Dr. Robert Daniel Mastey

Dr. Mastey is a wonderful surgeon and I highly recommend him. He performed different surgeries on fingers of my left and right hand and I am very pleased with the results. He explained each of the procedures very clearly and described the healing process in detail. Follow up visits were pleasant with his sense of humor and relaxed manner. The Center for Sports Medicine was very professional and efficient as well. I recommend Dr. Mastey without any reservation whatsoever, and give him the highest rating possible.

I have seen Dr. Mastey several times over the past years and is always professional, kind and most compassionate. He diagnoses the problems quickly and I have complete trust in him.

Don’t do it. Seriously, find someone else for surgeries that involve skin grafts and hand injuries. First, Dr. Mastery’s bedside manner is difficult. He seems to not understand his patients might be in pain. After a painful table saw injury to my hand, Dr. Mastey started care for the wound. Every time I have visited his office, he has instructed the nurse to put a band-aid on it after he examines it. I have spoke up consistently and the nurses have been very compassionate and taken the time to re-wrap the injury with gauze and sports wrap. This is not a band-aid injury, so it feels out of touch with reality when he suggests such things. Secondly, I was awake with local anesthesia as he performed a nail removal and skin graft to repair the damage. Hand to god, as the surgery is taking place, I hear him ask for sterile cotton balls- and the response is, they’re out. Then I hear him ask for mineral oil to coat my finger so the graft doesn’t dry out as it heals (he wants it to stay wrapped until I see him again in a week and a half) and again he was told that they are out of mineral oil and they had recently stopped carrying it. When I went to the follow up, Dr. Mastey unwrapped my hand and told me the skin graft had gone necrotic due to drying out and that mineral oil would have helped. He literally said that in front of me, then told the nurse on his way out the door to get me a band-aid. Save yourself, find a different surgeon.

Dr Mastey immediately diagnosed my problem and scheduled surgery. He was highly recommended by 2 of my friends who he performed surgery on.

Dr Mastey has repaired both my thumbs and corrected the Carpal Tunnel in both hands. Fast, friendly, efficient service in his office and in surgery. Excellent results every time. Carpal Tunnel surgery is actually a breeze now. I should have had the surgery sooner!

Dr. Mastey took extra time with me, with a complicated case. Then operated on both arms and hands with really 100% success. I couldn't be happier and my symptoms are gone!

Dr. Mastey is a highly experienced and extremely skilled surgeon. He was sincerely kind and compassionate during my interactions with him. His diagnosis and subsequent surgery (I'll add pain free recovery) has improved my condition almost completely. I will recommend Dr. Mastey to everyone with a hand problem.

Dr Mastey was very professional. I didn't have an appointment but the receptionist called him and he took me back and fixed my shoulder right up. Thanks to Sports Med.

Dr Mastey takes the time to make sure that I understand the nature of my injury and its treatment. The staff are very courteous and professional.

He was friendly, amusing, and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem with my hand & ordered something that may help it. I look forward to my follow up visit with him!!

Very professional and caring folks. Treated me with concern and care. Explained the procedures and gave me confidence and comfort.

Dr. Mastey and his staff were great. Very attentive to my concerns and took time with me to understand my issues. Dr. Massey coordinated a treatment plan between his office, myself and my primary care physician. So far, I have to say I am impressed.

Dr. Master was very professional. A very nice person and very confident in his work and I would definitely recommend him to others.

First appointment with Dr. Mastey & staff! Everyone had great bedside manner, from his assistant to the Xray tech! I was referred from several friends to Dr. Mastey and I was not disappointed! Received wonderful treatment once again from this group of excellent physicians!

Dr Mastey is top notch he did Carpal tunnel surgery on both hands and I am very please.and with no scare to boot.

Dr Mastey has been my orthopedist since 2017 when I broke my left wrist. If it was not for the slight scar, I would never be reminded that it was broken. Very good visit from start to finish. Dr. Mastey was very thorough. His assistant who did initial update of medical history was kind and patient while giving him details. Further testing was suggested and set up at the visit time or after I got home.

My son crushed his finger and we were all very upset and scared because he is a musician. Dr Mastey listened to his needs and concerns and has taken amazing care of him! He’s almost fully recovered thanks to Dr.Mastey and his staff! They are so nice and professional !

I have experienced increasing pain from a Flu Shot which was administered by a Pharm Tech too high on my Shoulder. It took 5 weeks to get a referral to a Specialist. They were so wonderful to fit me in the same day that they received the referral. Dr Mastey is amazing! He came up with a comprehensive plan to restore use of my shoulder and to alleviate the pain. I am so thankful for Dr Mastey and his amazing Staff for helping me so quickly and efficiently and starting me on the path to recovery instead of just pain tolerance!!! Great felt welcome

I had a wonderful visit with Dr. Mastey. He was kind, thorough and caring. He listened to my concerns and helped put together a treatment plan for me. I highly recommend him and all the great docs at Sports Med!

I dislocated my thumb and broke the joint. I had to have surgery. I seen him in his office and had surgery the next day. He kept me and my family up to date on what was going on. The has a great bedside manor.

I was able to get an appointment with Dr Mastey immediately. I had an elbow injury and was able to get it drained the very day of my appointment. Dr Mastey is very kind and professional. I highly recommend.

Dr Mastey is a wonderful Dr. He is very caring about his patients and gentle. He has done several procedures on me and I would highly recommend him.

Dr.Mastey is the best surgeon around . My broken bone was completely shattered. He fixed me up good as new and made sure I had all the knowledge and help I needed to heal back to 100 percent use of my wrist and hand.

Learned of Dr. Mastey through a trip to the ER in the early morning hours, due to my Mother falling and getting a nasty cut and dislocated right thumb. The ER doctor consulted with Dr. Mastey as the dislocated bone would not stay in the return position. We met Dr. Mastey and the support staff at the Gunbarrel location of Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic. Mother is over a 100 years old, and Dr. Mastey listened to my concerns and wishes, before giving me his best advice . . . .and a plan of action. The nursing staff were extremely thorough, and careful in dealing with Mother, removing stitches, and assisting us with leaving. Our latest visit was again a listening experience, and then Dr. Mastery giving us his advice. Everyone was extremely helpful. This is my third Center for Sports Medicine facility, and everone seems to be united in helping patients and their family members. Our lifestyles and actions can create problems with our bodies. My family, and now my elderly mother, know we can trust these doctors with helping us get back to functioning better, without recriminations. I had heard about Dr. Mastey for many years but never met him. He was personable and treated me with kindness and respect. He fixed my problem without a more costly procedure. I thought he was great.

I saw Dr. Mastey for an injury to my forearm and elbow. He was very thorough and addressed my concerns. He is very kind and took the necessary time to make sure I was taken care of.

Dr Mastey seems very knowledgeable about my finger problem & explained to me in clear terms his plan of action to remove the growth/nodule inside the tip of my finger.

Dr. Mastey has operated on my hands several times for carpal tunnel, trigger finger, and a torn ligament. He has also administered shots for pain in my shoulder and wrist. Highly recommend him.
