Dr. Stephen. Esses did my back surgery after two weeks. I feel like I got my life back all the nerve pain is gone. All I could say is he did a great job. Thank you Dr. Esses!

My name is Haley regueira and dr esses is absolutely amazing. He's caring and very helpful. He has changed my life for the better. I'm able to do my every day tasks now and I'm living a better quality life. The staff are all very wonderful and I have and will continue to recommend his honest work to every one who needs help with back pain. Dr. Esses is a awesome doctor. So some it may seem like speaking to him is short and interrupted. But I assure you that he is looking for certain details in what hurts you, where the pain is, and how it's effecting you. I was in surgery, scheduled for 2 hrs and with his knowledge and years of experience. He performed the surgery and had me closed up in less then an hour. I was having walking issues with pain in my feet. Not knowing it was from my lower back that I had previously had issue through my time in the military. What would of taken the VA 8 months to even get me in surgery. Dr. Esses and his staff, had me in appointment 1 to surgery in 2 months after running the test needed to perform the correct procedure. I give him a 5 star plus, hands down.

My name is Maricela González de Álamo Tx.. on August 3 Dr. Esses did a surgery on my spine.. here in McAllen they didn't want to take care of me.My pain was very strong.. they gave me an injection. They sent me to therapy and it didn't work, my pain was so strong that it prevented me from doing my daily activities, such as walking, sitting down and I decided to look for myself without any reference a Dr. In Houston, I had always heard that the best doctors were there. I started looking and I found Dr. Sthepen Esses and I read that he was an excellent I spoke and they told me that I didn't need a reference, they gave me an appointment the following week, and in two weeks he did the surgery... it was very painful because I had to travel from Houston to McAllen Tx. 2 weeks passed, I returned to my first date and I didn't feel any improvement... a month passed, another month and I felt the same, I felt a lot of pain, He told me that it was a long process and that I had to wait. I felt my legs numb. I heard that therapeutic yoga was excellent exercises. I started my exercises and started taking vitamins B6, B1 and B12. Thank God and Dr. Esses at 4 and a half months old and I don't feel anymore my legs numbs, and my pain is almost or less than 20%. I continue with my yoga and chair exercises. Iam feeling very good. THANK YOU DR. STEPHENS ESSES AND HIS STAFF. I ALREADY RECOMMENDED IT TO TWO PEOPLE. 100% RECOMMENDED. VERY PROFESSIONAL AND DEDICATED.

I first met Dr. Stephen Esses in 2008 when I had an accident at a client's location in Kansas City, Ks. This physician to me is the "the best of the best" when it comes to back and neck issues. I had a severe lower back injury from a slip and fall on Black Ice. Dr. Esses handled my issues with eventual surgery and I was back to my normal routine in no time. Now you would think that this story would be over with a happy ending but fast forward to May 2020 and a lady ran into the back of my vehicle when I was at a complete stop. 14 years later I'm back to see Dr. Esses and for my neck. I saw three (3) highly reputable orthopedic and neurosurgeons to get their recommendations, either get the surgery or be confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of my life. I like him, personality, gets the job done with precision and with solid foundation of professionalism. Never a wait to see him. I would recommend him to everyone. Big shout out to Dr. Esses and his whole medical team. I would rate a 10+ if I could.. I had my Tailbone removed in March 2022, stiches removed 2 weeks later and today 4/21/22 was a follow up with The Main Man Dr S Esses. It's ashame I no longer need to see him because pain is gone and I healed extremely well with no complications. From making an appointment, through to following up after surgery, these people are absolute professionals and they do not waste your time. After seeing all of the great reviews about Dr. Stephen Esses I was really excited to see him on today. My thoughts were that I'd finally found a physician that will be able to help ease if not cure the extreme neck and back pain that I have been having for a little over three years. To my dismay the drive to the physician's office was longer than my visit and the outcome was very disheartening. I was told that I needed to get physical therapy. I had my surgery 10/15/2021and I literally had no pain from the surgery. I'm still healing from the decompression. I had to have lower back surgery and it was a HUGE success! NO MORE PAIN like I was in. Dr. Esses is an awesome person and a surgeon who knows what's he's doing. Even his staff is great! If you have any type of back pain or sciatica pain… go see Dr. Esses. I had a very sudden issue with my sciatica that needed immediate attention. Not only was I seen fast, but the front staff and medical team worked diligently for me to be seen, have testing done and ultimately surgery within a 2.5 week period. I completely trusted him through the whole process, especially since I have an infant. He can be short and to the point (and to some it may feel rushed), but if you have ANY questions he will stop and answer every single question you have without making you feel like you are “wasting” his time(and I had a lot!). He also doesn’t promote surgery first and foremost… in my case I just happened to need it (based on my injury) before trying PT and other rehabilitation methods. If for some reason you do need back surgery, you will not regret the expertise and experience of Dr. Esses. You are in good hands and I got my life back. Very friendly and quality service and extremely professional

Worst doctor ever does not spend any time with you but a couple minutes, is it even is a couple minutes? I have a broken disc and gave me medication only for 7 seven day and requested therapy. I have been going to therapy and after 3 months I have requested a refill obviously I am not misusing my medication and can not even give me a refill without being seen. This is the worst ever just a waste of money. I do not see the point of being seen, I have a broken disc and there will always be pain. All they want to do is take your money. The office was very easy to find with enormous amount of room in their lobby to stay with CDC guidelines and the staff was extremely helpful and very kind. Dr. Esses was very efficient in his findings of my current situation and gave direct feedback and steps that need to be taken.

Dr. Esses was very compassionate to my extreme neck pain. His staff was very nice and helped me get an MRI really fast! He sent me to physical therapy that helped so much!

I told him that I wanted to exhaust all other forms of therapy and he listened to my concerns. I tried everything and then I started noticing that I began to get worse. After trying multiple therapies, it was decided that a microdiscectomy at L4- L5 would really help me. I can honestly say that after almost 4 weeks of surgery, I am pain free. I can't believe it! He makes me feel like I’m the only patient there. I felt my entire career depended on his ability to perform the surgery on my neck. However, I was not worried the least bit. Excellent service! The office runs like a well oiled machine. Follow up calls are quick, caring and professional. Check ins are done well, safely and very swiftly. Dr. E is kind and knowledgeable. He made me feel very comfortable in my painful time of need. I have several health challenges and this doctor and his office staff has renewed my confidence in the medical profession. I have been frustratingly amazed at how poorly many medical offices operate. As my care continues with Dr. E, I feel Blessed to have him as my spinal health overseer.

I had a great experience at Dr. Esses office. I was very apprehensive about my appointment because I have been dealing with my medical issue for a while now. But the Dr and nurses made me feel at ease and I trust them to help me on my journey to a full recovery!

Dr. Esses has provided me with very good care. He is knowledgeable and very attentive to my issues. His phone answering staff is HORRIBLE. They are rude, disrespectful, do not return phone calls and cannot follow-up with confirming appointment or insurance claims. I have called his office four times to set up my physical therapy appointments. When I finally spoke to someone, they gave me two numbers and I had to set up my own appointments.

Great doctor

The doctor was brusk, un-feeling and wanted me out as quickly as possible. I cannot explain all of the positive reviews he has gotten. Perhaps he was having a very bad day. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I feel beyond the doctor asking the timeline of my situation he did not go in depth about his prognosis. He did not get the info of how the injury has affected me, only to know the injury exists. He asked me to do 3 movements and determined it wasn't nerve related I guess. But I still have physical pain at times so what do you see for me longterm? Does this get better? Basically just a wait and see approach but no expertise I can use.

Went very well

I am a first time patient and was able to see Dr. Esses with little to no wait time. Dr. Esses worked quickly, but thoroughly in getting to the bottom of my problem. He seemed very knowledgeable and was open to addressing my concerns.

I love this doctor and all of his staff. they know there stuff and they are good at what they do. I give them a hundred stars.

Called to schedule appointment, and asked the rep if they take Molina Marketplace she said is that Medicaid? I said no.. Private. She said IDK.. The girl that knows is off, she will be back tomorrow.. OMG

Absolutely horrible experience the only good thing was the short wait time. The reason for such a short wait time is that Stephen only spends about 1 minute with each patient. He gives no advice or recommendations about pain relief and walks out before you can even ask a question.

Would not recommend at all my dad has been having a lot of pain and the doctor didn’t explain to him with detail he spent not even a minute in the room with us talking he did not give him medicine or anything he just sent him to therapy when he cannot resist the pain that’s all the action he took. When he was with us they called him on the phone and he left did my even say that is it any other question he just walked out the room without saying anything and another guy from the desk came in saying that was it how can someone like this be a doctor. He did not even give him medicine or anything we went twice and they haven’t done anything at all and every time my dad went he had to pay 50$ it’s very unfair to pay for that doctor to just touch his back and walk out very rude,unprofessional definetley would not recommend at all. My dad had to pay those 50$ fee for that guy so see him for less than a minute and make no change.
