He’s not one to tell you what you WANT to hear, but he tells you facts, even if they are hard to hear. Amazingly smart, got my son out of 100s of seizures per day. We love Dr. Taravath.

I strongly suggest anyone with a child to not see him. Go to Duke, Chapel Hill, get a second opinion. He should not be seeing patients anymore. Not only is he rude, he does not care or have any compassion for his patients. He gave my extremely sick child minimal time or care. He was going to let my Baby die. My baby was suffering 100’s of seizures a day and he did nothing. He made me feel Ike I was crazy. He did not change medications, did not order EEG, did not want to inquire about any other treatments, did not seem to care. Told me this was our life. My son almost died in his care. He left Wilmington and did not inform any patients he was moving to Charlotte. He left us all without care or referrals. Within a month of seeing a new QUALIFIED, enthusiastic, doctor in Chapel Hill my son has been seizure free. He explained to me the 3 types of seizures he was having, what to look out for, ordered an EEG every other week to monitor all the new medications he was on. Do not see this doctor. My extremely sick son was in his care for 6 months. He did not show any concern for his 100+ seizures a day. Did not order an EEG, barely increased his medications, did not show any interest in trying anything to try and get them controlled. He was going to let him die. He left Wilmington and moved to Charlotte without informing any patients. We were left without a neurologist. Within one month of seeing a new doctor in chapel hill my sons has been seizure free ever since. Taravath is 100% unprofessional and negligent. I worry about any patients in his care especially if your child is a special or rare case.

We have seen Dr. Taravath multiple times. Every time this man is so incredibly rude. He has no bedside manners. He interrupts you mid sentence and talks to you like you are uneducated. He doesn’t speak with my daughter, he doesn’t ask how she’s feeling, what her pain is like, he doesn’t do any type of exam. In the 5 plus appts we’ve had with him. He’s done one exam to look at her muscles. He’s ordered testing and lab work, and that’s all he cares about is what those test say. If you have questions about said test he answers you like your an idiot. He doesn’t care to listen to the child or the parent. He’s demeaning in the way he communicates, makes you feel like your taking up his time, he interrupts. Hes so rude. During this last visit I asked him to refer us to Dukes neuromuscular specialist. I will never take my child to see him again. The other staff and nurses are wonderful, however Dr. Taravath is the opposite of the other staff.

I came in for an appointment about my sleep disorder and this doctor was nothing but rude and belittling. He brought a student in without asking my consent and went out of his way to criticize me. After I burst into tears not only did he tell me to “cut it out” he didn’t stop with the comments. I will NEVER step within 100 of this awful person.
