I should’ve believed the reviews…The billing process makes no sense. The billing dept called me and asked me to pay a bill right then on the spot with no information on what the bill was for, before I had even received a paper bill. They do not call you for test results, you have to call them. They have a lab in house where you can get your blood drawn, but they don’t tell you that it cost hundreds of dollars and your insurance does not cover it, even though they are in my network. Dr. Ash was involved in our 2 pregnancies and everything was fine. But as the other reviewers stated Ash is money hungry and it shows. My wife applied for medicaid for the kids and the state ended up adding her to the plan also ok that fine. What isn't ok is when you go to a doctor's appointment and they just cancel you out and don't come back. First of all she didn't even say she had medicaid, we have Mclaren as a primary, office people said they would not charge the visits with the primary only like she asked so she could stay a patient there. You can charge just a primary care provider my wife has worked in a doctors office previously and works at a pharmacy so knows medical billing. Do not go here!!!!! These ladies are so miserable, I feel bad for them. The receptionist and billing are so rude.. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. You ask one question and they act as if you were supposed to know the answer. As a doctor myself, I would be mortified if this were my practice. Avoid at all cost! Dr. Smith

Dr. Ash is EXCELLENT. Always makes you feel comfortable no matter what is going on. She was wonderful with delivering 2 of my boys and also helping through some surgeries. I wouldn’t want anyone else! Staff is always very helpful as well????

I have been a patient of Dr. Ash since I had my first baby, 21 years ago. My youngest is now 19 and I still go to doctor Ash for my yearly exams. There are other OBGYN’s in my area but I drive the hour and a half because I just love Dr. Ash. She is very thorough and takes time with me. Whenever there has been any issues I get a phone call and follow up care right away. I can honestly say I have never had an issue or bad experience with Dr. Ash or her staff I have been a patient of Dr. Ash since I had my first baby, 21 years ago. Dr. Ash has been wonderful. She is very intelligent, takes time to explain and even draws diagrams and pictures so the patient understands. She is compassionate, patient and an excellent listener. I have learned much from her just in the few visits I've had. She waits for me to exit the room and personally speaks with the nurse and myself to schedule next visit, or tests. That is rare and impressive. The staff is very helpful both on the phone and in person. It feels like a family when I'm there. As far as others' comments about the financial end...I cant relate. I received a check in the mail when I overpaid on my copay once. Also received a bill from lab Corp which I shouldn't have and was told not to pay anything and the office would take care of it. The office is impeccably clean, beautiful and even has a very nice play area for children to wait. I would highly recommend Dr. Ash. Dr. Ash has been wonderful. Dr.Ash, Jen & Becca, and the rest of the front desk team/Lab are awesome! I couldn't ask for a better group of ladies to hold my hand & care for me for 9 months for my first child. I will recommend her office over and over. I truly love all of them so much! Dr. Ash has awesome bedside manners and checked on me during my stay at the hospital as well! You do have to pre-pay for the service as it is unknow what insurance will cover, which I was ok with. I did get a refund in the end, but with a few phone calls to her billing department to follow up...but other than that great all and all! Rude staff any time I have talked to them, sent paperwork to my mom's house whom I rarely speak too, didn't call to remind me about an appointment and wouldn't see me after the ER tried to refer me over to them a month later. They truly don't care about your well being or what has been going on in your life.

Constant threats to my pregnant wife about Dr. Ash not performing the service if we don't prepay.....who does that? Childbirth is scary and uncertain enough. Now we're being threatened to pay up 5 months early or risk not having a Doctor? Dr. Ash is incredible, but Gloria has to go. Is this even legal?

They force you to prepay for everything if you’re having a baby, even if you have insurance. They claim they will reimburse you, but they don’t without a fight. I was right on the edge of getting a lawyer to see if what she is doing is even legal. Do not give them your money for services not yet rendered unless you don’t want to get it back. If they don’t like it, go somewhere else. My wife was in tears. Her staff is incredibly rude as well. Dr. Ash hides behind her staff and makes them deal with their insane billing policies. I honestly feel bad for them. It completely disgusted me. After reading the other reviews on here I see that this is a common occurrence. It truly bothers me. Would never recommend this place. Started out great, the nurse was wonderful, met with Dr. once and then was told I had to pay all delivery cost up front. I was never given any results from tests that were done. I had to call and ask about them. Was told they were putting in a referral for a different place to do 18 week ultrasound when I saw the Dr. at 12 weeks, still didn't put referral in at 16 weeks. Then when I tried to transfer to a new Dr. they claim they never received fax from other office to send my records when the request was sent several times. Would never recommend this place. Dr. Ash is not my regular OB, but is in rotation with my doctor for deliveries. She delivered my daughter recently and I had a great experience. She helped me immensely while I was pushing and coached me each step of the way. I think she is wonderful!

Dr. Ash is an amazing doctor and I would not go anywhere else. My whole pregnancy was a breeze through her and my delivery was just the same with my son. Dr Stephanie Ash is an exceptional doctor. She truly cares about her patients. She is straight forward, very knowledgeable and yet caring and tender. I’ve found her to be accommodating and professional. I’ve referred many patients to her and everyone one of them have thanked me and sang her praises. She never ceases to amaze me with her listening ear, knowledgeable answers and heartfelt concern. Dr Ash is an excellent choice for your OB-GYN care!

Dr. Ash and her staff are Awesome! The prepayment plan was really a great idea as it helped us plan for the costs not covered by insurance. Contrary to Jeff's opinion (see previous comment) health care is not free! The portion not used was promptly refunded. Dr. Ash was kind, caring and went above and beyond accommodating me when I had to get in. She took her time to answer every question and I did not feel rushed, as it the case in other offices. My husband and I could not have asked for a better Doctor to handle my care and to see us through pregnancy. Koodles to Dr. Ash!

Its been one year since my c-section with Dr. Ash and two years since my miscarriage and d & c. I couldn't have picked or asked for a better physican. She is super knowledgeable and very caring. All of my encounters with her and her staff have been nothing short of wonderful. I wouldn't go anywhere else. She is truly the best!

Impossible to get an appointment. Was scheduled by a referring practicioner and had to reschedule for 6 weeks later. Two weeks before that apt, rescheduled! Far too busy for new patients and office staff was very very rude.

Terrible! I've been going to this on throughout my pregnancy and can say that I am so disappointed. As things arised in my pregnancy and I felt it was almost impossible for me to work due to this condition, ash was more worried about how I was going to have an income!! This isn't the first time shes made comments about my income either, to top it all off her office was trying to charge me 2,100 more than what I should be paying for my prenatal care! I questioned my insurance about it to make sure that was correct and they called her office and figured things out for me! Thank god. Dr.ash seems to only be worried about the amount of cash she can bring in, I don't even feel comfortable calling her when I have an issue becuase shes so rude. I've thought about switching in my pregnancy but I only have 4 weeks until my due date. Not even excited to deliver with her being my OB due to this! I hate going to appts because instead of reassuring me things will be ok she makes me feel like I'm stupid. Seems to me dr. Ash is only worried about the money, I really hope this helps some women out there When searching for an ob for first pregnancy because I really wish someone would have told me about her poor attitude, I started hearing things after I was already her patient. Dr. Ash is hands-down, one of the best doctors I have ever had. She is thorough, attentive, personable, and professional. Prior to my first child, I had a serious aversion to doctors, but Dr. Ash and her staff eliminated that fear completely. I had nothing but great experiences through her office or at Bay McLaren, where she also did a c-section for me. I honestly cannot say enough good things about her, or her Pine Rd. office staff. I transferred from a midwife practice that I loved after moving to Bay City... I was a little nervous to switch to an MD, and while the experience was certainly different (more tests, less one on one time and not quite as personal), Dr Ash is extremely competent, professional, and courteous. I felt very heard and a full part of my pregnancy, even to making the big c-section decision - I never felt pressured to do something I wasn’t comfortable with and all procedures were well explained. Basically I was treated like an adult woman, which shouldn’t be unusual in the medical profession but unfortunately is. When my daughter was a week overdue with no sign of progression we made the decision to schedule a c-section, which was accomplished quickly, calmly, and expertly. Of my 3 births (1 natural, 1 emergency C and then this scheduled one) it was oddly the most calm. Recovery has gone very well. Staff is small and I always found everyone to be kind and competent. Becca (nurse) is very friendly and reassuring. Office staff is good about returning calls, answering questions, and are friendly. Sometimes you do have a long wait for an appointment, but that’s not unusual for a dr, especially since Dr. Ash delivers all babies at her practice. Dr Ash is very professional. She does not sugar coat anything and keeps it straight forward. She is very critical when it comes to surgeries, medication, depression, etc. I will agree over the years her bed side manners have declined and she is rather snooty at times but I will take her knowledge and professionalism over her attitude any day
