis recommended by 2 friends who had excellent outcomes. Dr. Dennis was patient, caring and took the time to give me thorough explanations to all of my questions. I was having extreme low back, hip and shooting leg pain and I am completely pain free 2 weeks post-surgery. I am so thankful for Dr. Dennis and his entire medical team for their excellent care! Dr. Dennis is the best! He is an excellent surgeon. I will always be grateful for his kind, compassionate and extraordinary surgical abilities. I would not be walking today if it were not for his medical proficiency to diagnosis and carry out necessary surgical procedures immediately! I recently had Anterior Cervical Disectomy & Fusion surgery by Dr Dennis and my excruciating nerve pain from neck to my arm/hand is completely gone. I am so grateful to Dr Dennis and I highly recommend him if you have similar pain. He is caring and kind doctor.

Dr. Dennis was very thorough, from start to finish. He explained everything to me prior to, answered all of my questions, and he and his team were there for me before, during, and after my procedure. It has been 10 days and I have stopped taking all painkillers and am feeling great already! Highly recommend!

Dr Dennis has been my doctor for the last 20 years. I have had multiple problems with my spine and Dr Dennis has always been able to get me back out doing the sports I love. He only does surgery as a last resort and when surgery is needed, the results have been great. He listens to you and wants to make sure he does what's best for you and your lifestyle. I visited 3 other specialists for my chronic back pain. I settled on Dr. Dennis because he was more thorough, took ample time to explain my condition and alternative treatments, and was not pushing surgery, but rather taking the time with me so that I made the decision to go the surgical route. In addition, the facility and the entire staff at Newport Orthopedic Institute is top notch...very professional, very clean, and respectful of my time and any concerns I had. Waiting times were minimal, and the follow up after my surgery has been amazing. My surgery was two weeks ago and so far I am much improved and able to stand and walk for much longer periods than before. L3,4,5 Laminectomy, with a prosthetic insert and fusion. Third surgery in 20 years. From my first meeting in his office to the post-surgical follow-up appointment, Dr Dennis has provided expert care. As a Surgeon, he takes time to explain all steps of the procedure, answering all my questions, which is rare to find today. His staff, especially his PA, carefully monitored my post surgery progress, in the hospital and out, explaining what to expect. I highly recommend Dr Dennis.

It's been 30 years since Dr. Dennis performed surgery on my neck. I had a herniated disc between cervical vertebras number 5 and 6. He removed the herniated disc and fused the two vertebra. I woke up from the surgical procedure and the pain was gone for the first time in over a year. The pain has never come back. At the age of 70, my only complaint is that he didn't fix my golf swing. This guy is really good !!

Dr Dennis is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors I have ever met. He takes the time to listen and truly cares about your situation and outcome.

Almost a year post surgery and I am very happy with the results. Although I was nervous about back surgery, I am so glad I had the procedure done. Down time was minimal and I have regained almost all of my ability and strength. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I had surgery and not to do something crazy that would put even a perfect back at risk. I am now 100% pain free and can walk like a normal person again.
