Very poor "bedside manner"'when treating my daughter. Didn't take the time to review her case ( she had seen him 3 times in the last year) and didn't remember putting a tube in her year. Dr Shea dismissed her concerns and was very rude. Do yourself a favor and seek out a more compassionate human being to treat you.

Jill is an exceptional audiologist. I recently had a hearing exam with her and was thoroughly impressed with her professionalism, knowledge, and care. She took the time to explain the results of my exam in detail and provided me with valuable information about how to best care for my hearing. Additionally, the PA Bernice was very patient and understanding, making the experience as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend Dr. Shea and his team to anyone in need of a hearing exam or any ENT needs. Five stars!

Routinely 60 minutes behind schedule. Things happen, but this seems to be the standard. Worth the wait, just plan accordingly.

Dr. Shea provided an unrivaled level of care/compassion for our son. After a weekend trip to SMH's ER, and having to wait until first thing Monday to book an appointment - our nerves were well past the point of "shot". My husband and I both saw Bernice, the PA for Dr. Shea. We’ve been dealing with ear issues for some time. We live in Longboat Key Marina on our boat 1/2 the year and Raleigh NC the other half. Of every Dr. or PA we have seen, Bernice was the very best. Kind, gentle and awesome is how I’d describe her. After 2 weeks of pain, 2 pediatrician visits and an ER visit, we finally landed with Dr. Shea and I’m so glad we did. He had my little guy’s ear feeling better within a matter of a few hours. Highly recommend Dr. Shea and his wonderful staff!

Dr. Shea is amazing with kids! My daughter had to have something removed from her ear canal and after two other people tried to remove the foreign object, she was pretty much traumatized and the mere mention of someone touching her ear caused panic and a flood of tears. The first time we met with Dr. Shea, he could see how terrified she was and did not want to make her fear worse. He informed us that the object was not hurting anything in its current spot and told us to make an appt. for a later date to see if she was calmer or if it came out on its own. Fast forward to today... my daughter still panicking and in tears awaiting the appointment. He did not pressure her at all, but was very reassuring and sweet. He showed her where it was on a special camera and asked her to let him try and he would stop anytime she wanted. I could see she was reluctant but finally agreed. He was very skilled and gentle and got it out with no issue. It's a huge relief in our home, and I think this positive experience will encourage her to trust medical professionals in the future. I had a good in office visit. I feel like I like Dr.Shea's attitude and how he seems trustworthy. He was honest and said that he wasn't sure if the septoplasty would help my breathing, and I agreed to try it anyway. I was left with hardly any difference in breathing but what I was upset about was the cartilage at the tip of my nose was now very uneven and noticeable. After Dr. Shea agreed to help me with the costs of getting it fixed by a plastic surgeon, he last minute changed his mind and did not help with any of the costs. As a teacher who is pretty much living paycheck to paycheck, having a hard couple of years taking in 2 children that aren't mine after the death of their parents, I was relieved at the offer of help. Only to be let down in the end. I wanted to have a good experience with Dr. Shea and I believe he could do good work, but my situation didn't work out and it ended up hurting me emotionally and financially. Scheduled a hearing exam.What a rip off! Wouldn't recommend

Was seen for 10 minutes only after waiting an hour after my scheduled appt. time. I don't have health insurance and was self pay, they told me initial visit would be $140 but I ended up paying $282. The doctor prescribed me over the counter meds that I could get myself and said my condition was caused by something else completely unrelated to what my complaints were about. Also, the doctor specializes in pediatrics and I'm in my mid 20's. I do not recommend seeing them as they seem to have over stressed staff and the doctor is just trying to shuffle through patients in order to pad their wallets. I called in to get information to get an idea what it would cost to be seen. The receptionist was rude and it felt like all she wanted to do was either sell me or get me off the phone. I didn't feel welcome, nor will I ever contact them again for anything.

The last straw was when he put a cotton swab in his ear, pulled it out, and showed me how disgusting it was—explaining that it’s normal. & His funk was entirely unrelated to my problem—an image that I hope fades. Saw Dr Shea yesterday and in my opinion he is a top notch Dr. He is Fair, Honest, and Thorough. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

Just had a submandibular stone removed by dr. Shea. The office was busy but everyone was quickly and courteously attended to. My time felt valued and my procedure was quick and professional. I took my 2 1/2 week old son here for a tongue tie and my experience was awesome. We got in and out within the hour as a new patient. The staff and doctor were wonderful. My boy didn’t even cry!

There are no words to express our gratitude to Dr. Shea. He responds to texts at all hours and fits us in. His knowledge and care far exceeds. We would give him 10 stars if we could. He is brilliant and he has a huge heart. We recommend him to everyone and we are so very, very grateful to him for his care and knowledge.

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Shea for the last 1.5 years and we have had the best experiences with them! When my daughter needed to get tubes in he was able to fit her in within a week for the procedure. Everything is always well explained and the office staff is amazing as well. Recently, they needed to check my daughters hearing (she’s 3), and she was not making it easy for them. The whole office sang baby shark for her to try and distract her! Finally after an hour, I said I was not going to wait any longer. For three years, I have always had to wait an excessive number of minutes to see the doctor. Always an excuse. The problem is that his appointments are made excessively. Need more time between each one. I was told they had to call my regular doctor to get authorization for insurance. But they called them during their lunch. Never told me out in parking lot waiting that I would have another 30 minutes or more until they return from lunch. Dr. Shea's appointment process is poorly set up and conducted. There is always an excuse--small office, new girl, did not know, etc., etc. Dr. Shea really needs to hire someone who has good control and a sense of customer service to all patients - not only the ones with big accounts or large insurance claims. I can see by previous evaluations, other patients have felt the same frustration!!!!!!

Best experience with a doctor I’ve ever had. This doctor goes out of his way to get you taken care of as soon as possible and is very good about staying in contact when working with you!

I can say this is an amazing Doctor, my daughter started seeing him when she was 2 years old for recurrent sore throat issues. He is very patient with the kids and he listens to the parents, my daughter just went back to see him and now she is 5 years old for a separate issue. And not only was he detailed and patient with my child this time around, but to ease my heart he gave his personal cell phone number so that I can keep him up on how my daughter was doing after hours. Dr Shea did my daughters ear tubes and has been a great doctor. I can always get a hold of him when I need to and he’s very caring. He’s a true master of his profession, I have nothing but positive things to say about him. I strongly recommend for any ENT needs.

My new born baby had an appointment at 11am. It is now 12:15 and we are still waiting. Staff does not seem concerned or apologetic.

I find that it’s either love or hate for this dr. We had a absolutely horrible experience with him. At the time I thought it was fluke and called the office about the experience and was brushed off that it wasn’t like him and could have been busy. Went back for a follow up (after he told me my pediatrician was basically and idiot for having my son on antibiotics for a basic sinus infection and then cultured it to prove it and then called us back that we needed stronger meds) with my husband and had a similar, almost worst experience. We found him incredibly rude and condescending. Many people I have talked to have had a similar experience with him being as above. He may be a good fit for some but I’d seek different care. Dr. Shea is the best of the best. I’ve been a patient of his for 10+ years and both of my sons are currently in his care. My father had cancer back in 2002 and Shea took amazing care of him. I recommend Dr. Shea and his staff to anyone in need of an ENT.

Amazing experience with Dr Shea and his staff. They have gone over the top on multiple occasions for our family. Our baby was crying and too upset to take the hearing test- so his staff continued to bend over backwards in order to accommodate us. Dr Shea was also extremely thoughtful and provided assistance in navigating an insurance issue for our newborn. He could have easily walked away from it and he didn't until we found a solution. My infant son had to have a minor procedure to fix a tongue tie. They were so kind and friendly, and performed the procedure quickly and precisely.

My daughter had surgery in Nov 2016. Staff is excellent and Dr Shea was amazing. Highly recommend.

Good doctor with AWFUL wait times, ALL the time. Have never had less than 45 minute wait, often with screaming kids in the waiting room. Thinking of leaving this practice because of the wait, not because of the doctor.

Dr. Shea is absolutely amazing! He was wonderful with my daughter. She was very nervous and he was very kind and made her feel better. I would highly recommend him!

Wouldn't be able to speak to his ability because after over an hour wait I never got it to see him. When I got up to leave receptionist tells me they are about to take me in.... many people who arrived after me, got in before me. Front desk is a disorganized circus! When I called to schedule, reception said they would call me back at lunch time ??? Lunch time came and went and nothing ...that should have been my warning. Called next day after calling my GP to get my number # as they lost it!

This doctor helped me when others wouldn't, in extremely tumultuous times for myself. I'd accurately say he went above n beyond...when he definitely wasn't obligated to. All staff were exceedingly helpful too, especially the lady occupying the front window who was able to get me in to see Dr. Shea.

Dr. Shea's practice is very busy. After waiting 30+ minutes after the stated time of my app't, he spent perhaps 5 minutes with me at most. I felt he didn't listen when I described my symptoms and that I was rushed through the app't. He kept repeating symptoms I never mentioned; I needed to reiterate my actual symptoms. He speaks very quickly so, IMHO, he's difficult to follow. Then he raced from the room, saying I should come back if the condition doesn't get better. Unsatisfactory visit.

I took my 6 year old son here because he failed his hearing tests at school. I was extremely concerned about him not hearing a car or anything behind him. This office confirmed his hearing loss and then blew me off with my concerns about my son. As a mom I voiced my concerns to our pediatrician who had me get another hearing evaluation at All Children's and they confirmed it. They said it was significant hearing loss and he needed a hearing aid. SHAME ON THIS OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!

Had an appt for my 95 yr old grandmother and everyone was wonderful!! She had been seeing another retina specialist, but wanted someone closer to home. Could not believe the difference! Dr.Shea and his staff where amazing! They took their time, explained everything to her, their equipment was state of the art! So She was comfortable the whole time. Thank you Dr.Shea and your team! She actually wants to continue her treatment now!!

Dr. Shea diagnose me with squamous cell carcinoma of the left base of tongue on May 12th, 2012. he established a treatment protocol eight weeks of radiation daily and once a week chemotherapy. During this treatment he was constantly monitoring my condition. every time I go to his office he and his staff are very very punctual and caring. I would recommend him to anyone with a problem of this nature.

Doctor was very in tune with my child, listened to my concerns, explained things in detail and was patient with the kids.

Absolutely love Dr. Shea. Almost 3 years ago was referred to him by our Pediatrician Dr. Carroll. My oldest son had tubes put in. Dr. Shea was soo great with everything. 2 years later, my youngest son needed tubes. Dr. Shea was my one and only call!! I can not express how wonderful he is and how great he was with my boys. I love all of the Staff there. Because he is such a great Doctor, he is always busy.
