Drs don't call in meds when they need to ..I had to give a star to give my reviews ,I wouldn't have given any ..

I have family how is a patient here. The staff is terrible, they are incompetent, can't even send medication refills to the pharmacy on time. Had to deal with my partner out if pain medication during weekends several times, so not a simple mistake.When you complain they just don't care. Avoid this place.

I was very disappointed and frustrated with the doctor and the pain center. My appointment was scheduled for 3pm. They told me the procedure will take 10 mins to 20 mins, but I made to wait in the bed for 3 hrs in excruciating pain. I went to the pain center to get help with the pain, but it seemed like the doctor did not care. Once it was 5:00Pm, I called my friend and asked her to take me home. She came inside the facility had to let them know this has been very painful and frustrating for us. The nurse told me there are a lot of patients and apologized. Why would they overbook? Why would they say they have an opening at 3:00PM? As soon as my friend came and almost yelled at them, they took me to the room and gave me the shots. They either overbooked or are giving priority to certain patient because of whatever reason. I am looking forward to going for a follow-up appointment. I intend on canceling it. I will not recommend this doctor nor the center. The quality of service was poor and painful. I was very disappointed and frustrated with the doctor and the pain center. I first started going to Dr Schockett around 15 years ago because of severe pain in my back. I had actually popped one of the disks between my vertebrae several years before and the inflammation and pain around the injury was getting to be too much to handle on my own. Dr Schockett set up a regimen of physical therapy and pain management that allowed me to go 3 more years before having to undergo surgery. To this day I am thankful for the care I received at that time. Which is why, after having a liver transplant and subsequently suffering a back injury brought on by my medications leeching calcium from my bones, I returned to Dr Schockett when my pain started to get overwhelming. Dr Schockett always talks to me like I'm a competent adult, unlike some other pain management people in Austin, and I appreciate that immensely. The staff at Capitol Pain is kind and competent as well. I have never been dealt with the way other reviewers claim to have been, and I have also never heard anyone at the clinic being treated with anything other than respect and care. I just came to this page to look up the Dr's phone number and saw the negative reviews and felt like I should chime in with my experience. I appreciate Dr Schockett and am very thankful for both times I have been under his care. I wish I could move back home to Austin because Dr. Schocket was one of the 3 best doctors (in any field) I've ever been treated by. No, he won't hand out opiates like candy to ppl with fibromyalgia, ME, etc. I'm guessing that's why he has only 2 star reviews. He was considerate, thorough, and really listened. I took myself off pain meds, it made my life a lot worse, so he put me back on. Most doctors will never represcribe once you taper off. I have severe permanent injury & disability and my pain isn't caused by emotional or mental issues or depression or being overreactive. And I think he treated me appropriately...which is a whole lot more than I can say about how I've been treated on the NHS. I miss this place. And no one ever laughed at me. They were all courteous and professional. The only thing I can complain about, is that prior to attending this clinic, a Doctor I saw once - who never saw my x rays - convinced me I had CRPS type 2 and put me on gabapentin. Dr Shocket and his team kept me on it, and treated me as if I had crps (and all the mental stuff that comes with it). Well, several years ago I realised I had zero of the psychological aspects of crps and my foot no longer looked like it had it (I never protected my limb or worried about it). So, I stopped gabapentin cold turkey and within 3 days I had zero nerve pain. It's then that I remembered I only got the nerve pain after I started the gabapentin! So I never had CRPS - it was just what my foot looked like after severe permanent injury, many surgeries that didn't help much, and advanced osteoarthritis. It's been 5 years since I stopped gabapentin and I still have zero nerve pain or hypersensitivity (i am in a whole lot of pain, but only at the original injury sites). So, if they would have caught this, I think my treatment could have been even better. Totally does not care about managing pain. In it for the money. My advise is NEVER get involved with a pain doctor. There all quacks

Awful. Seems to care when you first start going but after several years, that compassion disappears. My mom is the patient. He’s very indifferent to her pain and doesn’t pay attention to what she says. Seems to have a God complex. He knows better than the patient on how you feel. Never offers any other suggestions for pain management other than opioids. She recently had a fall so had to take more pain medication than she normally would so ran out early. The response she got from this office was that if it happens again, they will fire her as a client. What great compassion. After 5 or more years as a patient and never having something like this happen before, you’d think they’d know she wasn’t selling them or abusing them. So she went in excruciating pain for 2 weeks with no medication because they just don’t care. Changing doctors now. I will not let my mother be treated like a drug addict or with so much disrespect. Dr. Schocket has been my pain doctor for over 12 years, I consider him fundament to me reaching 70! My spine was fused L3-L-4 at 40 by another doctor and I have been in pain ever since. Dr Schocket has helped me in some of my darkest moments of pain. He is smart, current on medical literature, latest reach and procedures, listens and offers options. He is a true polymath! I was considering a major spinal fusion last year ( people in pain are always looking for relief). I interviewed 12 of the best spine doctors recently including Tiger Woods latest spine surgeon. ...12 doctors with 10 different opinions. Only Doctor Schocket and Tiger Woods surgeon agreed as to what was best! No surgery! Dr. Schocket has been the best physician in a sea of pain and doubt. Horrible place of business . they took my 81 year old mother off of any pain medicine saying that they were concerned about her respiratory system. Well just the beginning of last year had her on 3 Hydrocodone 10/325 daily,Tramadol 2 daily, Meloxicam 1 daily (All the while) her also taking Xanax 1 daily. Sounds like THEY were real worried about her health then. And she has a degenerative hip,lower back and broke her pelvis in 4 places. She can nearly walk literally and so called Nurse HEATHER CLARK implied well what if she got into my meds. I keep ALL of my meds in a safe and the key is hidden. These people WILL NOT even meet CDC GUIDELINES. We were reassured that the new guidelines would not effect us in anyway because we had enough medical records to protect them and me, BS!! They became a PILL MILL double and triple booking paitents and still do all for the MONEY!! Please Implore you if you have a loved one or just yourself, find another Office. Today I had to wait almost 1:45 min before even being seen. Insurance has guidelines the DR'S have to follow and that's 20min a patient. Your lucky to get 5min. They are also suppose to check your pulse,blood pressure, weight. Of which the 4 3/4 years I've gone NEVER EVER have they checked my weight. Capital Pain Institute has the worst stafe I've ever encencountered. They're extremely rude and disrespectful. I have caught them laughing at myself and other patients several times. They treat you like you don't matter. I've complained to management at least three times about their rudeness, and it never seems to improve. They sit up giggling and joking instread of doing their jobs. As far as Dr. Shocket goes, if you can even call him that. He's one of the worst Doctor's I've ever had. He doesn't listen to you and he doesn't see you. You mainly see P. A's and they're no better. Jasmine was the only PA that actually listen to me. The waiting room is over packed. You spend more time waiting, then you'll ever spend talking about your pain. You get 5min with a P. A then you're out to go wait some more. Ruined my life! After a while of seeing him he talked me into implanting a pain pump. He put it in wrong. I complained for well over a year that it wasn’t working WHATSOEVER. I was made to feel like I was crazy by him and nurse Jennifer, and that I was just seeking drugs. I finally got him to test it properly. Come to find out I was right and the prior 2 years I had NOTHING flowing into my system. I demanded he take it out, which he did. However, he tore 2 holes into my dura, causing my spinal fluid to leak for almost a year. I had a spinal headache for almost a year! Worst pain I’ve ever been in! To fix it I had to have a neurosurgeon do a laminectomy and remove part of my spine. I still had the headache after the first, come to find out he tore 2 holes which caused me to need a 2nd laminectomy and even more bone removed from my spine. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. DO NOT LET HIM DO ANY PROCEDURES OR SURGERY! I will NEVER be the same. My body is permanently messed up still to this day because of this man. Save yourself. Don’t go here. Ruined my life! She's is excellent. Patient, thorough, works well with my hard headed medic background. Explains without going over my head but doesn't dumb down either.

I am from AZ and was concerned in finding a new pain management Dr. Fortunately 3 years ago, I found Dr. Schocket and his staff. I am exceptionally pleased with NP Tara Levy. She listens to my concerns, has great bedside manner and overall could not be happier and my pain has been greatly reduced.

Dr Schocket is absolutely the smartest, confident and compassionate pain doctor I have met in my 14 years of pain. However, on this date, the front desk staff was very rude to me. I was in tears until I realized that she was not only rude to me, but to others in line after me. Then I was angry that this staff member could treat patients like trash, even if she was "having a bad day". I have never felt so demoralized. Dr Schocket, you rock like a ROCKET!

I have been fortunate to find a Dr in Dr Schocket who only cares about the overall health and wellness of his patients with the whole emphasis of his work being grounded in patients care. I owe him and his team a debt of gratitude for seeing me through the deterioration of my back and knees and know that without their concern and expertise that I would be much more limited in my ability to really live life instead of really participating which is what they have helped me do! Thanks guys!

I have come to Capitol Pain for 10 years due to DDD and Secondary Progressive MS. He and Jasmine (NP) have been spot on for assisting through the various pain; of which, pain from these diseases are unpredictable. I highly recommend.

Overall wonderful experience with Dr Schocket.

Pain was minimal during the actual experience. It was far less painful compared the last PRP last year. Very thorough in explanations about procedure.

I just received lumbar injections, which he explained completely so I would have full understanding of what was going to be done. After the treatment my lumbar spine felt better than it had in 15 years. My experience each time I have come to Dr. Schocket's office has been a positive one and his staff are also kind and professional in their treatment of their patients.
