I have seen Dr Liebzon twice with my daughter. The second time worse than the first. This doctor is absolutely awful. First time he was just scary dismissive and didn’t believe that she was passing out at random. He made her feel like a hypochondriac. For the second visit we needed the results of the heart monitor she had been wearing. After waiting one hour in the office (we waited 45 minutes the first time) He just said the results “looked fine”!! I kept pressing him for the results. And he said her pulse had been 175 during sleeping but that wasn’t “life threatening”. When I kept asking what could bring her pulse so high he said maybe it’s the medication she takes for her anxiety. And that she should stop the medication if it wasn’t “life threatening” for her not to take it. Also he wouldn’t refer her to the autonomic reflex screening for POTS, even though the rheumatologist who send us to the cardiologist said that was the next step.

Dr. Roman Leibzon discharged my mom after only 3 days after having a defibrillator put in after a massive heart attack weakened her heart. He knew her heart was weak and kicked her out of the hospital without giving our family ANY discharge instructions or what signs to look for in case of sepsis. Nothing. No communication. Just sent her off to a post acute facility with a UTI that we weren’t told she had and with pulmonary edema and NO ANTIBIOTICS!! He didn’t tell anyone what symptoms to look for for sepsis. Didn’t warn us that the early signs are confusion and sleepiness. He didn’t follow up with my mom for 9 days while she was in the rehab center and her UTI was developing into full blown sepsis. If he would have called her or us even once during that timeframe to monitor for signs of infection then we could have caught the sepsis early. But by the time the rehab center sent her back to the hospital with low blood pressure the sepsis had already travelled to her organs and she spent a whole month fighting for her life before she died at age 75 leaving behind a 29 year old daughter and 25 year old son. Shame on Dr. Leibzon and all the staff at this hospital for discarding a 75 year old mom and not communicating with her family. If they would have given one course of antibiotics for the UTI she would surely be here today. I miss my mom. It’s my first Christmas without her. I hope they never forget her easily preventable death. And to the case manager Maureen who wanted us to stop fighting for her, I hope she focuses her energy more on getting doctors to treat their patients before they get sepsis and prevent sepsis and communicating with families after discharge about what to monitor for rather than only swooping in when she wants patients to stop treatment and die. Shame on this place. Heroes certainly don’t work here.

Dr. Leibzon discharged my mom from Los Robles hospital only 3 days after she had a defibrillator put in after a massive heart attack. He didn’t give our family ANY discharge instructions and sent her off to a terrible facility for rehab. She had a UTI that he did not treat which turned into sepsis. My mom died at age 75 because Dr. Leibzon and his team didn’t prevent sepsis or tell us what to look for to catch it ourselves. She was high risk for infection and they gave her no antibiotics and discharged her way too fast with no follow up to check for signs of sepsis. This is medical negligence. I am 29 and lost my perfect, loving mom. My 25 year old brother lost his mom. My dad lost his wife of almost 50 years. A cardiologist who doesn’t look out for sepsis or follow up with his patients after heart attacks is not one you should rely on. I miss my mom. Shame on you Dr. Leibzon. You should have told us what symptoms to look for with sepsis and you should have treated UTI with antibiotics

My experience with Dr. Liebzon was frustrating. I had gone in with a rhythm problem (SVT) that required a diagnosis, and Dr. Liebzon was quick to tell me that I needed tests, but would not discuss what was happening with me. I asked questions about what was going on (pulse jumping from resting 70 to resting 144), and he wouldn't say a word about what could be going on or what could cause something like that. He ordered tests and told me that once my insurance approved the tests I should have them done and see him in a month. One month when you are terrified, and the doctor does not do anything to put you at ease is a long time. I am not sure why he wouldn't communicate with me, but he simply wouldn't. I truly have never seen a doctor that when you ask something as simple as, "could stress be causing something like this?" just look at you and respond with, "I will see you in a month after you have had your tests," then walk out of the room.

This man should no be allowed to work on living people, up the femeral artery with the scope seconds after only a couple shots of numbing agent, seconds after a pill form Sudafed & 5mg Valium & only the mildest fentanyl doses when I was about to pass out from the pain. The pain management nurse that promised me a Twilight experience was directed by this monster not to do so. The pain was so horrific I tore the muscles in my lower back, he never addressed my A-fib in any of the visits and when I asked him while he had the catheter in my heart injecting dye how my valve looked, he said “ I don’t know, you’d have to see a cardiologist to ask that” DO NOT LET THIS MAN TOUCH YOU! I am filing a complaint with the medical board, UCLA medical group, UCLA medical center & Los Robles hospital.
