Reviews for Stephen Yallourakis
Dr. Yallourakis is great but the wait times are ridiculous. I’ve waited 45 minutes to an hour and a half each time I’ve been here.
Doc done a fantastic job removing my wisdom tooth. I would recommend seeing him for any tooth issue. And also a great staff.
Absolutely horrible. No compassion or understanding. Never explains anything….
Do not waste your time here. Dr. Y may have actually had good training and education; but he is now herding folks through with no regard to time or treatment. He seems so tired and angry as a result of his Work load. He has chosen this life. We do not have to.
Wow, what an easy experience. Had to have a molar pulled. It was so quick and painless that I didn't realize he had it out until he said he was done. Easy to get an appointment and friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
Had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. He did such a good job I didn’t have to take Tylenol or anything very happy. Thank you Dr. Yallourakis. I was so scared and you did the best job.
Absolutely recommend Dr. Yallourakis. Took care of a major dental issue for me and now swiftly addressing another. Staff is great, Doc is friendly and to-the-point.
I would NOT recommend this place . Every time I’ve been here I sit for over an hour and a half sometimes two passed my appointment time before I even see the surgeon . I have no insurance and I pay cash out of pocket and this man don’t even have the respect for his patients to consider we pay his bills our time matters just the same as his . Poor excuse of an office ! The staff are wonderful but he’s a waste of time and money . I won’t pay thousands of dollars for someone who can’t give me 5 minutes of their time . Been over 2 months since my visit and 6 weeks since my insurance company confirmed they made payment to this office, yet I haven't received my money back and thats after my wife was told we would receive it mid last week. They wanted their money upfront but obviously don't care about paying you back after they receive payment from insurance. Bottom line is money is tight for working people these days, you shouldn't make them wait months and you certainly shouldn't make false excuses and not follow thru on what you say. If you consider going here keep in mind you will pay upfront no matter how good your insurance is and will not see it back for a good while if ever? I did not get anethesia ..2/24/22..no pain during surgery and no pain, swelling or any problems after surgery. Easiest dental procedure ever ..great doctor and staff.
Not recommended for seniors who have advantage plans! Seniors, choose an oral surgeon in network to avoid paying out-of-pocket! My husband had additional insurance coverage that was contingent on filing for reimbursement. If this office had provided appropriate documentation, we would have had no bill. Staff said they would provide appropriate forms during initial visit. Multiple requests and phone calls later, we did not receive anything other than a bill. We were out over $1000 when we didn't need to be. This oral surgeon has no special expertise. Nor is he personable. Don't be fooled by "he is in HMG network". Dr. Yallourakis is the best!!!
I was very impressed with the quality of care of this office. Dr. Yallourakis was very concerned with how my daughter would be best served and the best way to save the teeth that were being affected by a growth. I would recommend this office for their (his) honesty and concern for their patients.
Just had a tooth extraction yesterday. This was one of the best customer experiences I have ever had. It's sounds odd to have tooth extraction and best experience in the same sentence, but Dr.Yallourakis and his staff provided a superb customer service experience. I am a consultant and a professor of customer experience and I have used many of my experiences as examples of what not to do. I plan to use this experience as an example of best practices. Dr. Yallourakis is a very decent surgeon. That is why I rated 2 stars. (As opposed to 0) His character and demeanor are quite questionable... He has a terrible attitude. He treats his patients as if they are inferior and moronic. He definitely has a chip on his shoulder and a strong âGod complexâ. An extremely rude individual, whom needs to work on his people skills.
part 2) Also I want to point out that he was rude when saying what he said. I knew I needed to pay for the first visit. I waited another hour and thought I was going to have to walk out because i was going to be late to pick my kid up from daycare. i thank they herd me talking to my husband complaining about what has happened so far. they Finnish up and send me to pay my bill. when i go to pay they get me to pay first for this visit. then tell me that he wont file with my insurance. So to make my point i sat there from 3:20 to 5:50 wasting my time and my money. Something needs to be done about this place. Also he said he would wanted to wait till one of my teeth was worse, even though he said it looked infected.
The absolutely worst experience ever!! I will never see this Dr again. My time is very valuable to me and he wasted a whole day.
If you need an oral surgeon you simply cannot beat Dr. Yallourakis. I guarantee he is the best oral surgeon in Kingsport
I faint if I get anywhere near an oral surgeon, but once I explained that to Dr. Yallourakis, he was able to put me at ease. First time ever I didn’t hate my experience in the chair
He extracted a tooth that had been previously crowned and had abcessed, for me. I can't say enough how awesome he and his excellent staff were. So nice and very professional. I have nothing but great things to say about them all.
Dr. Yallourakis at HMG is so good with kids! I was dreading the day I had to take my child and have a tooth removed. But he was so good that it was over in no time.
If you need an oral surgeon and you have a choice then you should definitely go and see Dr. Yallourakis. I was terrified when I went to go have an impacted tooth removed but by the time I was in the chair they had made me so comfortable that the experience was not scary at all.
If you need fast dental implants, then you really need to visit Dr. Yallourakis. These guys were so great and I got my implants the same day with no fuss.
Had dental pain for several months and my dentist couldn’t figure it out even after sending me to a specialist for consult. But Dr. Y was able to figure it out after a single visit and solve the problem after one additional visit. I believe he is the best oral surgeon in the Tri-Cities area
I moved to Kingsport about 4 years ago, and the first thing I needed to do was to call an oral surgeon. My dentist told me not to go to anyone else and that Dr. Y was the best. I'm still going to him to this day. Would highly recommend!
I’m so glad Dr. Yallourakis is the oral surgeon that my dentist refers people to. Both times I have gone (once for a wisdom tooth extraction and once for an implant) have been really amazing.
I recently saw Dr. Yallourakis at HMG to have two wisdom teeth extracted. I have nightmares about not being numb enough and lots of other stuff, but none of it happened and they took care of me. World-class! Would recommend!
if your dentist recommends anyone except Dr. Yallourakis for oral surgery, I would ask him to reconsider. I’ve been to the oral surgeon several times due to a mouthful of teeth problems and have never had a better experience and felt better treated anywhere.
I was pleasantly surprised to have such a positive experience with Dr. Yallourakis. I had been to an oral surgeon once before, and the doctor was very standoffish and unfriendly. That was not the case at all with Dr. Y. He was very friendly and patient and explained everything I needed to know beforehand.
I would’ve done anything to avoid going to the oral surgeon, but my dentist was insistent. I needed a tooth removed and he just didn’t have the skill to do it. Looked up Dr. Yallourakis and found out that he has a dental degree, a medical degree and he also received the best oral surgeon award in Kingsport. I highly recommend Dr. Yallourakis as an oral surgeon. Great doctor and was able to have me out of there in about 45 minutes. This is the best place that I have found for getting dental implants. It was a near painless process when I thought it was going to be horrifying.
I don't remember much about getting my wisdom teeth out, besides crying and taking a very long nap once I got home. However the recovery time was much quicker than expected. Highly recommended as an oral surgeon ????
I have avoided having my wisdom teeth extraction for a long time and at 43 years old, all I had everyone tell me was how terrible it's going to be at my age. I was extremely anxious. Dreamed of everything that could go wrong. Got myself worked up to the point of tears before. Here I am on may second day of recovery of 4 tooth ectraction. The doctor said that one of them was rather difficult. I have very little swelling, no bruises and honestly, asside from the headache and the restrictive diet, I am doing great. Thanks Dr Yallourakis. Now if I can do my part to avoid the dry sockets we will be all good. Update: I think I'm on day 4. On a scale of 1-10 for discomfort I am fortunately around a 3. It's funny tk me that I was so stressed about getting it done. Can't wait to eat some pizza but it's ok. Almost time for my follow up Thursday and in expect everything is going to be great. Trying not to worry about the dry sockets but all is well at the moment. I'll update again after follow up. Hope this helps someone that is stressing about the preceedure. Update Day 8: Had my follow-up yesterday and all is well. This morning I feel great! I guess my summary is simple, I highly recommend Dr Yallourakis. 4 wisdom teeth out, a couple complicated, over 40 and 8 days I'm in great shape.... What more do you want? Dr.Yallourakis and team are 100% professional . I have been in the Medical field since 1995 and know “IT” when I’m around it. Two implants done without complications have left me very grateful for the recommendation from my dentist . He is a no nonsense, direct and talented Oral Surgeon.
Highly competent , highly experienced Profesional. Team of nurses and others a delight! Well worth the drive and any wait time . Two implants and extraction without complications. More to be done.
He is extremely rude to patients and his own staff as well, crappy follow ups,he is very rushed in his routine, does not take the necessary time to properly explain his procedures, nor does he take into much consideration a patient'e need for medication. I have also heard painful screams from other patients on 2 ocassions. I have been there 5 times. I really don't know how the nurses are putting up with this guy...don't ever go there. Not recommended.
The doctor was very rude to my elderly mother and father. Long wait times, he was behind, don’t take it out on the patient.
Doctor is ok, billing and staff lack experience and professionalism. Argued to the point, where it became insipid over something extremely miniscule. WILL NOT Recommend or come to this office again. I would rather drive 100 miles then come here again.
The Dr is rude, arrogant, and has no bedside manner. On top of that, I had 2 insurances he refused to file the 2nd insurance and expected me to have 1500 dollars by Thursday, which is a 2 day notice. He is greedy. Don't go to him! Wanted me to pay the total up front because my insurance "too long to pay him". Go anywhere else besides him. All he cares about is money. Worst experience at a dentist I have ever had in 33 years. They quoted everything that was possible over the phone and then when you arrive and see the doctor all these surprises happen .That is all after waiting over 2 and a half hours after my appointment time . Their policy is to collect the entire amount for anestesia up front but they don't tell you that over the phone. This explains why he has a 2 star review. He is rude and condescending .He said oh you use vape drugs? I said no I vape 3mg nicotine not drugs .He said oh that's a drug too . Worst experience at a dentist I have ever had in 33 years. The doctor is rude, arrogant, has no bedside manner and cares nothing about his patients. My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed an hour ago. I walked into recovery and she was extremely alert and very traumatized. She proceeded to tell me she woke up during the surgery 3 times. The first time, she tried saying ow, I can feel that and he pushed her head back on the table and apparently gave her more medicine. She had a red mark on her forehead from his gloved fingers. The second time she was also trying to tell them it hurt and they pushed her legs down. She said she heard the doctor say the f word at least 4 times towards her. The 3rd time, she was choking on the gauze and couldn't breathe because a piece of it was lodged in her throat. They pulled the gauze out and left her in the recovery room alone for several minutes to calm down before they would even come get me. Take into account that she is a minor and I should have been alerted immediately to any issues. I questioned the doctor and he literally laughed and said, "that's impossible, you must have been dreaming" and walked right out of the room. I tried talking to the nurse and she wouldn't answer my questions. She told me to go get the car and take her home. My daughter is not the least bit groggy or sedated. My husband had this done a little over a year ago ( different doctor) and was out of it for hours and doesn't remember anything. I'm sure sure if they didn't give her enough medicine or what happened but either way, the doctor and his staff should have been trying to figure out what wasn't working and attempt to not only correct it but to comfort a scared teenager instead of worrying about getting her out of their as quickly as possible. I would never recommend this place or this doctor. I will be reporting him as soon as I research the best way to do so. Horrible experience. Do not take your children here! Our first visit we waited for 1 1/2 hours to be taken back for my sons consultation, to be seen for 5 minutes. Go back the next day for his surgery to remove one extra tooth. We wait over 2 hours to be taken back from his appointment time. Then another 1 1/2 hours in the room in the back before anyone came in to see him. When they did come in, it was 2 nurses who basically told me to go wait outside...no bedside manners or personable experience there. Then after I wait for over an hour for them to come and get me to go back to him, as the nurse is walking me back she tells me that he is very upset. That is unusual for my son as he has had multiple surgeries and procedures and never had an issue. When I get to him, my almost 12 year old son is a hysterical mess crying and in pain. He tells me that he was awake and felt everything. When I asked the nurse she tells me he is lying. After him telling me over and over he felt everything and was wide awake the whole time, I questioned her again. She then tells me that they don’t sedate them or put them to sleep to do surgeries, we were told he would be put to sleep and I was told part of the $219 copay I paid was for the anesthesia to put him to sleep. Then she told me that he did complain of it hurting during the surgery, but that Dr. Yallourakis felt he was numb enough to not stop. They literally had us rushing out of the recovery room in less than 10 mins from the time I was taken back to him. Him in tears and wallowing in pain from never being fully numbed. And when I asked about what to give him for the pain, they told me to give him children’s Tylenol. I am livid. I will be sure to tell anyone and everyone I know about this experience and will never take my children or myself back to this office. I can not believe a doctor of his statute would perform surgery on a patient with the patient crying and telling them they can feel everything and aren’t numb. Horrible experience. Whether you’re just in need of a quick tooth extraction or whether the procedure is a little more complicated than this, I’ll always trust Dr Y when it comes to my own health and my family members’ - and we’ve been going to him for years as a family because of his advanced training and high quality of work.
I’ve been self conscious about the way I look ever since I was a teenager. Dr Y helped me to get a huge part of my confidence back just by helping me get the incredible smile that I’ve always wanted. I found him to be very skilled and knowledgeable.

I cracked a tooth during a breakfast meeting and it went right into the nerve. Stopped by Dr Yallourakis for an emergency tooth extraction, the same day, and I didn’t even spend a long time in the waiting room. He really cares about his patients and it’s the same with his staff.
I’m used to a long wait at an oral surgeon’s office, and it’s something that I really can’t afford when it comes to having to get a tooth extracted and going back to work. Someone at work recommended Dr Y when I needed to have a tooth extracted, and I didn’t even spend 20 minutes waiting at the office.
I’d cracked a tooth somewhere in the middle of 2015, and I’ve been putting off getting it fixed for ages. When someone recommended Dr Y, I’d decided to check him out – and he did an excellent, painless job removing it along with the implant-all in the same day! I’ve been back trhee times since and I won’t go to anybody else.
I’ll always recommend Dr Y to my friends and colleagues. I’ve been going to him for a few months now to repair damage done in a car accident. He did a great job of giving me my smile and self confidenence back. Plus, his team always follows up with a phone call when the next appointment is coming up.
A few years ago I had a wisdom tooth removal done badly by another dentist. I didn’t want to go back to the original doctor. Dr Yallourakis managed to fix the damage done by the other doctor in almost no time – thanks!
I’m much happier with my smile after seeing the doctor. Even something as terrifying as a tooth extraction took place quickly, and the doctor was able to rrplace my bad teeth with beautiful implants the same day. Sttaff did a great job of making me feel reassured until everything was done too!
If you’re ever scared of seeing an oral surgeon like I’ve been for years, you should switch to Dr Yallourakis. His staff are friendly, he always reassures you while he’s working – and he knows what he’s doing, and has a lot of experience ( he’s also a real MD) which is pretty important when it comes to who you want as your oral surgeon.
Dr Yallourakis is the most clued-up oral surgeon that I’ve met when it comes to pain relief, and he did a great job when it came to removing about three teeth that I’d had problems with for a long time. I’d expected it to hurt, but when he said, “Done” I’d mostly just felt relief. Thanks, Dr Y!
Tooth pulling and implants are known for being an uncomfortable and painful procedure – and it’s why most people go a huge part of their lives avoiding a visit to the oral surgeon. Pardon the pun, I’d decided to bite the bullet and see Dr Y for 2 implants I’d been putting off, and I was met with excellent service, friendly staff and an excellent oral surgeon. I’ve been to another oral surgeon before, and I’d found it a horrible experience. But then I went to Dr Y for a cracked tooth repair this year, and I think I’ll keep coming back to him for whatever I need next. Didn’t spend long in the waiting room, and the appointment itself was fast and painless.

I had to go in for oral surgery (dental implants) at Dr Yallourakis a few months ago. The operation itself was incredibly painless. I’d had to go back for a follow-up appointment a week later, and they even called to remind me about the appointment a day before.
After having pain in my jaw for a few days, I went to see Dr Yallourakis about the problem. Turns out it was my wisdom teeth: He’d fixed it within one surgery, and it was more painless than I thought it would be. Since then he’s seen my wife and kid with great results.
Dr Y had done an excellent job installing my dental implants, and the entire process had been quick and painless – and it was enough to give me the confidence in my smile back so I could start living again with a beautiful smile. Thanks, Dr Y! Always friendly staff, and they always follow up.

He is a very fast-paced surgeon, and a man of few words (which isn’t a bad thing!). He gets the job done and gets out, but he will take the time to answer your questions. The wait time in the lobby can be long, so be prepared with something to read or watch. I would highly recommend him. I had all four wisdom teeth taken out in one surgery. I used to work in this office, we scheduled patients according to Dr. Yallourakis. He makes the schedule. He is a greedy person that never takes responsibility for his actions. He focuses on how holes are punched in the chart instead of being concerned about the patient and their time. He has no respect for his employees and treats them like they are below him. Dr. Yallourakis controls the wait time, so if you have to wait 2hrs, complain to him!
Plan to spend an eternity in the waiting room. When you finally get to see him, the doctor is fantastic. Very businesslike, very competent, very personable. But WOW! whoever schedules him does an awful job. For the consult we got to the appointment on time, waited 45 minutes in the front room and another 45+ minutes in the exam room - for a 15 minute consult! For the actual tooth extraction, arrived on time and waited over 90 minutes in the waiting room. Hoping to get out of here today before the office closes for the day. Doctor gets 5+ stars. Office staffing/scheduling is abysmal - if there was a 0 star rating I would use it. Clearly does not respect patients' time (but, again, I don't blame the doctor for this - the Suits run medical practices these days.)

Rude, arrogant. Waited 3 hours. My mother has power of attorney of my dad, he jumped all over her because she signed his paperwork asking if she had been to a lawyer. My dad can’t sign. He treated them like they were stupid. Bery uncompassionate, my dad has dementia.
I went to Dr for an implant. He was courteous and took the time to go through procedure and what to expect before/after. Had smooth surgery and little pain afterwards! Thank you so much Dr. Yallourakis! Would highly recommend to anyone seeking great oral surgeon

This place sucks. They take forever to even get to you for a consultation. I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes and in a actually room for an hour or more. I went to ask what was going and was told to get back in the room. I only gave them one star because I had to.
The most unprofessional office I have ever been too. I have waited for over an hour to see the doctor with no apology. I would recommend driving to Knoxville to save time!
Takes hours past appt time to be seen. Every time you visit. Do no listen to your allergies--even if you tell them multiple times. Very uncaring and motivated only by $. Have over 10 Drs I regularly see and have never been treated like this in thousands of appts with allmy providers. Choose a different provider!

Very fast tooth extraction!
Got my wisdom teeth taken out. Excellent work!
Good care from both doctor and staff. Busy office so there is a little bit of a wait, but the good care makes up for it. Would recommend.
Dr. Yallourakis was very good at explaining what was going on with my back molar and outlining my treatment options. Staff was also helpful and friendly.
Liked Dr. Yallourakis a lot. Experienced and very competent. Not the most talkative guy but he is really good at what he does. Did three implants for me. 5 stars.
