Dr.Gettinger was very compassionate and empathetic!My mother was forever, grateful for his expertise and knowledge concerning her lung cancer diagnosis! He has all the qualities that it oncologist should possess! The Gerard family will always be grateful for knowing a wonderful physician like yourself!
Dr Gettinger is a compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely competent physician. He takes whatever time is needed to explain the treatment needed, in detail, answers all questions completely and helps the patient join in the decision about their treatment. He assists with second opinions in a very positive way. I feel very well cared for and relieved that he is my oncologist.

not at all compassionate. my mother had advanced lung cancer by the time of her diagnosis. Dr Gettinger told my mom and the entire family it was hopeless and she had approx 6 weeks to live He admitted her and then essentially ignored her for days, not ever rounding on her like she was a waste of his time. Only when we called the department of Oncology to have another attending physician assigned to her case did he stop by shocked as to why we wanted him replaced.
