Not only does he care deeply about his practice, he also lectures extensively to other healthcare providers on how to integrate new technologies and improve patient care. When looking for a physician, look for those that go above and beyond the status quo to consistently further their own education and skill set in order to ultimately improve diagnosis and treatment of patients. Terrible experience... Several years ago while living in Florida I made an appointment to see Dr. Shapiro.. When I entered his office he was on the phone and having a very heated personal conversation with someone... He hung the phone up very abruptly and just looked at me and said "wellll?" I tried explaining my injury but he cut me off.. No explanation or examination... He billed OWCP for tests that he did not perform... I left and never went back.. He was rude and insulting...

Dr. Shapiro has been helping my elderly mother manage the symptoms of advanced arthritis in her knees. My 94 y.o. mother has not always been an easy patient. He has been very kind and accommodating. After talking to many doctors for many years about my very arthritic knee, I finally found someone who could diagnose the problem and more importantly lay out my options and what the disadvantages and advantages of each option was. I really loved that Dr. Shapiro was not trying to sell me any particular option and gave me the lowdown about the risks of each. He has kept up with what is available and what is on the horizon.
