About Dr. Sean C Gilbey
Reviews for Dr. Sean C Gilbey
Feb 2021 I went here and had some breathing tests. The machines seemed dirty... I was concerned because I had to put my mouth on it and breathe in and out. I asked the lady if they clean it in between patients.. common sense is that you would... she said yes... but I never saw her change the plastic on it.. it seemed gross. A week later, I got covid. Hmmm... and I didn't go anywhere else except this office. I also found Dr. Gilbey to be cold and checked out. Will not be returning.
I went to Dr Gilbey for like 7 years. I had a spot on my lung and he said he would just keep an eye on it. He said after 5 years and no changes I don't have to worry about it anymore. Thank heaven for my primary dr. He did a ct scan and said the spot is growing. I went back to Gilbey and he then did a biophy after checking on it awhile. Well the biophy showed cancer. He also didn't do anything for my copd like he should I went to Dr Gilbey for like 7 years. I had a spot on my lung and he said he would just keep an eye on it. Dr. Sean Gilbey treated my respiratory issues for several years, so it was only fitting that he was the one to treat me when my issues became terminal. He has a great bedside manner, is a good listener and explains things well, even when the news is hard to hear.
I found I can do my whole review here on GoogIe, so here goes. I just moved from Florida to Texas in the fall of 2020. I had a very good pulmonologist in Florida. Originally from Minnesota. I was diagnosed with COPD about 15 years ago and already had moderately severe emphysema at that time 15 years ago. I had quit smoking about 25 years ago. It has now progressed over that time to stage 4, end stage. It is a struggle every day. I also have Alpha-1. When I arrived in Texas I began a search for a highly rated Lung Doctor and I selected Dr. Sean Gilbey based on his online reviews which were good and his proximitry to me. I made my first appointment. Then I got a call from their service I that I needed to reschedule the first appointment. So I called back left a message to call me back. No one ever did! I called them a second time left a message and no response again. Then 2-3 days before the appointment I got an email confirming my reservation. So I assumed maybe they was no longer a need to change the appointment. Well I went to the appointment and was informed the doctor was not in and they called and told me the appointment was canceled. I let it slide but did point out the scheduling issues with Gilbey. Did they ever fix it? I was struggling so in April, 2021 I went in an saw Dr. Gilbey’s PA. They got me set up with a portable Inogen Oxygen concentrator. Then I went to see Gilbey about 3 weeks later. During that appointment I explained that I saw very little benefit with the Inogen. I really didn’t know how to use it. And still don’t believe I got any insight or understanding of how to use the Inogen and was not provided any guidance except set to 2 and use 24/7. It didn’t all of a sudden make me feel good. It was in my opinion a little help but very little. Also Gilbey had me on Trelogy a three drug disk inhaler. During my visit I also questioned Dr Gilbey about Trelogy because with Alpha 1 which I have attacks particulates that get in the lungs damaging the lungs. All these inhaled drugs are powders. His answer was “it knows it’s medicine so it won’t attack my lungs”, seriously. So during this visit, Gilbey gave me only two choices go to therapy or a hospice. He also made a comment about my high blood pressure. They had gotten a reading of 162/92 at this visit. So he made some comment about my blood high pressure and I pointed out that was an abnormal reading for me. I am normally and consistently about 120/75. Like clock work. He checked previous reading and confirmed my BP. Why was this? I think they took my BP too quickly after bringing me to the examination room and didn’t give a me a chance to stabilize. I was out of breath and struggling when they did that. I don’t think this is SOP. Is Gilbey a good doctor, maybe. Was my experience good, no and I won't go back. After all this I must say I was disappointed with and have decided not to return to Dr. Gilbey.

My wife and I visited Dr. Gilbey’s office today for the first time. If you are looking for someone who is professional, thorough and has terrific interpersonal/communication skills this is the guy to go to. We highly recommend him. We also appreciate the fact that our personal physician recommended him to us. He explained everything to us in a manner which could be understood by the lay person. We trust his opinion and are thankful to have him as a physician. My wife and I visited Dr. Gilbey’s office today for the first time. Always thoughough. Always professional. Always friendly. Can't say enough good things about Sean Gilbey and his team. You're in very safe hands.
I met Dr Gilbey for the first time today. I was impressed with his bed side manner, his patience with my questions, and thoroughness of his explanations. I also appreciate the kindness and proactivity of Dr Gilbey’s staff. I would definitely and highly recommend.
My husband was in the hospital with breathing issues and our cardiologist asked Dr. Gilbey to visit him to determine the cause. We were very pleased with the expertise and efficiency with which Dr. Gilbey quickly diagnosed it as double viral pneumonia. He was very encouraging, yet up front and honest about the time it would take for recovery and the steps we would have to take. We felt blessed by his visit and follow up contact we had with him.
