I’m shocked at all the low reviews! I’ve been struggling with foot pain for years and this is first doctor to invest in trying to find out what’s going on and took the time to explain everything and answer questions I had. Just like with any doctor you need to go in prepared to advocate for yourself or with someone who will!

If you are looking for a dismissive doctor who cannot wait to get of the room...then Dr. Getelman is your guy. He offered no treatment aside from the idea I should learn to live with my pain, because he could not see a reason for it, based on only a physical assessment of just touching my injured area of less than 10 seconds. I left in tears and will be looking for another doctor.

If I could give him less than one star I would. He doesn't deserve to have even one star. I fell in a street and had some scars on my left hand and my left knee. I saw Dr Gazmarian (who is not a surgeon) at SCOI in Van Nuys a week after to make sure I don't have any broken bones. Two weeks after I received a bill of $535 from UCLA Health with no break-down of why I am being charged so high. I was shocked. I had never had such a big bill from an orthopedic office for just a short visit with PPO insurance. The doctor sent a wrong code to my insurance and charged me more than 3 times than my regular orthopedic doctor who is a surgeon in West Hills medical center. I will never go back to this place again, and I do not recommend this doctor and this place to anyone. They will take advantage of you and your insurance company, and will bill insurance companies as much as they want with wrong codes, and patients will be the victim of this process. I've been going to Dr. Gazmarian for at least 12 years. He's been wonderful every time I've been there and answers every question I have with his usual patience. I've recommended him to others and they love him too. I've seen these other bad reviews and I have to wonder if they have the same guy. He doesn't do backs or ankles. He's a knee specialist. I saw Dr. Gazmarian for an issue with my hip/leg. I had pain in my hip/leg for about 2 weeks which impacted all my physical activities. A nurse took an x-ray of my hip and took me to an examination room. THE DOCTOR CAME AND SPENT ALL OF 5 MINUTES WITH ME. He looked at the x-ray and said the hip was fine. He checked the nerves in my leg and then he extended my right leg outwards and when I told him that was painful, that was the end of the examination. He prescribed some pain medication (which I was already taking some) and said to continue with that. He asked me if I had questions. I was still perplexed about the speed of the visit and did not have time to digest what just happened. He left the room and was gone. I went out to look for him and I only found his assistant in the hallway who told me he was with another patient. He does not listen. His level of care and concern for the patient’s health is ZERO. I would not recommend this doctor to anybody.

PATIENT COORDINATOR DOES NOT COORDINATE. After a TWO-HOUR wait and one hour drive to Valencia, my son (in pain) was told that Dr. Gazmarian was not in-network for with our insurance plan. And worse, there wasn't anyone who could see or help him. We were happy to pay cash just to be seen but she couldn't even tell us how much it would be. He is a regular patient at SCOI in Van Nuys (as a football player) so it was outrageous that no one informed him of this until three hours of our day was wasted.

Would not recommend for workers comp my back has been hurting ever since I got hurt at work always have to remind him I didn’t ask to be here, but explains what’s wrong with you but won’t fight for you when it comes to insurance...

This doctor gave me a BAD EXPERIENCE. If you want to be lectured, with no help what so ever, this is your guy. Made an appointment for two body parts, went all the way to the office for him to tell me he can't see me for two he doesn't have the time, make an additional appointment. Anyways he Told me my back has an issue, RUSHED the entire appointment, would barely let me talk, and left. "You're trying to drag me into a conversation and I can't do that" I noticed another review on yelp mentioned the same thing. told me to go on some WIKIPEDIA to do research. Never got a copy of my x-ray. "Usually people just have muscle tears but you actually have a detached bone in your spine it's not there, go on this website do research, you're not in pain, here's physical therapy have a good day" The most STRANGE appointment I've had in my life. Love Dr Gaz. He knows his stuff and he helped me so much. Plus he’s extremely nice and very knowledgeable. He will always be my back doctor!

Dr. Gazmarian is an excellent doctor. I saw him two weeks ago. I had a long list of questions and he took his time in answering them. We went over my x-rays together and he explained what he saw. He encourages you to call him if you have any questions and to let him know how you are feeling. I am very relieved that I have a wonderful orthopedist. I recommend him very highly.

Dr. Gazmarian is thorough, caring and compassionate.

I was referred to see Dr. Gazmarian for chronic pain in my right knee. When he came in, he sized me up, didn't even look at the x-ray that I brought in and then immediately started talking about injections. He hadn't even looked at my knee, knew nothing (nor cared at all) about me or my normal activity. When he finally decided to take a look at my knee, he had me do things with my left knee when in fact I was there for my RIGHT knee. He was very dismissive and I will not ever go to him again.
