Dr. Quyyumi has been my doctor for over 10 years. A doctor is only as good as his office staff and his office is a nightmare. I have been left without insulin and pain medication because it is impossible to get meds filled in a timely manner. I also feel as if I am my own doctor. There is very little communication when I do come in for my 3 month visit. They have only answering machines to leave messages that are rarely returned. Nobody answers a phone unless you select an emergency line. Then they treat you like you are crazy because you are left begging for my meds. I do not recommend getting involved with this practice! It is the most stressful and infuriating experience I have ever experienced with a doctors office. I am starting with a new doctor next month.

My husband is a diabetic and he has been going there for years and I keep telling him to change doctors. I go to all my husbands appointment and the visit to Dr Quyyumi was by far the worst. I asked Dr Quyyumi what can we do to get his A1C down. He said it would be hard but keep trying, then Dr Quyyumi STATED, “he is going to die from something”. I said what!!! Appointment over !

Dr. Quyyumi is great, the only issue I had was the nursing assistant who told me that sunscreen is from China and they used that to block our vitamin D 40 years ago so they could send over this deadly virus because now our immune systems are weakened so THEY could hurt us. Not for nothing, but conspiracy theories have no place in a medical office. I wish I knew her name so I could put it up here. I wish zero stars were an option. This man should not be practicing medicine. When I had switched my medical insurance my regular endocrinologist was out of network so I was referred to him. I told him I had Addison’s disease and had been diagnosed over 10 years earlier. I gave him documentation to confirm the diagnosis and the information for my previous Dr just in case it was necessary. They never contacted her, and he said that the documentation does not support the diagnosis. He took me off all medication even though I begged him not to. I ended up 3 weeks later in adrenal crisis admitted in the hospital after passing out and breaking my ankle because my blood pressure dropped due to having no cortisol in my blood. He is extremely condescending and rude. He acted like he was more qualified to say what I was feeling than me. Anything I said or felt was irrelevant because he was the Dr. I changed my insurance just to never have to see him again.

He’s the best doctor I had since I am in NY. Thanks to him I got the pump and my T1D dropped from 12 to 7.1 He was following me over the phone with all his team. When I went out of insulin he gave me insulin! A very human doctor and very good team!! We need more doctors like him please! He’s the best doctor I had since I am in NY. I had a fine 1st visit. It went well, but my follow up was a nightmare. Per the doctor's instructions at my initial visit I did NOT schedule a 6month follow up, I called to check in and waited to make my follow up for when my RX was due to be renewed. When that happened I called for an appointment, scheduled the follow up with the clerk asked if I needed anything to bring with me. She said no. When I showed up for my follow-up appointment (for a refill on my RX) I was ignored at the check-in counter for a solid amount of time, then told I couldn't be seen without a written referral, when I got my referring doctor on the phone the office refused to speak to him, because he isn't a PCP. What really made it all a true nightmare was when I got my insurance on the phone and THEY told the office I didn't need a new referral or visit for the refill, but the office insisted I did. Making patients with chronic illness jump through hoops to get refills on medication is a problem. I didn't mind the doctor but his office staff were a NIGHTMARE. They never answer the phone, you go through a variety of automated menus and still have to leave a message. Not worth the effort. If this is my only option for an Endo on Staten island I think I'll be going off island for care I had a fine 1st visit. It went well, but my follow up was a nightmare. I've been seeing Dr. Quyyumi for more than ten years now for endocrinology. I've always found him to be a patient, thoughtful and caring physician. He thinks often before speaking and/or answering questions. I appreciate that. He does not have an ego "the size of Texas", as many physicians have. He is a very smart man/Dr. - and has a reputation for being so. His assistant, Karen is simply a gem! She has helped Dr. Quyyumi help me in countless ways - countless times. I would highly recommend him and his staff. He writes out my instructions for me in easy to understand terms so I won't forget - which is truly a blessing. I hope this review helps you make a wise decision to see him - should you need an endocrinologist. Bob Segarra I've been seeing Dr. Quyyumi for more than ten years now for endocrinology. If I could give this guy no stars I would. I hardly ever write any reviews but this guy was beyond rude. Condescending, hardly seemed to pay attention when talked to. He had zero manners, and it wasn't like he was a straight shooter! This doctor seemed all over the place when it came to my treatment. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The staff and the office were both pleasant. The doctor seemed a bit condescending and didn't really seem to have a good grasp on what the problem was but otherwise spent a decent amount of time asking questions about the issue.

Doctor Shahed Quyyumi MD, is the WORST endocrinologist that I have ever experienced, I have so many reasons why but I will not waste anymore time explaining in detail, simply find another Doctor or learn the hard way, the choice is yours. P.S. Doctor Shahed Quyyumi MD, has a great staff of professional people who work for him, but Doctor Shahed Quyyumi himself Lacks Passion for his Profession & is Not up-to-date with Current Breakthroughs in his field of study.

He is a worthless endo. He accused me of exaggerating my symptoms despite seeing my lab tests that clearly documented an extremely high tsh, elevated liver enzymes, ckd & heart disease. He also mocked the Armour meds my pcp prescribed to me, even though it lowered my tsh from 205 to 118 in 30 days. He insisted I take Synthroid which I refused. He also said my complaints of syncope & chronic fatigue were a made up American thing. Don't waste your time with this guy.
