Sean V Mcgarry

Dr. Sean McGarry took over a week to read my original results from surgery with the diagnosis of LeiomyoSarcoma. Then it took more time to get an appointment. Dr. McGarry did not have a good bedside manner and when I asked him how fast does this cancer spread, his answer was “is it low grade or high grade?” I said high grade. His reply was “well, it will move faster than low grade”. What kind of answer is that? My appointment was on January 12th, CT ordered for January 24th. He refused to get a PET Scan or abdominal CT, He said those tests have nothing to do with what I have going on. As of January 29th he has not given me a phone call to discuss the results. I feel I am not a priority to him or his office. I advise to look elsewhere if you have a Sarcoma, you may waist too much time waiting on him.

Communication regarding pre-op and post-op care was Very Poor. A benign tumor was removed from granddaughter's femur. Dr, McGarry said she would be fine and no crutches would be needed. After 2 plus hours of surgery and a bone graft-she was in severe pain and on crutches for 6 weeks. She is a Sr. Nursing student trying to do Clinicals. Conversation about what to expect would have helped a lot. 4 weeks later she developed an infection in the incision and cellulitis around the incision. A call to the office nurse on Friday and a picture sent was met with---You may have to come in Monday. Anyone seeing this horrible looking incision should have known she needed an antibiotic immediately. Very lucky this didn't turn into something awful.

Drove 2 hours, waited close to 45 minutes in the room, examined by a resident, then got to see the specialist finally for about 3-4 whole minutes. Very poor bedside manner, unfriendly, cocky, didn't examine me just asked how it all started. All I can say is I hope he was right when he said it's benign with just looking at the MRI. No explanation given as to how he came to that conclusion but I was quickly rushed out. I could have have a virtual visit and saved myself the drive and being alone because of course they won't let your spouse in.

Those 2 very odd and I am scared because I just can't go back there- Weird vibe- they are rude and reluctant to answer questions. Awful experience- have seen him 3 times. Same each time. Another Doctor suggested I have a cocktail before going again and the vist may be more palatable.

Dr. McGarry and RN Kirby both have poor bedside manners. Long waits, normally hours past my original appointment time. Dr. McGarry does not like patients asking questions and seeking alternative treatments to his first suggestion. As an informed patient, I like to explore all of my treatment options starting with the least invasive before jumping into surgery. Appointment was very rushed, Dr. McGarry and his nurse Kirby are in the room for less than 3 minutes each visit. This has been a constant problems for years, but unfortunately he is the only orthopedic oncologist in the area. That provides him with many benefits including poor patient care and leaves the patients suffering. Dr McGarry seems to not enjoy seeing patients. He is very knowledgeable and would most likely excel in a research position that does not work directly with patients.

Dr McGarry's assistant is unfriendly and is slow to respond and lies. Dr McGarry stated he would do several things during the surgery which he did not do at all or did something different. The surgical report did not match actual. Dr McGarry's office said they had sent MRI results to the out of state medical team to provide instruction as to what they wanted in the biopsy. No MRI was sent. Dr McGarry said he would consult with the medical team waiting for the results of the biopsy before conducting the biopsy but the medical team said they were never contacted. Dr McGarry's word cannot be trusted.

I had surgery done by dr mcgarry he did it at the university towers of nebraska medical center

After only 2 visits, Dr.McGarry and his associate Kirby was able to diagnose me. I have seen numerous doctors over the last 11 years and it's because of his professionalism, expertise and gathering of knowledge that he was able to do this. I believe the one time I waited long in the office it was because he was gathering additional info.

Dr. McGarry is a true professional in every sense. He knows my case inside and out, and I trust his judgement implicitly.
