Excellent optometrist. He has been my doctor for years!

We recently moved here from out of state. I had been meaning to find a local optometrist. However, before I had the chance to I broke my glasses. They were able to fit me in that same morning, which I am very grateful for. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Covid precautions were also diligent. I saw Dr. Kayla Black and she is a very excellent optometrist! If you are looking for a new provider, I highly recommend her and this practice. We recently moved here from out of state. Dr. Black was fantastic. Our sons teacher recommended he get his eyes checked for issues. Dr. Black did an outstanding exam with me in the room and recommended a different reading method (using a bookmark to stay on line) and not glasses. He explained that our sons eyes were simply “untrained” and we had nothing to worry about. Peace of mind and no recommendations of things that were not needed. Dr. Black was fantastic. I have been to a few eye Doctors over the years but I have never been more satisfied than when I came here. They took care of my glasses and contacts exam in the same visit. It only took two days for me to receive my new glasses with very friendly staff.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Steven Black for almost 16 years. We have never been disappointed in the great service we receive. Picking out glasses is a chore for me but the girls are always kind enough to give me their opinions. We would highly recommend.

The eye exam I received from Dr. Kayla Black was very thorough and educational. The techs I worked with to choose classes and then to have them fitted were knowledgeable. I'm very pleased with my new glasses, and I was able to order new lenses for my sunglasses. A positive experience!

Loved my doctor Kayla Black just wish I would of had more literature with my new glasses.

My husband had cataract removal surgery in Indianapolis and Dr. Black is his local doctor who has done a fantastic job of doing follow up exams.

Great customer service!! I tried contacts for the first time (didn’t work for me) but they were all so patience and tried to help the best they could! I ended up going for new glasses but they even helped me judge what looked good new ones in etc the whole staff was amazing and I won’t be looking for a new place ever. I have been going to Dr. Stephen Black since he got out of college he has always been very professional yet like family. Great service from all his staff. I have also had the pleasure of seeing his daughter Dr. Kayla and she is also very professional and just like family.

Love love love Kayla! Staff were amazing, courteous, respectful, and all around amazing! Not only with me but my daughter as well! My daughter isn't very well with strangers but Kayla played with her, made it fun, and done absolutely everything to make her comfortable and she loved it! Hands down the best!

My husband and I have been going to Dr Steven Black for many years. The service is always first rate and the staff is friendly, and very helpful. I am diabetic, and he always takes that into consideration, and gives me a thorough exam based on that fact. I would recommend him with no reservations.

I have been patient of Dr. Black for about thirty years. I have never had a negative experience. I have always been pleased with my exam and the process of choosing frames. His staff are professional, friendly, and skilled. He must be a good employer, because his staff rarely changes, which tells me they really like working for him.

I have gone to Dr. Steven Black since back in the 80s. He has always been very professional, courteous, and considerate. He has always given me the correct exam diagnosis and made certain my prescription glasses were correct. Up unti his death five years ago, my husband also was a patient of his since the 80s. He was of the same opinion as me. He liked Dr Black for his being a conscientious doctor with up to date knowledge and his kind mannerisms. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

I have been with them going on over 10 years and they have always been excellent. They helped me anytime I had a problem, adjustments or just needed some help getting my glasses adjusted. They really do a complete eye checkup and make sure I get checked out. My last glasses were to heavy and with my nose being broke along time ago they hurt my nose. They tried new nose pads but it still hurt. I got back with them and they replaced them with a new very light frame that is great on my nose.

Over visit was great, very informative and very friendly. Only issue is their merchant code wasn’t correct for being a doctors office.. which meant my HRA wouldn’t go through.. the lady swiped my card three times and declined every time making it seem as if it was my problem and my fault. After a quick call the my insurance company it turns out it’s the offices fault for not setting up their account correctly with the Credit company. After telling the receptionist this she said “oh yeah, it’s a known issue and we are getting it fixed soon”. It’s now been a week and I’ve yet to hear anything back from them. Over visit was great, very informative and very friendly. Not a good overall experience for my 1st visit. I went in specifically for a pair of frames & lenses, but I did not get an exam there. The lady waiting on me wrote down all the features I wanted in the lenses & I got a copy of that paper. When I picked up the glasses & asked them to double check they got everything I wanted, she admittedly didn’t get all the features correctly entered into the computer from her paper, so I had to wait another week for replacement lenses. I also specifically asked that the original demo lenses be saved for the $273 frames I was getting, so they called to the lab to make the request & confirmed with me they’d be saved, but of course when I picked up my frames the demo lenses were nowhere to be found. Finally, one of the lenses in the glasses isn't cut to fit nearly as well in the frames as the other. So the lenses look uneven in the frames. Not happy about that when the total cost of the 1 pair of glasses was $1,008. However, the staff is friendly & I didn’t have to wait long when I was there. I had a wonderful 1st time visit with Dr. Kayla Black. Super nice lady. The staff was pleasant as well. They had answers to all of my questions and i didn't sit around waiting forever to get my new glasses ordered or when picking up. Thanks!

The entire staff at Dr. Black's office is professional and friendly. They take a genuine interest in not only your eye health, but also you as a person. The Dr. takes the time to listen to your concerns and doesn't try to rush you out the door to get to the next patient. Coming in for an examination is more like visiting with a friend.

I decided to purchase a different pair of glasses. Having my prescription from Dr. Black, I explained to the technician the type of frame I wanted, but nothing on display seemed to 'fill the bill.' She went to the back room to sort through some new frames not yet on display. Frames which seemed to be what I thought I wanted were brought to me for a try on. I liked them, but they were in silver and I preferred yellow gold. She ordered them for me and I do like them. Thank You!

Been going to Dr. Steve Black for over 20 years. Exam is thorough. Prices in line with others in area. Courteous, helpful, friendly doctor and staff.

I called and asked many questions prior to my appointment. When I got there, the receptionist was rude and uppity. She seemed irritated and uninformative about what I had talked on the phone about. She acted more concerned about if my insurance would cover everything then my needs. It was a huge waste of time.

Called in June about getting an appointment and the receptionist actually laughed, "we're scheduling appointments for February and March." Seriously?
