I feel so lucky to have gotten Dr Russo as my surgeon. My cervical disc herniation was discovered after an inpatient admission from the ER due to arm numbness and monocular double vision. While my situation didn’t allow me the chance to research and select my own surgeon, I knew I was in good hands right away. I had many staff members unsolicitedly tell me what a fantastic surgeon he is, and that he had performed surgeries on them or close family members. Almost 10 months post op, I am living a life free of neck pain and headaches. I had gotten so used to it over years of suffering that I couldn’t imagine my life like it is now. I used to have 3-5 headaches a week, and now I only get a couple a month (if that). I used to toss and turn, unable to sleep from neck pain and getting into a comfortable position. Now I have much more restful sleep. Dr. Russo changed my life, and I am forever grateful!

So far I have met 3 different doctors at OAM and all of them have been very thorough - listen to me - talk over what should or shouldn’t be done for procedure and very professional!

Dr. Russo reviewed my history, symptom and radiology reports. He shared those detailed photos with me and explained I would not need surgery or injections. I will continue with my diet and add in more exercise. Dr. Russo was very thorough and I greatly appreciated his candor and honesty about what I can do and what was not necessary. A great physician!! Thank you, Dr. Russo!

Appointment, was on time. Dr Scott Russo, was through, very good at explanation, and good at listening. Great very happy after the visit, his staff is friendly and very helpful.

Very knowledgeable spine surgeon that has a great bedside manner and concern for patient's overall health and recovery. Went for 12 weeks post surgery checkup. All staff were very efficient and no wait times. Dr Russo was prompt and spent plenty of time explaining and answering questions. I would recommend OAM for any orthopedic needs.

Doctor Scott Russo is very knowledgeable with back conditions! I have a serious case of spinal stenosis and have repairs needed on L2- S1 as far as repairs go! After discussing what he could do to improve my back I will be having him do a surgery to repair my spine!

Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan has been very helpful before and after my surgery. I am very pleased with the outcome. I had an extensive curvature of the spine that caused lots of pain. The surgery helped straighten my back. The majority of pain has dissipated (with a bonus of walking straight and not all bent over). My back continues to improve every day. I am very thankful for Dr Scott Russo and staff who worked alongside him during my care to make this happen.

I was greeted by the front desk and seated for 4 min. before taken back to a room where I waited a few minutes for Dr Scott Russo to see me. I was pleased with my visit and have a telephone appointment with him in a week to go over my MRI results.

I was seen by Dr. Scott Russo for my first Orthopedic visit ever, this month. He was accompanied by an intern Michael. We reviewed my MRI and X-rays for better understanding of my condition. A very educational thorough and detailed explanation was provided and included my current lifestyle and occupation demands as a bedside nurse. My husband accompanied me a said “ he’s motivated to be the best physician he can be.” We will both have to give him a five star rating. Thanks Dr. Russo.

Dr Russo explains and shows your xrays and scans. Gives options honestly. Very prompt and personally calls to discuss concerning results and quickly contacts specialists if needed.

Dr russo always has been a very gracious and caring when ever I've seen him I would recommend him to anyone dealing with the difficulties of spine issues especially in regards to scoliosis treatment.

Scott is one of a kind. And I say that because, he truly cares about his parents. His bed side manners are great. As well a great sense of humor. Just talk with him as a person, you will understand.

Thank God we were referred to Dr Scott Russo. My husband suffers severe scoliosis and spent 6 months in intense pain. Dr Russo performed a miracle surgery and he is now 99 percent pain free. Very professional and thorough.

Dr. Scott Russo is an excellent surgeon. I had 6 fused vertebrae and the pain I miserably dealt with for years is gone. He makes you feel like a real person, not a number.

I felt like my consultation was just what I needed! I did have to wait 2 months to get in to see Dr Russo but after out consultation, I feel like I can trust this doctor and will continue to see him. I’m looking forward to the next steps that I have to take to fix my spinal stenosis, herniated disk, and possibly needing a hip replacement!

Dr. Russo thoroughly explained my condition and my options for treatments. He took the time needed to discuss all my concerns.

My only issue is the doctor talked continuously leaving me no time to ask questions or get more information. Friendly but quick like he already had an agenda and didn’t need to hear my story. I left with many unanswered questions and the visit couldn’t have been more than ten minutes.

Dr. Russo gave me my life back! Before surgery I had a tremendous amount of pain and my physical activities were very limited. After two years, I have been able to resume my life. I now walk, hike and snowshoe every day. Just to let everyone in on my little secret, I have always called Dr. Russo “my hero”! Thank you Dr.Russo!

Dr. Scott Russo took care of our daughter over many years. When another less experienced specialist had recommended surgery, Dr. Russo indicated otherwise and thoroughly explained why she was not a candidate. He opted for other measures to take care of the issue. He did what was best for her, opting for her long term well being vs. surgery that surely would have made him much more money. She is a young adult now; living a quality, active life style that includes her favorite outdoor hunting, fishing activities. Thank you Dr. Russo and your friendly team. Dr Russo is a superb surgeon. He did a big spine surgery on me in early August which involved fusing my entire lumbar spine and correcting degenerative scoliosis. I dreaded the surgery and hospital stay, but am so glad I finally went through with it. I am a walker/hiker and my pain was so bad that I was living on the couch.

Dr. Russo was very caring and considerate during my office visit. This was my first visit with him, and he took time to get to know me before beginning my exam. He was very thorough and answered all my questions in terms I could understand. I would definitely recommend him for orthopedic problems.

The guy is a fraud!!! Told me one thing and told me a list of things I could not do then went and told Workman comp something totally different. I guess money can buy anyone when there not for you

They got me in right away. Also, I was surprised and relieved that he didn't push surgery as that is his specialty. He suggested physical therapy which I start next week.

This doctor is a Spine Deformity Specialist Surgeon. He is VERY direct in his thoughts/opinions which can come across as being offensive or as I have heard "egotistical". HOWEVER... That is NOT how I see him at all! He is the FIRST and ONLY Surgeon I have ever met (I've had numerous neck and back fusions) who cares about you as a "whole person" and not just some random patient. He wants to know how you think about things, what your concerns are, what type of nutrition you put into your body on a regular basis, do you have a gym membership or do you exercise on your own and how you handle pain. These are just a few examples of what he is GENUINELY interested in. He talks about "Mindfulness" and how deep breathing and Behavioral Counseling can help you in post-surgery recovery. He offers his own line of supplements to help prep your body for surgery and then help your body recover faster. You don't have to buy them (he was low pressure sales regarding his vitaminl line). I found him to be simply AMAZING in so many ways. He is definitely someone you should go see if you want honest, upfront advice and demonstrates great talent in what he does!! Dr Russo is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Dr. I wasn't even able to walk into surgery on my own, but I sure did walk out ALL NY MYSELF, and with NO PAIN!!! Dr. Scott Russo performed a major lower and mid back surgery in me 3 months ago. Prior to the surgery I could barely walk because of back and leg pain. I have not walked more than a few steps at a time without pain for the last 3 years. I’m now walking over a mile a day with no leg pain and minimal lower back pain. The back pain is because of weak muscles which will become stronger during PT. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with Dr. Russo. He gave me excellent advice to prepare for surgery and excellent direction after the surgery. I would highly recommend him for this process. As a new referral, the staff made me feel very at ease and comfortable. I was nervous at first but that soon disappeared! Dr. Russo was informative and had an excellent, personable manner! He made a referral even before I left the office! I will have no hesitation in returning to his office for further appointments if needed.

Dr Russo operated on my lower back about 5 or 6 years ago. Nothing but highest praise! When I started having some cervical related pain my PCP ordered an MRI which Dr Russo received. My visit was to the point, very informative and caring. Truly best of the best! Recommend him without reservations.

Recently had a follow up visit with Dr. Scott Russo. He was very concerned with my welfare and overall progress since spinal surgery about 2 years ago. He asks the right questions and carefully answers any questions that you might have. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Russo to anyone who might be having difficulty with their spine.

Dr Scott Russo takes his time with you, gets to know your body and what is wrong by any test necessary and has made extra visits with me in his office when I was scared or needed encouragement! I go into a complex lumbar/thoracic surgery soon with Dr Russo at the helm! I wouldn't go under the knife if I didn't have ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE in his ability to help me walk upright again. How can I say anything higher about a surgeon than that??

Rude, judgmental and unkind. Ladies if you are not a size 10 lookout. You will be treated with disrespect and in a dismissive manner. Came for a second opinion regarding back surgery and got nothing of the kind. Was told I was out of shape and did not eat nutritiously and should get a membership at Planet Fitness. Now mind you I cannot currently even walk around the house with my current back issues. Dr. Russo knew nothing about me and judged me because I am a plus size woman. I had my annual physical the next day and everything was excellent. Blood pressure of 106/61. Blood work was all great. What an absolutely horrible experience. Would never recommend this doctor to anyone. The staff and nurses at OAM however were absolutely wonderful and kind and supportive!

Dr. Russo has compassion for his patients along with good communication which is imperative for a surgeon-patient relationship.

Great experience. Listens. Explains clearly and completely. Surgery scheduled timely. Results exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!
