Dr. Hartman always answers any questions I have. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Having the lab in the same building in Decatur is very convenient.

Dr. Hartman changed my life! He was able to make me mobile again. I am so grateful for his expertise. I went from laying on my couch crying from pain and frustration to being able to move and do everything I wanted to do again.

This Doctor only wants to charge money and shows no concerns about patient's well beings. I visited him for tingling and numbness in my arms. He saw me for about 5 mins and suggested some tests. I specifically told him that i have a really high deductible and to please only do anything that he thinks is neccesary. They then charge me $400 to see him plus those tests (insurance only paid 10%). I paid for those tests in full. Called the office to see if they could reduce the charge. They said if I did not have insurance, it would have been cheaper?! The office manager spoke to the doctor and he claimed he did not remember having conversation with me about my financial difficulties and would not reduce a dime. The worst thing is that they never followed up with me about my conditions after those tests came back negative. I still have the same symptoms. He did not give any medicines or solutions to help. Dr. Hartman takes time to get to know your symptoms. I was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis. He got me back to my normal activity level. I even went into Remission/inactive arthritis because of his care and the good Lord above! It’s been a little over 3 years of taking no meds and sadly in the last few months has become active again. Dr. Hartman is direct. If you need a doctor to pacify you, he isn't the doctor for you. I like his honesty. When I first came to him, I was concerned about drug side-effects and refused to take them. I was determined to self treat with herbal remedies. He didn't argue with my decision. He told me to try it and let him know when I was ready to revisit my treatment plan. Now I take the prescribed Rx, no problems. My visits are uneventful (which is great). He spends as much time as needed w/me.

Dr. Hartman just dismissed me as a patient after seeing me one time and ordering blood work. I did not know that all my symptoms could be related so he told me to come back at our next visit with pictures of my multiple rashes (he already saw one) and list of other symptoms. There is no next appointment. Despite testing high positive on my ANA, his office called and told me to go back to my PCP and not to come back to him. I guess I am not sick and dying yet.

Dr. Hartman uncovered the root cause of most of my (varied) symptoms by diagnosing my Hyperparathyroidism. Once that was dealt with, I feel better than I have in years!

2 reviews 1.0 star rating 6/9/2016 Dr. Hartman was the rheumatologist on call when I made a plea for help over the weekend. I was experiencing a terrible flare and asked if there was anything he could give me for pain. There is nothing beyond prednisone that will take away your arthritis pain. And then he told me that prednisone isn't perfect and that I would just have to disappoint my customers when I told him that the pain was making my work impossible. He was rude and incorrect and act

He should retire from the medical field, his bedside manner is terrible and is totally unprofessional. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis by him, and immediately prescribed Plaquinil to do away with the Prednisone disregarding the fact that I already lost one eye and knowing that Plaquinil affects the patient's vision. Left me without medication after kicking me out as a patient and telling us not to worry because he'd call a prescription in to make sure I wasn't left without medication.

Dr. Sanford has a terrible bedside manner, confuses you with constantly contradicting himself. I have repeatedly corrected him in things within the medical field that he should know. He cursed at me b/c I didn't make my 6 month appt on time. He expected me to explain myself for the fact that the last time we spoke I was pregnant. I lost the baby, and I didn't see a reason that I needed to explain that to him. I will never recommend this doctor, no will I ever go back to him.

My experience was TERRIBLE! At first he didn't believe my diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis from other doctors since I was doing so well. So he ordered his own labwork and X-rays. At the next visit he tested the strength in my hands by pulling them, which set off a world of inflammation throughout my body, starting later that same day. I've been suffering tremendously with pain ever since, especially in my hands and wrists. That was over 2 months ago. Do yourself a favor and find someone else.
