Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also referred to as rehabilitation medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with diagnosing, evaluating, and treating patients with physical disabilities. These disabilities may arise from conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system such as neck and back pain, sports injuries, or other painful conditions affecting the limbs, such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Alternatively, the disabilities may result from neurological trauma or disease such as spinal cord injury, head injury or stroke. A physician certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation is often called a physiatrist. The primary goal of the physiatrist is to achieve maximal restoration of physical, psychological, social and vocational function through comprehensive rehabilitation. Pain management is often an important part of the role of the physiatrist. For diagnosis and evaluation, a physiatrist may include the techniques of electromyography to supplement the standard history, physical, x-ray and laboratory examinations. The physiatrist has expertise in the appropriate use of therapeutic exercise, prosthetics (artificial limbs), orthotics and mechanical and electrical devices.

I have had two opportunities to have Dr.Anderson lead my rehab team; once for a stroke and once for a broken pelvis. In both instances he was a compassionate, knowledgeable, highly supportive rehab physician. His team of therapIsts are motivational and inspirational and I have recommended his rehab clinic at Providence Hospital in Portland many times over the years. He’s simply the best!

Terrible! Absolutely worthless doctor. Totally incompetent! Read his reviews, the only good one he has is obviously fake. One star is too many but it is the lowest rating I can give.

Poor doctor - poor office staff - poor looking office in general. This guy can't do anything besides recommend ibuprofen. I'm not so stupid that I need a specialist to tell me to take ibuprofen, if that was all I needed, then my primary care doctor most likely would not have referred me to another specialist! Then, after I called back and complained, told him I was still in pain, he contradicted himself more than once and said I shouldn't take so much ibuprofen. What a moron! I made sure to let my primary care doctor know what a quack this guy is so hopefully he won't send anymore patients there...
