About Shyam Sundar Swain
Reviews for Shyam Sundar Swain
After having chronic lower back pain for the last 17 years, I saw Dr. Swain with 2 office visits. The first visit was a complete review of my X-rays and MRI. On the second visit I was given 4 injections in my lower back and almost immediately I was pain-free. I have now been pain-free (with no drugs) for the last month. For the first time in 17 years I am totally pain-free and I am amazed at the quick results of my treatment by Dr. Swain. I wish I had seen him many years ago, before I went through a lot of false claims from various spine surgery centers.
Would never go there doesn't know how to process insurance forms we were from out of town and was told to go there they drag there feet never got my husband procedure
This doctor doesn't spend any time with patients. He walked in today, asked how I was doing, I said, "not good". He walked out, five minutes later comes to tell me he refilled the prescription and says I can leave. I was stunned. No discussion about other things to try. Just electronically sends the same meds and hustles me out the door. I'm not interested in a pill pusher. I'm interested in getting help for pain. What he's given me is not helping, but he's not interested in discussing a different treatment option. This doctor doesn't spend any time with patients. I saw Dr. Swain in October of this year from my lower back he gave me a couple of shots they didn’t work so he gave me pain pills and muscle relaxers I just called today the muscle relaxers lasted me all this time but they helped me so I asked if I could get my prescription renewed and she abruptly said no you have to see the doctor now my back is bothering me I can’t get into see him in January the middle of January what kind of practices this does Humana allow this does an issue insurance company allow this is it even legal I know if you don’t see a doctor in a long period of time they won’t renew a prescription but I still have the pain meds I don’t like pain meds I won’t take them but she was very rude and abruptly said you have to see him we will not renew a prescription well Doctor Swain you lost a customer and you have a bad review real bad if anybody wants to question me my email address is on here but one of your patients there is an a little bit of discomfort and how you are
me and my better half like dr. swain and staff. but all this high tech stuff has got to go. we do not have all this technical stuff that is required to talk to the doctor and now we do not know if my better half can be his patient anymore. does not sound fair. it sounds discriminatory to me. 4 different doctors and 4 different kinds of tech to communicate. that is ridiculous. me and my better half like dr. swain and staff. but all this high tech stuff has got to go. we do not have all this technical stuff that is required to talk to the doctor and now we do not know if my better half can be his patient anymore. … More
Been a patient for approx 4yrs. They have worked hard to make my life so much better. I can't believe the change in my life since he started taking care of me. The staff does so much to make it easy. I have never had to worry about my insurance issues.. They take care of everything for you. Love all of them ❤
I have been a patient here for 5 years and i am very happy with all aspects of my experience here . Before the pandemic the wait times were about an hour. The last 10 months i have done my monthly visits thru the telephone which only takes 5 min. I have read other reviews and i dont understand how people can complain Lorraine has always been polite helpful and efficent and Dr Swain is very cooperative. I have asked to switch up my meds a few times over the years and he is always helpful and gives me as much medicine as the law allows for my condition. I would give them a try if you need a pain management doctor but be aware he follows medical guidelines and will not over medicate his patients. He is not a "pill mill" and you have to have a medical reason to get pain meds. I think most of the negative reviews are from people looking to get pain meds in excess of their medical needs. Dr. Swain was good at first when I went 5 yrs ago to him. I had to take a year off of seeing him for reasons I can't say. I had always taken my meds as prescribed. My urine samples ALWAYS came back positive for the pain meds I was taking. NOW he won't take me back and I need to find a new pain Dr now. I don't recommend going to him....
I've been going here for several years. Dr swain could take more time with his patients then he currently does. I had marked other issues on my paper for months and he never asked me once about it. The new nurse is very nice. She doesnt rush you and seems concerned when you speak to her.
Just started treatment here. So far I love the place compared to Dr. Chowdhari at University Pain management in Tampa. Who is rude arrogant and his staff is lazy and nasty too. Dr. Swain's staff is very friendly and thoughtful. I already feel so much better. Was actually able to get some housework done today with my pain being minimal. I had two pleasant visits two days in a row. And the wait time was also good. Compared to it taking 8 to 9 hours of my day for a visit with my old pain management Dr. That I do not recommend anyone going to. Keti Pain management is a very nice place to go to. I had to stop going there due to insurance issues. Read some comments on here. The 1st visit does take long. After that you get in quickly. Mainly because on the 1st visit they have to reverify your insurance since things can change or slip through the cracks like it did with me. Also the Dr. reads your medical records completely he doesn't just skim them. I am currently seeing another Dr. which I do not like. He have me nerve blocks and I am in more pain than ever. Still sore after a week. When Dr. Swain did the nerve block I felt great. Lorraine can test your patience at times. However she is thorough at her job. Have to be patient with her. She is very busy behind that desk. I am telling you I have been to 2 other pain Drs and they were horrible. If your not abusing your meds. Then you won't die or go through withdrawals if they have to stop them for a reason. Dr. Swain is a good Dr and I hope I can get back in his office soon. I didn't have to wait 3 hrs to be seen or not seen. Then kept in pain like my first pain Dr would do. They have new laws they have to follow so be patient. It's worth the wait. The wait time is shorter than any other Dr or primary Dr I have had to see. I was usually out within an hr. That's a blessing compared to other pain centers. I have been in pain management for 3 yrs now. This new Dr doesn't listen like Dr Swain does. In fact he doesn't even talk to me or let me speak when I already know what works for me and what doesn't. He gives me the pain meds I do need. However the other meds I need he is giving me stuff I already tried and didn't help. I really don't get the bad reviews for Keti Medical except for Lorraine's attitude here and there. She is not always grumpy. And if she gets out of line. You can always tell it to the Dr during your visit. I had issues with my primary Dr's staff not doing my referral for Dr. Swain like I thought the girl did. She kept blowing me off. So I had a follow up visit where I took all my documentation with me and showed the Dr. The girl was going to make me wait all day to call my insurance to try and resolve the referral issue. After speaking to the Dr. not only did I get my answer about it. All my new referrals were done before my visit was. This was at my primary. You don't have to take what a receptionist does. Drs don't want to lose patients due to their staff. My insurance pays for my visit, so I don't take stuff at any Drs office. I look at it as I am their customer paying for my services. If they want my business they will do what they need to do. Many Drs offices want to think they can run us like they are doing us a favor. When we have the power to control their income with reviews and filing complaints through our insurance companies. So don't let any Dr or staff walk all over you. Unless they are the only one in your network. When I file my complaints it always against the staff not the Drs if they are good Drs and treat me right. Only Dr Chowdhari in Tampa I had to file a complaint against. He also had a habit of billing for services I never received. Where my insurance company started sending letters to verify appointments and what they billed for. Dr. Swain and Keti medical is great. So if you need a pain Dr you should go here. New Patient appointment was at 9:15, people came in after me and were taken in. At 10:15 i asked receptionist about my appointment and was told just because i had an apppintment doesn't mean I will be see at that time she then advised me she still had to call to verify my insurance, meanwhile I made the apppontment a month before. They were terribly rude and treated me like a drug addict even though I never asked for pain meds. The nurse spent 5 minutes telling me that I had failed a drug test for a drug I have never ever taken. Then the doctor came in and spent 5 minutes looking at his paperwork and talking, but never gave me a chance to talk to him. I would not send my worst enemy to this place. I left in tears, and will never go back! They were terribly rude and treated me like a drug addict even though I never asked for pain meds. They schedule you appointments then take patients first come first serve. When you show up early so that your appointment time is observed, Lorraine yells at you. She schedules from 8:30 am but the doctor doesn't show up until 9 am. Not a friendly atmosphere at all. I do not recommend this office at all.I no longer utilize this office.
Front office scheduler lorraine is mean, moody and vindictive. If you choose to go here and Lorraine is still the front office scheduler. Stay on her good side or she will make your visits hell. She is on a power trip. Dr Swain is ok but doesn't really spend much time with patients. The goal seems to be, see as many patients an hour as possible. This could be an ok practice if they made a change in the front office and he stopped to take a little more time with patients and Perhaps listen to them. The best Doctor who listens
The new laws affecting many people for pain medication young and old, this for some has turned into their own crisis. I would believe a medical doctors position would be to cause no harm. Patients of any age need help dealing with this. You have just refused service to my Mother due to her age of 92. She is still a human at any age and in need of medication to get through her every day pain. You should be ashamed of yourselves, one day you may be that age and living with pain. Karma

I am extremely happy with the care I receive from Dr. Swain. He always takes the time to answer all my health questions. I would recommend family and friends to see him.
Dr. Swain has an excellent bedside manor, I researched many doctors in the area before choosing him. I was getting back injections and he is highly skilled. Him and his staff also took the time from their busy schedules to recommend a surgeon for my Grandmother. I would not trust anyone else.

Dr. Swain treats both myself and my husband. He is a dedicated caring Doctor!
I have been a patient with Dr. Swain for 2 years now and he is a very caring and understanding doctor. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and treats me well. I am very happy with the service he provides me on a monthly basis. I recommend Dr. Swain highly, and his office staff is great. Thank you
I have been going to Dr. Swain for the past 2 1/2 years and he has always been a caring passionate doctor. Granted his office is very busy but, with limited pain management choices in the area he is always willing to take the time and talk with you about any question or concerns you have. He's very knowledgeable with every aspect of questions I throw at him and I thank him for the time he spends with me to explain the answers. I've gone from pain that drops me to the floor to my life back relief
dr vswain is a caring physician
