Do not go here if you actually want a neurologist. I had an injury where I was injured by a power line and have nerve damage. I only go to him because my old neurologist retired I am currently looking for a new one. His office and him literally haven't filled my prescription in 2 months when i call they say oh we filled it but then pharmacy says no. Its not the first time this has happened for every month they fill it they. At least miss one month which means I end up not taking or taking less than i am supposed to. I was referred to this place by my foot doctor to get an emg. I booked an appointment and waited weeks for it to finally come and when the time did come, they told me 2 hours before that they don’t have emg equipment so I won’t be getting an emg today. If I didn’t call, they would have waited until I drove to the office to tell me. Now, instead of having an emg appointment with someone else, I have to wait even more to get another appointment. Finally Dr Ubaid opened his own practice near Troy NY. A highly trained doctor who cares and listens to your concerns.

I don't use the word worst often but here I do

This doctor doodled spirals instead of taking notes. Dismissed my concerns. Scheduled me for PT (because he didn’t belive my issues) and when I got to PT they were prepared to do work on my SHOULDER... I had complained about me legs. (I had shoulder surgery in 1996... this is why you pay attention when a patient is talking to you.) He did schedule blood work. But didn’t leave his contact info or any information about me (aside from MY contact info) on the order. My bloodwork came back “alarming”, when this happens the prescribing doctor needs to be made aware. Since they could not get in touch with the doctor, I was contacted at 7:30pm on a Friday evening from the chief of medicine of the lab dept. this is an exact quote “ I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this. Your bloodwork came back with alarming results. There is no info here so I don’t know why the work was done, and I don’t know what condition you are in, but i must tell you, if you feel ill please go to the ER right now.” I was willing to put aside the doodles and the mis-diagnosis about my shoulder. but this was just bad bedside manner and bad business. I’m sure he is a nice man. Despite my complaints I found him Relatively pleasant. He’s just not a good doctor. So in short, please don’t go to this doctor. I have a major test scheduled in a few weeks that I need. After that i am finding a new Neuro doc or even a new practise. p.s. I would give him ZERO stars if that was possible. EDIT p.double s. The office replied today, two years after my original post to say they investigated my claims and found them to be inaccurate. OK, which part. Was it the PT person expecting my shoulder to need work? All I can tell you is this is what they said to me. And they were looking ay my shoulder was it the spiral doodles? I took a picture. Facebook will send me a reminder when it comes back around. You can friend request me and I’ll message you. Was is the doctor who had to call me at 7:30 to tell me me bloodwork was alarming? Believe me, that happened. I wish it hadn’t. That was an evening where I had no idea what was going to happen, if I had suddenly become much sicker. I shouldn’t have had to got through that. The doctor I spoke to at the time was VERY upset. It’s part of why I knew how bad your doctor had messed up. Chief of Medicine for your laboratory/blood work/I don’t know , I don’t work there. You do. I know you spoke to him though. I did get one phone call from the office asking me to talk about this review. I called them back and never heard about it again. I switched over to the OTHER doctor at the office and he was better. They didn’t FIND him for me or help me find him.I told them I wanted a different doctor. Read your other reviews. Btw, I found the office employees very helpful. 5 stars for the office. My dad has seen Dr. Ubaid for a couple years. Dr. Ubaid is alright his office staff is the reason for the low rating. Every appointment it's a game in the past nurse ordered wrong testing, had to chase important test results, only once they did follow through, office does not return calls (even after they call and instruct you to call back) Pre-covid you be forced to walk in the office to get things done in between appointments... I know other patients did the same as I've seen them in the office with the same concerns. Icing on the cake dad has 6 month follow-up to schedule locked cant make appointment wait 3 months called wait on hold excessively to be told Dr Ubaids schedule is still locked and all these special steps need to take place obviously the scheduler is remote and when she said she would need Dr Ubaids office involved and they would have to call I told her we would wait as my dad has many doctors and no longer drives... I would not trust office staff before or after each appointment you have to clean up a mess. So during Covid in the 21st century you cant schedule appointments after September 1st? Since my father has become a patient at this office Ive easily put in 20 to 25 hours of my time helping him deal with this office. I am disappointed hearing that Dr.Ubaid is no longer working there...I found him very good and very thorough...Why did he leave? Noone will say...

Dr. Ubaid has been one of thorough doctors that I have visited.

I have known Dr Ubaid for few years. I am glad he opened his own practice in Troy. Excellent communication.

Dr. Ubaids has the worst medical office staff that is unprofessional. Honestly they don't even pretend to care.

He seemed ok during my one visit. I kept calling to see if the Mra had been scheduled , I was told for a month they were waiting for authorization. I don't need authorization. Finally I was told they couldn't even ask for authorization because the dr had not done his dictation. Also he sent me a script in the mail for a chest xray with no explanation why and never called with the results. I had decided to leave the practice , but I will try one of the other doctors first. Also he said he didn't have test results when this practice is in my network and my two mris and lumbar puncture results were definitely there. My time is so valuable because my life is so full , I do not have time to see doctors that cannot focus. He seemed ok during my one visit. Dr. Ubaid was very thorough. He did write things down during my appt. and even after he saw me he spent a while with my chart looking over my blood work and other testing. He found some things my doctor had overlooked in my blood work and called me back in to speak with him while I was waiting to check out. I thought he was great! His staff was nice, booking an appt was ridiculous but that isn’t him. As a doctor, I appreciate the time he took to review my information and he took my concerns seriously. He has terrible staf i call them today for my sons prescript to send it to a mri schedole departament 3 time and they never did it ,we have been wating from them to schedule that apoiment from 3 months ago and still,we have to change the doctor .bed staff.

He is very difficult to understand. He ordered me an MRI and never reviewed it then proceeded to order me another. He ordered me to take medication and didn’t know why. I’ve been waiting to get a sleep study for over 3 months. The office staff NEVER calls me back. At one point I had to have primary dr reach out to him for answers. Cancelled my next appt. Will not be going back to him. Him and his office staff are useless. No wonder our insurance rates are so high.

As others have commented Dr. Ubaid doctor seems capable (only saw him twice) but the communication system is clearly lacking. Leaving messages does not generate a call back, and I have yet to speak with anyone. I ended up canceling the next appointment for my mother and will find someone else. The assisted-living where my mother is ended up faxing the office TWICE after leaving several messages and only then did she get a return call. I find that to be unacceptable.

Dr. Ubaid has a good bedside manner, and seems to actively listen to me when I discuss issues with him, but his office's scheduling and organization are chaotic at best. Initial appointment took weeks to get scheduled. I've been waiting since July to get a sleep study done, and they keep failing to schedule it for me. They won't take patient calls, meaning you need to leave a phone message and wait a few days for a call back, if they call back. My best luck is via online communication.

The Dr himself is good but staff is horrible. When calling can't get past an automated system. Staff will not call you back if you manage to even find an option that lets you leave a message. I called the day before my appointment to try to reschedule. Unable to reach a human so left a voice message to cancel the appointment and request reschedule call back. No call back but a couple of days later I received a letter saying that I "missed my appointment". The staff is useless.

Dr. Ubaid is one of the best doctors that I ever met, he is a kind, respectful and extremely knowledgeable Physician, he spend whatever time listening to his patient, his diagnosis always accurate and give you the best way of treatment, If you are looking for a truly outstanding Neurologist, I recommend Dr. Ubaid Shaikh.

Arrogant, doesn't listen carefully, didn't review or have all medical records before appointment, (knowing I was there for a specific reason from a referral) therefore wasting my money and time. Opinionated regarding other medical issues that I was not there for (even though I am seeing a doctor for them). Although I had filled out questionnaire, asked same questions as though he didn't read the questionnaire. Very abrupt and unfriendly!
