Dr.Capasso changed my life .He was the only doctor that took the chance to operate me because I have a blood condition called ITP low platelet count and he had never seen tonsils so huge and he knew he could handle the job. I had severe case of sleep apnea and was always falling asleep. Thanks to Dr.Capasso I'm able to sleep and breath and carry on a normal life. My tonsils were so huge that it was the person in the Guinness world record and I were the same size and weight Thank you for taking the chance and changing my life 100% god bless you.

I went to see Dr. Capasso because I was referred for sleep endoscopy, for which he is 'famous.' I waited months for the appointment. I've been using CPAP for many years. First, he questioned the diagnosis! To make matters worse, he recommended I do a trial off CPAP! My CPAP pressures are out of this world high. I can't just stop! He said I didn't need the sleep endoscopy because he could tell it would be within normal limits. He said one reason for doing sleep apnea surgery is for social reasons, that is, if my snoring bothered my bed partner. First, I don't have one. Second, since I wear a CPAP, my snoring would not bother a sleep partner, but the machine noise sure would! I tried to explain that to him, and he just kept harping on the bed partner being bothered by snoring. I don't snore because I use a CPAP mask! He interrupted me every time I started talking. He disregarded any concern I had about my sleep deprivation and mood and memory. He said that the only people who have cardiac problems from sleep apnea are those who get low oxygen in their blood while sleeping and mine was not low enough. And he quoted a study showing that people with and without sleep apnea have the same neuro-cognitive function. So by that reasoning, sleep deprivation from sleep apnea does not affect memory, judgment, mood etc., so the airline industry has been wrong all these years to limit the number of hours a pilot can fly. I guess he did not read that blood flow to the brain decreases before any low oxygen in the blood shows up on monitors. But he was insistent that if my snoring bothered a bed partner then that would be a reason to take action. Then he tried to stick a scope down my nose without numbing me first! His assistant had to remind him. Do not waste time and money going to him. I don't know his skill as a surgeon, but based on what I heard him say, I would be very hesitant to trust his judgment or his knowledge. If you are an obese male with a thick neck, then he will believe you have sleep apnea. Anything else, he will not. Also the sleep docs at Stanford are very factioned off and political, and that's difficult if you need to see more than one of them because you will get caught in the middle.
