About Scott A Steinmetz
Reviews for Scott A Steinmetz
In 2013 this man saved my life in an extremely urgent, emergency situation. Whenever I see a new doctor and I have to give them a medical background, I tell them Dr. Steinmetz at Upper Chesapeake saved my life with an emergency Meckel’s diverticulum surgery. I think about this human a lot. Absolutely perfect surgery with a massive scar that I love to look at every day. Thank you Dr. Steinmetz. I’m including a pic of my son he gave me the gift of raising.

Dr Steinmetz is the best! Extremely helpful with any questions, bedside manor is very relaxing and his surgery skills are fantastic. He and his staff treat you as family, not a number.
I was referred to Dr Steinmetz by my gastroenterologist for my surgery. My experience with Dr Steinmetz and his staff was excellent. My surgery and recovery went perfectly. My procedure was a bowel resection and I would recommend anyone who needs this type of surgery to go see Dr Steinmetz. He is the best!
He knows what to do, and how. Terrific person and personality.
Great waiting area. Outstanding surgeon.
Great guy. Good bedside manner. Thorough explanations and good follow up...
Could not have had a better surgeon to operate on me. Fantastic experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Steinmetz.
Dr. Steinmetz loved him he saved my husband life My husband had stage 4 colon cancer he was the only dr would operate on him no one thought Carl will go home alive Carl passed away a year later thank you dr steinmetz for giving me one more year with Carl Linda Hamilton
Great experience on both occasions having surgery with Dr. Steinmetz. Informative, efficient, cordial. Highly recommended.
Dr. Steinmetz made a visit to my hospital room to do a consult about a possible I&D on a small abscess. He was there for about 2 minutes and decided against surgery. The abscess remained and it took much longer to heal and was very painful. He charged me $300 for the 2 minute consult. He was paid by Blue Cross and Blue Shield for the agreed rate. He declined their check when it arrived and sent my account to collections. His staff was dismissive and unwilling to work with me. The bill was sent to collections within two months of me getting out of the hospital. Dr. Steinmetz made a visit to my hospital room to do a consult about a possible I&D on a small abscess. Excellent experience with Dr. Steinmetz!
Absolutely love Dr. Fraiji and Dr. Steinmetz. Such an amazing surgical team who helped me such through a rough and scary time in my life. It was a true pleasure having them both as my surgeons and I would return in a heartbeat if I ever need anything else done. They basically saved my life - if it wasn't for them I could of had a rupture of my colon the next diverticulitis attack I had but they prevented that from happening. Would not recommend Dr Steinmetz. Everything is a joke to him, he’s very unprofessional, and was rude to his own staff.
We would never recommend Dr. Steinmetz to anyone. We had a very poor experience with him. He did not repair my husbands very prominent hernia. Made an incision, corrected nothing. Went to Dr. Jeffrey Ferris at Franklin Square. After 3 hour surgery the hernia was repaired correctly. If we had reviewed his record up front, would not have used him at all.
Very good experience.staff very nice and professional.he did a surgery on me and his sense of humor changed the whole atmosphere from being nervous and tense to a relaxed situation.very good surgeon.

I had emergency Gallbladder Surgery, Dr. Steinmetz was great!
I could not have had a better surgeon. He is efficient, professional, thorough, and has a great sense of humor which is much needed during a surgical experience. I would recommend him to anyone.
I'd give no stars, zero. Everything is a joke to him. A woman needing breast surgery isn't a laughing matter. In doctor/patient conversations he constantly interrupts, gets very excitable and as another commenter said he's condescending and dismissive. My advice is to leave him to his God complex and seek another doctor.

Dr Steinmetz performed hernia surgery for my husband. From the first time we met with Dr. Steinmetz and through the surgery and recovery, he was there explaining everything we needed to know and answered all our questions. He has a great bedside manor and is funny and knowledgeable! A friend had a gall bladder removal by Dr. Steinmetz a couple years ago, and she would recommend him. Very pleasant experience!
If you are looking for a doctor to do what needs to be done then I guess he is it. If you are looking for a doctor to take his time with you and help you understand what is wrong, then he is not the doctor for you. He is very condescending. Made fun of the fact that I had to go to the ER twice before having my surgery with him. Two weeks after surgery and still having discomfort he pretty much told me to go see another doctor.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Steinmetz. In May I needed emergency surgery due to a perforated colon, resulting in a colostomy. He saved my life. In August he performed a reversal, that has been about six weeks ago, and everything is going GREAT. I was released from his care yesterday and pretty much back to total normalcy. I have total trust and confidence in Dr. Steinmetz, and highly recommend him. He has a wonderful beside manner and a good repor with his hospital staff.

He has been taking care of my Mom since he performed surgery on 10 August. Dr. Steinmetz expertise and professionalism carries over joining his personal and caring bed side ethics. He is a modern day doctor with old school ~ caring ideals; direct and open to any questions/concerns ~ just ask. I thank him and as he said to me (Mom still in ICU and it is now 17 Aug) "You only get one Mom and if you don't get your answers then call me and I will get them for you".

He is a great patient advocate
Dr. Steinmetz was patient, confident, and did a fantastic job on my husband's bowel resection. He was very patient answering questions and made us both feel at ease. He was funny and light, but took my husband's pain and condition very seriously. We were very lucky that he was on call when my husband needed surgery.
