Dr. Nowysz and her team are welcoming, professional and strive to make sure you're comfortable in the chair. The atmosphere is homey and relaxing. I also really appreciated how she took the time to educate me on what was happening with my teeth. And I actually enjoyed my recent appointment to have two fillings done. No kidding! Good dentist, she re-did some bridge work another dentist had done, helped me correct a bad habit with over-aggressive brushing that was causing damage to gums, and has been my dentist for years now. Highly recommend.

Absolutely the best dentist in Iowa City, the best practice at which I’ve ever been a patient. Steph really knows her patients, and really cares about us as people. Last fall, when my son had a serious after-hours emergency, she opened up her clinic to see us and managed to save his front tooth as a result. Me and my boys have been coming here for over a decade. I love how they stay up to date with technology but still can make it feel like a nice, clean, and welcoming place. My boys loved having their photos updated every year and getting to hang it on their special board. They have never been scared of going to the dentist and actually enjoy getting their teeth cleaned twice a year. They know they have beautiful smiles thanks to Dr. Stephanie and her great hygienists. They have a great location and I’ve never had issues parking in their lot even though they are so close to downtown. I can’t recommend this place enough! I was calling to get an appointment as a new patient. While I was on the phone with Gail, she helped me find a time that worked, however I think she got frustrated after going back and fourth with times.. during the call her coworker asked her a question and she replied to them while still on the phone with me (even with me speaking). After 2-3 sentences later of them conversating, she returned and said “I’m sorry, what did you say?”. I thought it was extremely disrespectful and quite rude. Classic Smiles is a great dental office. Highly recommended!

I love this place. I had a toothache and was from out of town, and they did everything they could to make my visit as easy as possible. Everyone is a delight, the atmosphere is relaxed, the facilities are clean and organized, and they know your name. Definitely recommend to anyone in the Iowa City area.

Friendly staff. Great with young kids!

I love this place! Dr Nowysz works quickly and competently, keeping me informed of what she is doing and my choices in care, while letting me know what she feels is best. I have had no problems whatsoever with the work she has done, although she has had to replace/repair a lot of old dental work by other dentists. Classic Smiles is a great dental office. Dr. Nowysz is knowledgeable, methodical, and willing to educate patients on the hows and whys of what she is doing. I've been here twice for my routine check-up/cleaning. The first time I went, it had been a long time since I'd seen a dentist. They did not shame me for this at all. I didn't have to wait at all in the waiting area to start my cleaning or for Dr. Stephanie to come see me after my cleaning. Everyone is very nice and explained things well. They did not recommend filling a small hole in my enamel on one of my teeth, instead we will watch it carefully; so this dentist does not recommend unnecessary dental work at all. I have all my wisdom teeth and they gave me tips on how to floss them properly to maximize my chances of being able to keep them. I would recommend Classic Smiles to anyone! This is by far the best dentist you will ever find. I've been going to her for years and have always had a wonderful experience. I've had routine work like filings and even some cosmetic work, all of which turned out perfectly. Everyone in the office is so helpful and friendly. Best of all, she's AMAZING with children. My 2 year old loved her. She did everything perfectly and said just the right things to get my kid to cooperate and even have fun! It was incredible to see, I'm still in shock. Looking at all these reviews, most of them are only about how nice and comforting the building and people were. Now, I am all for a nice, cozy, and friendly visit. But I didn't go to the dentist just for that. I got my cleaning done there after not being at a dentist in about a year and a half. That was a little painful, but I knew I was guilty of not flossing enough. I had 2 cavities right next to each other and she put a watch on 2 others. Something opened up right after my cleaning and she was able to fit me in to fix the fillings that day. Not even 2min after she put the numbing gel in, she laid me back and tried to stick me with the Novocaine. She warned me of the pinch and pressure, but then said she missed and would have to redo it. She stuck me again, waited a minute, and tested with the drill to see if I was numb enough. no. 3 more shots of Novocaine later, still felt it. Even after I told her my tongue wasn't even numb, she still tried the drill to see if I could feel it. She ended up putting a temporary filling in and I have to go back. I'm not here to call her rude, or that the building wasn't clean, or that that workers were unfriendly. I'm posting because in my 23 years of going to the dentist, it's never been so painful. As a person, she and her staff are wonderful! But as a dentist, I will not be trusting her with my teeth. I have already made an appointment to go elsewhere. Please ask people you trust for information on where they go to get their teeth done. I would hate for someone else to have a bad experience. They don't take Delta dental insurance or Iowa wellness/Medicare

I went to this dentist in November of 2005. She stated that I had 7 cavities. Note: I NEVER had a cavity up until this point (22 years old at the time). I never even had a tooth ache or pain in my mouth. However, after she filled my first cavity, I ended up having to have a root canal on that tooth (nightmare pain). My mouth was NEVER the same. I didn't recommended Dr. Stephanie Nowysz after my experience NOR do I recommend her now. I wish got a second opinion before having these so called cavities filled. Don't know what that other review is about, who has 4 fillings done and then has them replaced? Very caring and professional staff and dentist.

As always, I received wonderful service. This visit was extra special, however, because Dr. Stephanie donated dental supplies for my international trip! She is such a kind, caring lady and owns a wonderful business.

I've been seeing Dr. Nowysz for 11 years; ever since I moved to Iowa City. She came recommended by my hometown dentist, as they were classmates in dental school. Oddly enough, a few years later, my hometown dentist moved his practice to Iowa City, but I never even thought of switching back! Steph was so much better. Her "chairside manner" is wonderful, she's very friendly and professional, and has never recommended unnecessary work (contrary to the reviews below). I've had fillings, whitening, InvisAlign, even an implant on one of my front teeth, and through all of this, I've always found her dental work to be top quality and reasonably priced. They work with my insurance to make it as affordable as possible, too. Everyone I've ever sent to Classic Smiles has LOVED it (and the list of folks I've referred is really, really long after 11 years!).
