Presbyterian referred me to this clinic, after I called Presbyterian. They looked me up by ssn. I was not there. They said that Presbyterian doesn't cover vision. I noted that Presbyterian looked up my number and simply advised I call and make my appointment for my eye care check up. The lady at Dr Quick's office in cedar crest, said if I'm not in the system, I'm not covered. I was referred, by this woman to contact Presbyterian. I reiterated, that I had. Dr Quick has been our family optometrist for years. Always timely, professional, and technically adept. Same for his staff. He remembers details of each of us from visit to visit. I don't know where the low ratings came from but a family of 4 gives him 5 stars for 10 years.

(NM Eyecare Associates at 10701 Montgomery Blvd.) Dr. Quick's exam for my medical issue seemed okay/standard in quality. However, I caution any patient to BEWARE of this office's billing practices. I have had to file medical insurance billing fraud claims against Dr. Quick's office: 1) with my insurance company (for charging my credit for the vist and then billing my insurance company and receiving payment for the SAME services. This doctor received payments from me/my insurance company that were 2.5 times what insurance would allow and the office would not reimburse me for the difference until I threatened legal action and filed claims against them), 2) the NM Medical Board for Optometry (for either fraudulent or negligent billing practices that appear to be standard operating procedure in this office), 3) the NM Taxation & Revenue Dept (for charging tax directly to me for a claim that is untaxed when processed through insurance) 4) my credit card company (they charged my credit card 69.39% of their 'non-insured' full price rate) and then billed my insurance company for the exact same charges and received 100% of their contracted rates = ILLEGAL. My conversations with Dr. Quick's office staff at NM Eyecare Associates suggest that this may be standard operating procedure for this doctor when you use insurance. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE review all your bills and payments (via your credit card and insurance payouts shown on your EOB - Explanation of Benefits) with this Doctor. Report any fraud you see and take action quickly. I hope this was a one time thing and that I am the only patient this has happened to at NM Eyecare Associates. But, I have invested over 2 months of energy into getting this resolved, the office is NOT very responsive, and it still is NOT handled. I have had to work with fraud departments and my attorney to deal with this. Legal action will be my next step if this is not handled inside of a week. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware!
