Dr. Sidney Ariel Schechet

I was impressed by the professionalism of Dr. Schechtet's staff and their pleasant, upbeat attitude. However, I was quite disappointed that the report requested by my cataract surgeon was not sent as promised. I fully expected that the report would have been sent when I called my surgeon's office to confirm it had been received. Had I not checked, my surgeon would have been lacking important information on the day of my surgery. I probably would not make the comment I am about to make had they at least followed up and sent the report. Although the exam I received seemed very thorough, and Schechtet is likely a highly qualified doctor, I was put off by the way he spoke to me when he came into the room. The first question he asked me was "Do you know why you are here?" Perhaps most of his patients have no idea why they are there, but this is the way one speaks to a child. Since I am a senior citizen, it might have been my introduction to "elder speak." I was not amused.

Dr. Schectet and his staff are wonderful. They treat you so kind. I tell everyone if you have any problems with your eyes to call his office they will work you in. He listens when you talk. He is a great doctor. And so are his nurses and his staff. Thank you Dr. Schechet for helping me. You are awesome.

The staff was very friendly and Dr. Schechet was very informative.

He gave me information that other doctors did not. He was able to discover issues that other doctors had missed in the past.

Dr. Schechet was amazing! I unexpectedly needed emergency eye surgery and Dr. Schechet immediately put me at ease. He was extremely through with explaining to me why the surgery was necessary. I felt very comfortable and knew I was in good hands with Dr. Schechet. My only complaint was the long wait time before being seen by Dr. Schechet - my appointment was 2:30pm and I didn’t leave his office until 6:30pm. I later found out that he had several emergency surgeries and that caused delays with seeing his patients and he did apologize for the long wait time. Dr. Schechet is patient, understanding and gentle. More than willing to answer all questions and explain in detail my situation. Always shows me the pictures of my retinas and points out what’s going on. Treats me like an intelligent adult. Treatment decisions are made WITH me and not dictated by him. I had a scan with dye done today and I really did not feel the IV needle at all. Very competent staff. Not surprising because Dr Schechet is an extremely competent retina specialist.
