I just used your pain cream on my hand which was swollen and painful. I couldn’t even make a fist. After 3 applications I can now make a fist with no pain. I’m an 82 year old former firefighter who has known pain most of my life and this is the first product that does what it says it will do. Thank you.

Anonymous, but I’ll bet we all are to him.

I have never in my life left a review for a doctor, positive or negative. I’m leaving this review because I can’t believe how arrogant and inappropriate this man was. The “do no harm” part of the oath was violated. A lot, actually. Mr. Pyles is either unaware of his place in the dominant position in the power dynamic here or he’s aware and he just does not care to respect it OR the patient. I have a message to YOU in particular Mr. Pyle: In pain management, the DOCTOR IS IN CONTROL OF THE PATIENTS ABILITY TO LIVE A FUNCTIONAL LIFE. You need to RESPECT THIS. I felt unable to stand up for myself while YOU totally disrespected me, undermined my intelligence, and JUDGED ME. I was upfront about my mental state, and you abused that. You are not fit for patients. You do not see your patients as people. You were verbally aggressive, insulted me, and belittled me. Your staff apologized for you because you LEFT THE ROOM. This is irresponsible and unethical and your non-apology not accepted.

Went for a new patient visit. Dr. Plyes did not request my records from my last pain doctor . He was going by what I put down. He then tried to tell me my Medical problems I have had for 30 years is not my problem. Note he had no records he started to raise his voice at me. He wouldn’t let me talk. I had to literally tell him to stop talking to let me talk. I felt very attacked. And was very upset when I left. I never went back after that visit. Total Jerk. DO NOT RECOMMEND. With all the negative reviews of this condescending narcissist pig there’s really not much I need to say. Yes I’m talking about Dr. Stephen Pyles...just to be clear. I gave him one last chance and told my regular doctor about what was going on. My doctor encouraged me to move on if I was uncomfortable and so I am. Good day

Simply put Dr. Pyles is incredibly amazing. He is a highly skilled professional, knowledgable in all that he does and most importantly has the best bedside manner you will ever find in a doctor. Dr. Pyles carefully listens to your complaints and helps you with your ailments to eliminate them in the best possible way. My mother was in agonizing pain when she went to see Dr. Pyles, thankfully he was able to help her with her pain allowing her to be able to function in her day to day life. We greatly appreciate all that Dr. Pyles does for us. He has truly been a Godsend!!!

My husband & I are 79 & almost 81 and suffer from crippling chronic arthritis pain. We have been pain management patients of Dr. Pyles and his staff for probably 3 or more years now and disagree with the low ratings on other reviews posted. We have been very pleased with him and his providers, especially "Marty" who understands how much pain we endure on a daily basis and who takes time to evaluate & assess our condition at every appointment. We're very thankful for having Dr. Pyles' staff caring for us.

Never have I ever been treated this way by a professional of any sort!! I had been seen by his other Drs in his practice (Which were also sub-par) & finally got to see Dr. Pyles! When he walked in the office, I started off by saying, 'I finally get to meet The Man! The Myth! The Legend!' Give him praise over the stories I had heard...boy did he prove me wrong!! This man not only was yelling at me like a child, he was basically diminishing my pain and insinuated that I was lying because no one in pain would be smiling and laughing!! If there was some way to report him to the medical board I would!! Left the office crying and will NEVER GO BACK!! I advise anyone thinking of going to his office as an option, please reconsider !! I went to see Dr. Pyles a while back, and had the worst experience of my life. I was treated so badly. I was kept there for 3 hours in such pain. His assistant came in during this time and took down my information. Left me waiting for a very long time in so much pain for "him to make his "grand appearance". So it ended up being that way. He finally made his grand entrance and proceeds to put his feet on his desk, leans back in his chair, places his hands behind his head and begins his grueling questions over and over again. By this time my Home Health Aide was wondering what on earth had happened to me. She was getting worried and rightfully so. She also had been scared sitting in the waiting room due to the unprofessionalism she was witnessing. After the assistant had questioned me. Then. She left me sitting waiting for Doctor Pyles to come in Waiting. Waiting, he finally makes his grand entrance. Very intimidating and arrogant. He sits at his desk and begins his grueling questions over and over again. Why? What for? I didn't want him to prescribe Pot or Opioids! I was in Pain. Some other solution? I couldn't understand why he was being so demeaning. He seemed to enjoy it. I had had enough. I stood up and walked out. I said to my HHA, we're leaving. She was wondering what was happening but saw this big man on my heels and a woman right behind him scurrying after me. What for? I was kind, even in my silent disgust. Never said one cruel word, or raised my voice. I do believe that he had perhaps never had anyone said No to him and get up and leave never looking back. He then was the one, knowing he had gone to far. I was not rude. Said no unkind words. Sat in silent pain. Did not complain. Answered hers and then his grueling questions. Humbly sat there. But he finally just made me realize I needed to leave and I could not take one minute more. I simply said. " I've had it, I'm leaving.", got up and proceeded to leave, never to come back. Never looking back. However. This big man was on my heels hovering over me, as I was walking out along with his assistant. My HHA and I were very frightened by this behavior. Then, He locked the door as I just stepped out, however, I turned to request my records back, realizing I wanted all association with his practice wiped out, as actually I had received no treatment at all. Just mistreatment and intimidation or so he tried. I immediately knew I would never be coming back. So no need for records. That's when we saw the big Marijuana sign. If I had seen that before entering I would have never gone to him as that was not what I was looking for. Yet I understand the needs of others. I can truly say. I have never experienced such demeaning, cruelty in my life. Nor had my HHA been followed out a Doctors door and been locked out. We both had to sit in the car a minute to gather ourselves from a nightmare. I went to see Dr. Pyles a while back, and had the worst experience of my life. I was treated so badly. I first saw Dr. Pyles for epidural injections after transferring from another doctor when I moved. After receiving injections for several years, the duration of relief diminished. I was told by both doctors that this would eventually happen. Dr. Pyles then recommended the SCS. I was resistant at first and only after seeing two orthopedic surgeons who agreed with Dr. Pyles' recommendation did I undergo the procedure. The SCS reduced my back pain so much that it was truly life-altering. It has now been almost three years since my procedure and I am still happy. Dr. Pyles was excellent in explaining and answering all of my questions and performing the procedure. Both Dr. Pyles and the SCS have my highest recommendation.

He is the most condescending Dr I’ve ever encountered! I was told I had an appointment for epidural shot in my lumbar region. When I got there and after waiting, the nurse told me I couldn’t get the epidural until he met with me. I advised her that was not what I was told. I took off work to get this. I was told not to take Advil or any blood thinners. Why would they tell me this if it was not true. Dr Pyles came in and raised his voice telling me about office procedures. I told him I am not aware of these procedures because I’m not employed there. I’m just a patient who did what I was told. I couldn’t believe how badly I was treated by him. This man is very unprofessional and extremely arrogant. How dare he speak to me in a loud tone of voice in front of nurses and other patients. Shame on him!! Thank you Dr Pyles for getting me out of my powered wheelchair along with the terrible high levels of chronic pain I have dealt with for so very long. Needing to be in bed on average 20 to 22 hours a day to keep my pain from spiraling out of control meant isolation for me for the last 14 years. It is joyful and overwhelming to be able to walk again. I never thought I would ever have a chance of having a relatively normal life let alone walk again unaided. I do not even need a cane. Dr Pyles you have changed my life dramatically. To be honest when I first came to your office you told me why I was having issues with my device; I was skeptical. Over the last 20 years with chronic pain I have had many, many doctors tell me they could help me but never could or just said there is nothing I can do for you and sent me on my way. I now have my life back. Praise God for leading me to you. While I still have chronic pain the levels are low and I can busy myself and take my mind off the lower levels. My 20 years experience with pain management practices have been mostly demoralizing. Everyone I come in contact with in your office has treated me as a human being worthy of respect and treated me with dignity. That in itself is worthy of a 5 star rating by my experience. If you are in chronic pain or have been in chronic pain for some time now and not getting the pain relief you need I highly recommend Dr Pyles and the Pain Treatment Centers. God bless you and yours Dr Pyles and thank you so very much for helping me. I want to say God Bless and thank you to each and every one of you who works at the Pain Treatment Centers in Ocala Florida. All of you have treated me professionally and compassionately everytime I come to your office. A special thank you and God Bless goes to your Flowonix representative who has been so kind and helpful. She is by far the best device representative I ever had. She's number one out of four device representatives I have had since 2009. Her kindness is noticed and appreciated. For the last 14 years I’ve had multiple things wrong with me, I thought it was all normal for a life of a professional firefighter. Over the last 8 years things started to get worse and doctor after doctor would diagnose the problems as being from “9/11, PTSD, mental, even a brain tumor from The World TradeCenter,” of course! November of 2020 I went to Pain Treatment Centers in Ocala for one of my normal appointments. When speaking with Dr. Marty, I told him I had a paralysis attack the morning before... everything came to a screeching halt. He asked for more detail, how long has this been happening, how long does it last, what parts of your body get effected, and what doctors have I seen? When I told him 7 doctors over the course of 8 years, he immediately sent me to a Neurologist, Dr. Kim. After an MRI was ordered of my neck, it revealed a severe compression of my spinal cord, C3-C4. The MRI also revealed that my injury “should have made me a quadriplegic!” I was immediately sent to The Mayo Clinic for spinal surgery. I’m currently 4 weeks into my spinal surgery recovery and I feel absolutely fantastic. No more brain fog, no more dizziness, no more antidepressants, no more anti inflammatories, no more depending on pills to get me functional. I can’t believe this is how I’m supposed to feel! I can’t put into words the excitement, happiness and appreciation I feel. I’m 41 and feel like I’ve been rejuvenated. Thank you Dr. Marty, you have been the locomotive in this diagnosis, fix, and recovery train!!!! Was treated as though I was only there for drugs.Would not let me explain anything wanted a yes and no answer. He was very disrespectful, and did this with a smile on his face.He stated he does not give more than 3 oxycodone a day when I told him they lasted only 5 hrs his reply was he knew this I ask him what was I supposed to do and he shrugged his shoulders.I told him I had a rhizotomy 4 years ago and that I had been out of pain for 4 years his reply was"I have been doing rhizotomies for 35 years and I have never heard of that".. I told him it was apparent that he did not believe and our relationship would not work.Do yourself a favor and stay away from this dr.Like I said after 4 years of being pain free, because of the rhizotomy, the pain has returned.

Dr. Pyles and Staff are the absolute best. Caring about their patients is a given. I just can't say enough about this wonderful Dr. I have known him for 30 years, and still think the World of him. He helped me 30 years ago, when I was in an accident, that left me in severe pain. So years later, when I needed his services again, he was there to help. Wish all Doctors had the compassion and caring that he and staff have. Sometimes the wait time might be a little long, but that could be you that he is helping.

Pushed morphine pump. Installed it $ I spent the weekend throwing up at home. Multiple calls to office with no help from Dr. Pyles. 12 days later, after feeling totally miserable, he found a spinal fluid leak at the office $ I went back into hospital for another operation. No explanation for why it happened or how he fixed it. Again more throwing up with no help from office or Dr. Pyles. Two visits to ER later & back to Dr. Pyles office where he went ballistic after we mentioned the ER tried to contact him. He yelled at us for 2 hours & even brought his staff into our visit to back him up which I felt violated my heppa rights. He wouldn't let my wife ask questions & I was in such misery I could barely talk. He jumped up, said he was dumping us & came back with a referral. Another visit to ER & admitted to hospital. He never visited me at hospital & said none of this was his problem. A hospital nurse said Pyles hates calls & questions. We feel our care & treatment was negligent. Beware

He is thorough, conservative in his treatment, only recommending the stimulator as a last resort. His treatment plan was clear, I actively participated in that plan and was treated with respect, kindness and care. Went to this doctor a few months. First visit with Dr. Pyles was great. He did mention his spinal stimulator. The next few visits was with his NP Marty. He did nothing but push the stimulator or a pain pump. I wanted neither and was basically given an ultimatum. Try to force you to do something you don’t want to do. Don’t go here

Dr. Pyles correctly diagnosed my hip pain after other doctors had failed to do so for many years. He treated my right SI joint with outpatient surgery and I am now pain free. I recommend Dr. Pyles to anyone who is patient and will listen and do what he suggests.

I have been a patient of doctor Pyles going on 5 years now. I have had numerous surgeries on my neck To try to repair my vertebrae it was unsuccessful so my only option was to try to control the pain. I searched and found doctor Pyles to be one of the best pain management doctors in the field. He went through my case and when decided the course of action would be a morphine pump implant. This has been a life changing event. If you are in need of a pain management doctor I would highly recommend doctor Pyles

Dr. Balaraman referred Dr. Pyles for pain management, she said he was the Best. .....He's Rude with an inflated opinion of himself. He overinjected on one side of my neck instead of both sides. What he injected created more pain and severe anxiety. I experienced seizures with my tongue being drawn and not able to speak. PLEASE USE CAUTION I was very frightened . I go back for follow up with Marty Potrawski who was back on page 0, (clueless)....he ran in and out of the room to speak with someone in another room.... unprofessional to say the least. Just an extremely rude doctor who has the God complex. I probably saw him for about 2 minutes and he called me an addict, which I am not nor have I ever been. I am dependent on pain medicine (hydrocodone/acetaminophen) as I have failed back surgery, scoliosis, and a severe fracture above my rods. He wanted to prescribe methadone. At the time of this review, my quality of life has improved greatly, due to finally, the SCS. All my questions were answered both during the trial phase, and pre/post permanent placement. I have tried every pain pill, back epidurals, cortisone shots, steroids, etc...and still had severe back pain everyday since 2013. My last surgery was in Feb 22,2018 and after all that my pain gradually gotten worse. I was referred to Dr Stephen Pyles at Pain Treatment Center in Ocala. From my symptoms , medical records and examination he recommended the SCS trial therapy ( Spinal Cord Stimulator) to see if it would work for me .... and it has !!! The past couple of days I have had NO PAIN at all! I just didn’t think it was possible. The representatives of Boston Scientific ( Ben is the one working with me ) are very informative and extremely helpful. Angelica, and Ben call me every night to see how I’m feeling and how the stimulator is working for me . I was having pain through my hip and down through my button on my right side that traveled as far as the back of my knee. The first thing to know about Dr Pyles is that he is a bit awkward to talk to. I've found that some of the best specialists I've had have been that way. He is extremely knowledgeable about his field and he took my pain away witha spinal cord stimulator. In five years only doctor pyles has given me an option other than more meds or dealing with it.
