Dr. Ronald D Gardner

Was not impressed with the facility. A lot of things went wrong with my shoulder surgery. Too many to list. My hand is still swollen and stiff from the nerve block for one. My surgery was last October!

Stay away from Gardner Orthopedics. I am permanently disabled from a routine hip replacement that resulted in 2 botched surgeries by Dr. Hodge on 11/15/22. I was under anesthesia for about 12 and I stopped breathing and almost died from cardiac arrest. I have permanent drop foot and numb right leg and foot - the nerves are dead, according to nerve studies I had done. He didn’t prescribe an anti-coagulant so 3 weeks later I passed out from a huge DVT in my right leg and a bunch of blood clots in my lungs - 2 pulmonary embolisms. An emergency thrombectomy at Gulf Coast Hospital on 12/8 saved my life. Cardiac problems and pulmonary issues. Am still in PT 2-3 times a week, but I will never recover my balance or leg and foot functions. They spent a lot of time covering their tracks, rather than treating me.

Dr Gardner tries everything before rushing you into surgery. He is very patient and will work with you. I have been seeing him since 2016 and have been putting off TKR, I went thru multiple injections which have worked up until now. I will be having a TKR in the next several weeks but would always recommend seeing him!

6 years ago Every Knee Dr wanted to do a knee replacement Right Away. Went to Dr Gardner and under his Program. Relief came very soon. And even now 6 years later I have no knee pain and my original knees. (Knock on wood). Everyone there is topnotch.

I had been going to Dr Gardner for knee pain after falling on cobblestone. He did injections and finally a MRI that showed torn meniscus. After five months of being in pain, since the injections did not work, he told me that there was not anything he could do for me since I had a high BMI. He referred me to other doctors that might be able to treat me since I had a high BMI! So I wasted my time and five months of intolerable pain. So if you re someone with a high BMI , don’t waste your time and money seeing Dr Gardner as he will not do surgery on you.

VETERANS Be very cautious/aware if you choose to use Dr. Castellano at this facility. I honestly do not like writing poor reviews for the damage can be lasting, but this is very warranted. I additionally made several attempts for him to correct or explain in full my responses and he refused on 3 separate occasions even after speaking with the administrative assistant who was helpful and made an effort. Background: I am a disabled veteran who went to the facility due to issues dating back over 20 year regarding continuous foot pain. I met with Dr. Castellano who had many questions regarding the issues at hand. I explained the issues with confidence and confidentiality. After finally requesting his notes to be submitted to Veterans Affairs his notes specifically stated, "He states that he is trying to get an increase in his disability after being in the service and that this problem started in the service." I did make this as a reference. However, it far explains the detail of our conversation making it seem as my only reason for coming to his office was for money. As stated, before he was asked to go more in more detail regarding the conversation he completely refused with no explanation. He was made aware prior to treatment that the findings would be submitted to VA for review. Which creates even more of a concern for VETERANS!!!! I have been going to Gardner Orthopedics for years! I trust Dr. Gardner and his staff beyond measure. All of the doctors at Gardner Orthopedics are wonderful. They are caring, informative and very knowledgeable. I have been seeing Dr. Gardner since 2012 and he is the greatest!! He has been helping me with my knee issues with great success. I travel from Tampa to Ft. Myers (2.5 hours) for his expertise. Doctors Martinez and Costellano are also excellent in their specialties. I saw Dr Martinez who evaluated my left shoulder. We discussed my future decision making process. Eventually I will no longer be able to have a shot in my shoulder. I will then decide when to replace it. The doctor answered all my questions and was gentle, but straight forward about my situation. I appreciate his candor. I feel confident in Dr Martinez’ professional opinion. I have even recommended friends to Gardner Orthopedic several times. I saw Dr Martinez who evaluated my left shoulder. Dr. Martinez and his staff were amazing, he save my right bicep by re attaching the right distal bicep tendon that I ripped off my radius. I was a mess when I showed up there, my upper arm was deformed the bicep retracked up the arm leaving a flat spot just after thr crook of your elbow. I was extremely nervous. The surgery had to be done within a certain time peroid or it couldnt be done at all. He arranged everthing to go off with out a hitch to include working with the VA, getting the MRI scheduled, getting the surgery room reserved and setting up physical therapy. He was always available any time I had questions via his staff and returned my call in a timely manner. Post surgery was fairly pain free a few days after surgery. Excellent experience. Arrived immediately had X-rays taken and called in to see the Dr. I have a broken elbow. It was operated on and my recuperation is going great. The doctor is always available to address concerns..

Sherry, Nurse Practitioner, is the BEST! She is very thorough in her assessments/treatment and really wants you to feel better. Her support staff are equally awesome and always show that they care about the patient.

Dr. Castellano is too quick to push unnecessary and invasive $urgery He recommended invasive bone-cutting surgery for a healthy child with no complaints - stating that there was a strong chance of damaged knees in 50-60 years. When asked for statistics/research, he couldn't provide any. Thank god I have a doctor in the family to tell me what questions to ask. Turns out that the general consensus among reputable organizations (like Mayo Clinic, New York Hospital for Special Surgery, National Institute of Health, etc.) is to NOT do surgery, and that studies DO NOT back up Mr. Castellano's claims. Brad Castellano of this practice is a BUTCHER. DO NOT ALLOW HIM TO PERFORM any procedures on you. He literally botched my foot surgery so bad I have 2 local surgeons recommending I file formal complaints with the medical boards of Florida and secure an attorney. He cut my heel in the wrong location taking away 80% of my heel and allowing it to shift up off the ground. Then the Butcher slid my heel in the WRONG DIRECTION. YOU read that correct... He moved my heel medially instead of the intended lateral shift. Simply unbelievable and pure incompetence. This man needs his license revoked and Gardner Orthopedics should terminate him immediately." When I attempted to address this with Lela the practice manager and Dr Gardner I was never contacted back after verifying they received the imaging. Infuriating to say the least as Dr Gardner has his name on the practice. Not showing any concern for my situation as a surgeon is inexcusable and tells me all I need to know about this man and this practice. Have been to this office on a number of occasions and found the staff to be consistently helpful and friendly. I've only met Dr. Gardner once, but the time spent with him was of high quality and he really listened to what I had to say. I am a 73 year-young woman. Dr. Gardner performed two total knee replacements on me in the last 12 weeks. After the second one, at my two week post-op appointment, I told him he needed to go back to medical school!!! He needs get certified in dermatology, gerontology, cardiology, podiatry, dentistry and all other fields—-he is the best doctor I have ever met and I want him to treat any and all my ailments. Not only is he the best, his entire staff is full of kindness, thoroughness, and expediency. His medical complex meets any and all orthopedic needs. I was referred by Lee Health. i have a knee injury. II was supposed to be called by this doctor. After no contact, I called Lee health back and got their number. Called. Twenty questions, SS number, all insurance numbers, the whole deal. Then they ask me, if I have spoken to an attorney. Recently, I had called my maritime attorney, of course not retaining him. I was referred to this physician by a co-worker, although the office is pleasant and waiting time is good, the outcome was a TKR. After this procedure, I can say that "only the man above" deserves 5*'s and this physician used what God gave him, but the outcome is yet to be desired. No one in life gets "excellent", if that was the case he or she would be the almighty. Dr. Gardner is conservative in regards to his treatments. Will go down all avenues before " the inevitable." The 5* goes to the man above, who lets this physician practice with good results.

I've used this orthopedist for several cycles of knee injections over the past four years. Always professional, little to no wait time, and the doctor and his staff spend the time to make sure that I know the alternatives and the expected outcomes.

Dr Gardner replaced both knees (four months apart). I can now walk miles without any pain! Excellent results. Rehab was not fun, but so worth it six months out!

Had the coolief nerve block before my TKR (right knee) I highly recommend it. Surgery was 3 weeks ago. My pain level has never been higher than 2. Very pleased with Gardner MD.

He repaired my rotator cuff tear without surgery! He has the best solutions with the least risk.

Simply the best.I truly believe he saved my leg and possibly my life.After knee replacement surgery I fell and reopened my knee.It had to be completely redone with a high risk of infection.This man showed up at midnight on a Friday night to redo the surgery and kept a very close eye on my recovery. He really cares about his patients.
