Dr. Houseworth provided a very sort 7 minute pre-op review for a torn meniscus. No alternatives, long term effects, or even visual review of the MRI was provided. Additionally he scheduled the surgery for a day when the regular surgical team was not usually available due his need to leave town because he is not full time on the Oregon Coast. I find his manner patronizing and his communication abilities reprehensible. I fully regret the large amount of money expended in seeing this physician.

He was unable to do the all important syndesmotic screw or affix the posterior malleolus fragment of my broken ankle. I’ve been in a boot, using a walker, unable to drive, and awaiting second surgery for 9 months now.

Dr Stephen Houseworth did a very poor job on my badly broken ankle. FYI, he’s licensed in 8 states, and he did my surgery in Massachusetts but has now moved on to Oregon. He wasn’t able to put in the syndesmosis screw (“plate was in the way”). He put in a screw that doesn’t even reach the broken posterior malleolus fragment.

Dr Stephen Houseworth is now practicing in Massachusetts, and operated on my very badly broken right ankle 7 months ago. If you have a complicated break please use another surgeon. He was unable to put in a syndesmotic screw and now my tibia and fibula have significant widening. He was unable to affix an anterior posterior malleolus screw (it’s there but doesn’t reach the broken fragment at all). I may have to wear a custom brace for the rest of my life and drive with my left foot.
