Dr. Srdjan Mirkovic

The best doctor or surgeon I’ve ever had. He preformed a spinal fusion on me 15 years ago and their was not a moments hesitation to go back to him. His demeanor and bedside manor is beyond any surgeon I have encountered and I’ve at at least 10 other surgeries!

My surgery had to be corrected by another surgeon at a different hospital. After my surgery I couldn't stand up straight no matter how much I tried. The surgery was was supposed to be 4 to 5 hours. Instead it took him 7 hours. He only did my lower spine. 2 rods 6 pins. And didn't even get it right. Don't use this surgeon.

I had surgical fusion neck surgery in spring 2016 after having had arm pain for several years. I haven't had any pain since the surgery thanks to this skilled doctor. Dr. Mirkovic explained my options and talked me through the procedure prior to my surgery.

Dr. Mirkovic did an absolutely wonderful job on my lower back. He performed a micro discectomy on my L5-S1. I had a herniated disc which was causing me EXTREME sciatic pain from my buttock down my leg to my toes. It was causing me to walk funny, since I couldn’t push with my right leg. Our initial consult was great, he took the time to explain what my problem was, going through my MRI images with me and highlighting the problem areas. Said that in my case, steroid shots might help temporarily, but I had a pretty severe herniation, and surgery was the only sure fire way to correct the problem. I also ran the risk of permanently damaging the nerve that was affected if not corrected with surgery. After surgery, I had NO PAIN. It was like someone turned off a pain switch. I was able to push down with my leg again immediately after surgery, and walk normally. I’ve been pain free since surgery which was a couple of years ago. My husband had a very delicate spine surgery with Dr. Mirkovic and we can't say enough about how good and skilled he is in his area. We live downtown Chicago but we are happy we came to Skokie for my husband to have this invasive surgery with him. He is not only one of the best for spine surgery but a very caring and compassionate doctor. All my respect to him and my fully recommendation. Saw Dr. Mirkovic for shoulder pain radiating through my arm to my thumb/forefinger. Spot-on diagnosis requiring Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Experienced immediate relief after the procedure! Did my homework and very impressed with his credentials. Best part: excellent bedside manner, never a rushed visit and perhaps MOST IMPORTANT to me (engineer / IT professional), a detailed explanation of what was wrong, what the procedure involved and what I could expect after. I simply cannot say enough good things about his professionalism, care from his team and the staff at Skokie Hospital. HIGHLY recommended!

Dr. Srdjan Mirkovic is very personable and an a wonderful surgeon. He was very concerned about my back pain and explained the treatment plan. He answered all of my questions. I didn't feel rushed. He was well worth driving from north central Indiana to Chicago to see him at North Shore Orthopedics. My back is so much better now. In addition, his staff are also remarkable, caring individuals. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Dr. Mirkovic is wonderful, but Northshore is terrible. I would recommend never using them. They will cancel on you the day before your appointment after being on the calendar for weeks because of poor communication on their end. They then would not reaccomodate you. Dr Mirkovic did an excellent job with my spinal surgery.

Dr. Mirkovic has operated on me successfully several times. He is a very caring person and skilled physician that I would recommend to anyone who is in need of a phenomenally skilled spine physician.

Dr. Mirkovic operated on my 22 year old college baseball player, who herniated 2 discs 19 months ago while swinging a baseball bat. 2 other neurosurgeons kept prescribing therapy and a total of 3 epidurals, never revising their plan when nothing they did helped the pain in the least. Dr. Mirkovic operated within 3 days of seeing him. During surgery he found the herniations to be calcified, and pressing badly on the nerve, so nothing besides surgery would have ever relieved his pain. Waiting now to see if he has permanent nerve damage. Dr. Mirkovic is extremely bright, very personable, and so very caring. He spent 3 hours in surgery trying to fix my son perfectly, after discovering the calcification, instead of the standard 2 hour surgery. I am so very grateful. I met with Dr. Mirkovic in the spring of 2016 and I couldn't have been more pleased. He is thoughtful, considerate and explained my options regarding my back problems. I trusted him to do my surgery and I have not regretted it. He is top notch and conservative which I appreciate since the surgery was on my spine.

Dr. Mirkovic was very patient during my appointment, and took time to answer my numerous questions. He knew how much it was important for me to understand and be comfortable so that I can make an informed decision about whether having this difficult surgery or not, at age of 79. Dr. Mirkovic explained in details that the laminectomy surgery with spinal fusion on four levels, in my case, would be a very complex surgery. The surgery lasted about 6 hours, and thankfully, everything went well. It was unbelievable that I was up and walking the next day. Dr. Mirkovic has given me a better quality of life. I am finally pain free while walking, sitting, and sleeping. I can’t say enough about his skills, and his staff kindness. I would recommend Dr. Mirkovic to anyone who has similar problems, as he has expertise, he has been wonderful and supportive. My daughter, who has neck problems, already scheduled the consultations with him.

I experienced complete recovery after cervical spine surgery with no pain or residual numbness. Dr. Mirkovic is kind and pays close attention to every detail.

Dr. Mirkovic performed a discectomy and spinal fusion on me (neck). He came to me well recommended by other doctors and he was absolutely fantastic, both in personal interactions and in the surgery itself. I have had no complications whatsoever and the surgery was life altering.

He is the best I was diagnosed with a herniated slipped disk and he did my surgery and did a marvelous job you can't even see my scar I had on my neck I would recommend him

Dr. Mirkovic was very nice. Took time to explain my x-ray results and next steps, answering all my questions. The new orthopedic clinic at Glenbrook is staffed with wonderful people who were very nice and made sure I was as comfortable as I could be and answered all my questions. I feel very confident in the care I received and future diagnostics and treatment.

Came highly recommended, feel very confident I would be in good hands, felt a little rushed with his time couldn't ask all the questions I would have liked.
