Doctor met with me right on time and clearly explained everything as well as answering my many questions.

Overall a very pleasant visit. I enjoyed the time with Dr. Macdonald, very professional and friendly.

Experienced, competent, thorough, great listener/communicator, excellent staff and surgical team - enthusiastically recommend as no surgery is ‘minor’ surgery.

Amazing medical office. The receptionist is a genuine caring person. The nurse and the surgical scheduling coordinator were amazing. Went above and beyond. Helped me with all the extensive and excessive paperwork from my employer. Dr. McDonald ended up doing my surgery and his beside manner was the best of all the surgeons in the practice. Thank you Roger, Kristina. Sorry I don’t remember the nurse’s name. The receptionist is the best I have ever encountered in the medical field. The receptionist gives you the first impression of a doctor office. She sold the office in the first 5 minutes I was there. Dr. MacDonald has performed 3 separate surgeries on my husband, left and right inguinal hernia repairs and removal of mesentery tumor with small bowel resection. He explains his procedures thoroughly, takes the time to answer questions and adress the patient's concerns, and is caring and empathetic. Couldn't ask for a better surgeon!

I had bi-latera hernia procedure last Wednesday by Dr. Macdonald and couldn't be more pleased. He described this procedure to me several weeks before and the morning before the surgery. There have been zero surprises with the exception of no swelling no bruising and very little pain. Infact I haven't taken any pain meds other than advil. He explained the hernia surgery, answered my questions about it, and told me what to expect during recovery after the surgery. He explained where the surgery would occur. The surgical center where I had the operation was great as were the medical people there. My life has certainly improved after the surgeries.

Experienced, compassionate surgeon. Staff was great and surgery was a breeze.

After suffering for 4 months and after seeing 3 other doctors/surgeons who had no idea how to fix a severe sports hernia on my left groin (different from a normal hernia), I stumbled on an article about Dr. MacDonald. He is the only surgeon in the state who has had luck treating this type of injury so I set up an appointment. He explained everything and said I would be back to playing ice hockey in 8 weeks (something that seemed very optimistic judging by my pain). He was right. After 8 weeks 90% of my pain was gone so I was back on the ice. After 12 weeks I was good as new. 2 years later I got the same injury on my right side. He told me I’m the first person who he has had to fix this on both sides of the body. Had the surgery but this time he also fixed two other hernias at the same time. A few months later I was skating again. 3 years later I’m 100% pain free on my left side and 99% pain free on the right side. Sometimes my right side gets sore with a lot of activity but I’m happy!

He is truly the best. A great doctor with great bedside manner

I honestly had a terrible experience with Dr Macdonald. I was strongly against mesh for my hernia repair, but he insisted he needed to use it for the best outcome, though it was a tiny hernia. The mesh bunched and I ended up having two more surgeries -$$$. I consulted other doctors who also were shocked that mesh was used for such a small hernia. Further, the last doctor to do surgery to fix the issue was surprised at the sloppiness of the doctor's technique -lots of big sloppy stitches. I still have problems in that area of my stomach. I found out later that some doctors get reimbursed more by insurance for different approaches, such as using mesh. I stil wonder if Dr Macdonald insisted on using it because of his reimbursement by insurance versus the best approach for my situation, which would have been a couple small stitches. Dr McDonald is exactly what you hope to get and deserve to get when engaging a surgeon. Outstanding, caring manner. Takes the time needed to explain the procedure, answer your questions, and assure you of the outcome - which, in my case, was as advertised. He loves what he does - and it shows. He's my guy from now on whenever I need a procedure that falls within his surgical portfolio.

I don't give many 5 star reviews, but Dr. MacDonald is a 5 star kind of guy. He repaired a tear that was causing unbareable reflux, and I've never had a problem since. In addition to his skill, he's a really funny guy which helped to put me at ease.

Fantastic guy...explained in detail what I was going through with my first surgery ever, followed up, made sure that we were on the same page. RECOMMEND!

He has an outstanding reputation, speaks plainly yet has a wonderful manner, and the surgery he performed on me as exactly as promised, with an excellent outcome. He is a highly skilled surgeon who deserves all the accolades he gets.

I consulted with Dr. Macdonald for my appendix. He was kind, considerate and very easy to speak to. The office staff was friendly and they got me in right away when I told them that I was seen in the emergency room. My surgery went will without any complications. I was up and about in two days.

Dr. MacDonald is a prince in his profession. My husband needed his gallbladder out and has a heart condition, as a person who takes warfarin when you hear the word surgery a certain amount of fear settles in. Dr. MacDonald put us both at ease, performed the surgery and Thomas went home that same day. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone without hesitation. Thank you Dr . MacDonald for being the professional you are.

Dr. Macdonald was referred to me by my physician friends. He did a double Ing. Hernia. He spend a lot of time with me explaining the procedure and my post-op care. Surgery went well and I was feeling like myself within one week. I am a runner, biker and golfer. I am back to doing the things I love, Thanks to Dr. Macdonald. Great job!

I had stones in my bladder and my family doctor referred me to doctor Robert. He started asking questions about the pain i was having very nicely and he told me why i had these problems. He then told me i have to do a surgery and i was really scared, however, he confronted me in a very nice, comforting and satisfying way which made me less freaked out about my surgery.
