Sara Westgate

This office is the worst I have ever experienced, and I have a team of 8 specialists, plus my regular/primary care doctor. This office had me wait me wait an extra 2 months to make my appointment, so they could run my insurance and make sure it would cover the EMG testing she wanted to do. I finally got in to see her, and halfway through my test, I was crying because of the amount of pain her test was causing, while she told my husband (in front of me), that the test doesn't hurt, and I must be overreacting. Then she tells me that I have small fiber neuropathy, and that the test must have been excruciatingly painful. After all of that, I found a new neurologist, because I expect better from my caregivers. Then about 8 months later, I got a bill in the mail for over 600 dollars, saying that insurance didn't cover her services! I would not recommend this office to anyone I cared for. I have been super pleased with my decision to receive care from this practice. From the front desk staff, billing/insurance manager, and nurse to the care from the Dr. Westgate and Mariah the NP, everyone has been super reasonable and easy to work with. I have never had unreasonable wait times and communication regarding appointments has also been a breeze. A special shoutout to Rebecca who has been extremely responsive anytime I have a question regarding insurance and billing. After waiting months for appointment they would not see me due to not having my copay and they would not bill me for it! Front desk and staff was rude and wouldn't even ask doctor if I could be seen.

Never even saw the Doctor! I left a message and waited 24 hours for a return call. I was referred to see this DR by a current patient of hers and a friend of my husbands. The young lady that called me back treated me like I was an idiot. I was wanting to confirm that the Dr was in network for me. She replied that they accept my insurance. I explained many places will accept insurance, but may not be in network. Her response was "We are contracted with your insurance" said in a way that stated "you are an idiot". When I left my message I had stated I have been suffering from dizziness and severe headaches that in one weeks time brought me to the Urgent Care and ER. When the gal asked for my symptoms and I told her them, she informed me that the Dr would see me for the headaches only and that she would not discuss or treat the accompanying dizziness. That I would have to seek the advice of a second doctor for that. I explained that it did't make much sense to see two different neurologists in which she repeated again "The doctor only treats migraines and will not treat the other symptoms". Yes, I got it.... I would not come back to this doctor based on her front desk staff. When I am in a position to need a neurologist, I don't need some front staff girl treating me like I am a 12 year old idiot. If you can get past the treatment by the staff, she may be a good doctor, I have no idea, but I am not about to pay for TWO different neurologists when I am paying it all out of pocket to meet my deductible. I never saw the doctor, but the staff made me never want to see her. First, the phone recording tells you to visit the website if you want an appointment. Then you see schedule consult or schedule EMG / EEG. Umh, want to explain. The forms aren't secure either, which is terrifying. You want me to submit my private health issue through your website and you don't even use basic SSL certificates. Then I call the doctor's office directly. I explain my situation and that I had seen my primary care doctor and talking to my doctor friend and they both said I needed a nerve study. The woman on the phone was very rude and said I don't need you saying that you need this that and the other, I need a fax from your doctor's office. I call my primary care doctor and they said they would send it. I never heard back from Westgate's office and I got bogged down in work. I am a 36 year old with a very busy life and issues feeling his hands. I don't need rude people making me jump through unnecessary hoops that delay care. Shame on this team. I am sure the doctor herself is crazy smart on paper. Read these reviews and think about the front desk staff training, the original recording, and the website presentation. It will help a lot. As of the last 2 visits I'm feeling like after being a patient w/ Dr .Westgate and her PA for several years that I'm now not being taken seriously about my life & diseases. I still am going for my appt. today. I'll see if I still feel the same after my appt. I'm hoping that I'm wrong.

I can’t even begin to say enough about this practice. They are by far the best neurologist in town. Not only that, but I feel like they are my second family. I suffered for years with migraines before seeing them and they immediately made a plan for me. I’m now doing amazing thanks to them. You won’t regret coming to see them.

I felt very well taken care of. Dr Westgate was very easy to understand and what she said made sense. I've been going to Doctor after Doctor and the others have been at a loss to figure out what is going on with me. I now feel on the right track, Thanks Dr Westgate and staff!

Dr. Westgate is by far the best Neuro doctor in the Central Texas Region. I am the owner of Amada Senior Care and we refer all of our patient/clients to Dr. Westgate for any cognative impairment, dementia, Alzheimer’s, migraine symptoms, ALS, and Parkinson’s. Their is a reason she has a long waiting list of people wanting to be seen by her when other Neuro docs don’t. When your dealing with these types of situatuons you want the best. I have gone to Dr. Westgate for well over 10 years and I have been extremely happy with the care I have received. Initially, it was a little difficult to get to know Dr. Westgate as she is reserved and very thoughtful and I did not have the vocabulary to completely explain what was happening to me, partly because it was all so strange and new. But with time I learned that Dr. Westgate is an extremely caring, intelligent physician who listens carefully and patiently explains options to address various problems. In addition, Dr. Westgate has a superb PA, Mariah, and nurse, Mary, who are excellent. Both individuals are very experienced, thoughtful, caring and kind. I cannot recommend Dr. Westgate's practice highly enough to anyone who requires a neurologist or suffers from migraines. I was impressed with Dr. Westgate and feel relieved to have found a neurologist that I trust and enjoy going to. The office staff was receptive to my calls and emails as well. I was referred here my my PCP due to numbness in my hands. During my visit with Dr. Westgate, she seemed rushed and uninterested in what I had to say. After electroconductivity testing confirmed irregular nerve function, she diagnosed a B12 deficiency that TWO blood tests showed I didn't have. She prescribed B12 shots as treatment and never scheduled a follow-up to check that treatment was working. I got the shots and they did nothing. I just stopped going after a while. Dr. Westgate made me feel like my problem was insignificant and that she couldn't be bothered. She didn't care about me or getting an accurate diagnosis and as a result, my condition has progressed and I am waiting to see a new doctor. I was referred here my my PCP due to numbness in my hands. i can't understand the negative comments on this site.The only frustration i had was getting the initial appt and preparing all the documents she wanted. But once there i was astonished by her enthusiasm and holistic approach. She left no stone unturned. I never have a problem getting an appt.Her approach was completely different from the previous neurologist I was seeing. He was reactive and mostly waiting for things to get worse. Dr. Westgate was proactive, advising me to have DBS surgery, which the previous doctor had ruled out. i had the surgery and it has worked miracles. I think I might be dead had I not switched doctors. My first appointment they were treating me from another patients file, and could not figure out why I didn't agree with what they were telling me. They made me feel like I was lying about my pain. I had to "apply" for 8 months to become a new patient. Her site and the fact that I was referred to her gave me a lot of hope. I have been a patient for a year now, and nothing is better. I keep getting the same treatments even though I have told them that they are not working. I am not getting other options. Dr. Westgate actually yelled at me, while I was in her office, in pain, asking for help, and said that I needed to see a psychologist, because I didn't understand why she couldn't give me other options. She decided to get my PCP on the phone so they could argue over who should help me. I walked out of her office, still in pain. I went back, because I was desperate. They pumped me full of magnesium and Demerol. My headache is still here. I am still in pain. I am still asking for help. Thankfully another physician recommended someone else. I do not recommend this neurologist. She seems to have a pre-set agenda and does not care what you have to say about your own issues. Hardly spent any time with me and does not seem to care. Continued to prescribe me various forms of the same medication that makes me ill. Billed my insurance for a service that was not rendered for my last office visit.

Unfortunately, I would actually give zero stars if it were an option. Although Dr. Westgate's website gave me great hopes, I have never been so frustrated as I have been in trying to make my initial appointment with Dr. Westgate. I first called and the message suggested first time patients could go online to set up their first appointment. I went online and filled out the form. There was a statement that if you did not receive a phone call within 48 hours, to call the office. I waited a week, no call. I called the office, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to speak with a human. Every option on the recording leads you to an answering machine. I have left 2 messages in the past 2 weeks and today I left my last and final message. I am assuming Dr. Westgate is either too busy or poorly manages her practice. Neither of these are good for patients. After reading other reviews, I now realize that Dr Westgate is NOT the doctor I would want to see if after waiting 4 weeks, an online message and 3 voice mails later---no one had the decency to even respond to me.
