He's very judgy. He doesn't listen well and is not a good communicator. He doesn't check or respond to his emails in a timely manner. He doesn't have a lot of expertise and discounts the information I've presented him with when I've done my research. I'm definitely not impressed. Compared to my former nurse practitioner, he's a complete disappointment.

Oddly, Dr. Balson repeatedly explained that people should not move to Northwest Washington until they have researched medical care options. He carefully, but persistently pushed me to seek a Rheumatologist in a place like Portland or Spokane. In fact, he suggested I move there. I’m switching to another doctor.

Extremely interested in my issue and the appointment was very thorough. Provided documentation on my illness and helped build a strategy to improve.

I waited several weeks for a "consultation". MultiCare billed me for a 40 minute visit; I was there for 20. I paid the amount due and they lost my payment even though it was cleared through my HSA account. MC called me multiple times and each time I explained it was paid. They threatened me with collection. I spend hours with them on the phone repeating my story and then finally provided copies of the checks. In the meantime they continued to bill me. I called multiple times (Multi-calls, Multi hours, Multi stress) and finally the balance was zero. They informed me that they do not send a zero balance statement. This was such a hassle over many weeks. No notification, no apology, nothing. Never again Multicare! Horrible billing practices and bookkeeping. I waited several weeks for a "consultation". Dr. Balson is kind, professional and knowledgeable about current medical standards and treatment strategies.

I've been a patient of Dr. Balson's for about four years. I'm always impressed at how prepared he is for my appointments, and that he even comes with a list of things he knows he'd like to cover with me. The appointments never feel rushed, he is good at explaining treatments, and he refers to specialists when needed. I'm glad he's my physician, and highly recommend him!

Dr. Balson listened to my problems, and took seriously what I was telling him. I found that very refreshing. He facilitated me seeing the doctors I needed to to get the care I need. Beyond that he has also gotten to know me and my preferences for care. He and his staff are welcoming, positive and efficient. Thank you

He never looked at me, just looked at his computer and typed. He seemed uninterested in anything that wasn't on his script. He commented on my body in an unexpected way. A bit preachy and ordinary.
