Dr. Russell Howard Samson

Dr. Samson is a good doctor, very thorough, but seriously needs to work on "bedside discussion". He went into a lot of brutal detail telling my dad how he would die if his aortic aneurysm burst, and my poor dad was not able to handle this information and is living life absolutely terrified now.

During monitoring and subsequent surgery on my aortic aneurysm I found Dr. Samson to be one of, if not the best doctor I have ever met. He is professional and truthful without being alarming. He actually cares about his patients.

After witnessing my friends experience as well as the horrible results I would highly recommend against using this Dr. The sad part is no accountability for how he ruined her leg. My gorgeous friend will not wear shorts again. Life changing and super disturbing a Dr with any professionalism could live with themselves after witnessing the progressive issues he caused. Reading the other reviews here I’m actually shocked and have to assume they were written by friends or staff members. I went to Dr Samson because he was reputed to be the best in Sarasota.....God help us if that’s true cause he butchered my leg AND good!!! My leg looked good for about a year and then progressively got worse for the past 3 years. If I could post pictures here I would show how bad it looks. What my leg looks like now is 10 times worse than it was before the surgery. Dr Samson is pompous and arrogant. When I called the office the week before the procedure to ascertain how much money I would have to bring after insurance coverage his billing department finally got back to me after repeated attempts on my part and told me the amount due from me would be around $1200. The day of the surgery they said that was incorrect so I told them I could put the rest on an Amex they said that wasn’t possible and I would have to do the procedure in 2 parts. I then developed a blood clot after the first part and had to be placed on blood thinner for about a month finally we were able to do the the stripping of the greater saphenous vein in which was a barbaric procedure with nothing more than a local numbing agent. Since he had decided to do the procedure in 2 separate appointments due to the whole billing issue (that he admittedly said was indeed his office error) he couldn’t get to the vein and the numbing agent wore off as he tugged repeatedly for the vein and I experienced the worst pain imaginable. His own assistant looked over at me with great sympathy as I winced in pain. I believe because of his decision to do the procedure in two parts is the reason the result now is so hideous!!! Dr Samson is great. He is very helpful with both spider and varicose veins. I highly recommend him!

Efficient and friendly staff. Did not have to wait long and Dr Samson was very through and answered all my questions. If you have vascular or vein problems or cosmetic issues I highly recommend.

Dr. Samsom performed varicose vein surgery on both of my legs. The procedure was certainly worth the final outcome! I'd highly recommend Dr. Samson to others!
