I’m so happy that so many had positive experiences. The insurance I have doesn’t reimburse much and I felt a bit slighted. Other than walking out through a flooded parking lot in 30 degree weather with most of my bare foot exposed, I suppose it was a good visit. The “notes” from the visit do not match what was indicated to me.

I must say he did not disappoint and his calming personality and demeanor was fantastic. I put off having ankle fusion surgery for five years because I was scared to death! However, I received three names of orthopedic surgeons and my doctor told me of all the names he recommended Dr Dekker as the number one choice. I made an appointment to see Dr. Dekker, his office is first class, his staff is top notch, and his experience and explanation of how he was going to proceed with the surgery was comforting. I was very impressed with the professionalism in all of his staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Dekker to any one of my friends or family.

I had a great experience with Dr. Decker. I was referred to him for some leg pain. I had a bad fracture when I was in my teens. Turns out I had a spur growing from my tibia that was protruding into the muscle and it was causing a lot of pain and swelling in my leg. Everyone in the clinic was very professional. The surgery scheduler was great and made sure all the bases were covered prior to surgery. Highly recommend.

I went to see Dr. Dekker for a second opinion on a break I sustained on my 5th Metatarsal Bone in my foot. When I called his office I was so welcomed by Kristen who was professional, empathetic and understanding. I was able to get an appointment quickly and when I arrived I was greeted by his front desk staff with that same candor. I was taken to do xrays with Matt who was so sweet and took good care of me. I was then brought to a room where Brandon, an assistant to Dr. Dekker, asked me a series of questions in preparation for meeting with the Dr. He was kind and patient and listened very well. After a very short wait, I met with Dr. Dekker. Words to describe Dr. Dekker would be very intelligent, excellent listener and communicator, down to earth, kind, welcoming, patient, understanding, and genuinely caring and interested in your welfare. He took the time to listen to me describe to him what happened and how I broke this bone to begin with. He listened attentively, without saying much and when I was finished he then looked at the xrays with me and conveyed to me exactly what he saw had happened. He let me know in detail exactly what he saw. And then described the pros and cons of each method of treatment to fix the fracture. He did this in such a way that it made it easy for me to understand which option was best for me. He gave me his opinion on which option he thought was best for me, all things considered. He thought surgery was best for me and I agreed after looking at all the pros and cons. He then told me he wanted to try to get me in by the end of the week because otherwise I would have to wait another week, and he realized I had already been in a fracture boot for 3 weeks. Again, just so kind of him! I am now 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery and am continuing on my path of recovery. On my surgery day Dr. Dekker made me feel so at ease and totally confident in his skills ahead of the outpatient surgical procedure. His chairside manner is 10 Stars! And Dr. Dekker has a Surgical Scheduler, Kristie, who is just the sweetest, kindest person; she will make you feel so at ease! From the moment she scheduled my surgery till right now, I have had to contact her several times and she has always responded to me quickly and patiently. She is a love of a person and a rare individual indeed. And last but certainly not least is Jaime, who removed by cast last week. She is another gem and the loveliest of lovely, kind, caring, and empathetic. In a world where people are often treated like a number, and doctors are preoccupied with getting to the next patient and give you 5 minutes of their time, Dr. Dekker and his entire staff are a world away from that! I race dirt bikes. We crash / fall all the time. I had a stupid crash and when I got up my foot was on backwards. Well that's not good. I went to Ascension Rochester. The took one x-ray, and surprisingly told me the ankle was fractured, but not displaced so I'd probably just need a cast. It was surprising because my foot was literally on backwards after the crash. But I was very happy it wasn't as bad as I had thought. They referred me to Doctor Dekker for followup. I saw Doctor Dekker the next day. He was friendly and professional. They took multiple x-rays. After reviewing the x-rays,he questioned the ER's initial diagnosis. He told me he wanted to use a sophisticated piece of equipment to do a real-time x-ray while he stressed the joint. I'm guessing this is not the type of equipment most orthopedic doctors have as I've never heard of it or seen it before. It displays a real-time x-ray image. It was kind of creepy seeing the bones in his hand reach into to move the bones in my ankle around but it made it very clear what the issue was. The break was displaced and unstable. Not getting surgery would have been a very bad mistake and I'm not sure we would have went that route based on the static x-rays alone. He recommended surgery to stabilize it with titanium plates and screws. He explained everything very clearly and told me I should make a full recovery. He was up front and honest about the fact that the post operative recovery would be painful. He scheduled me for the surgery 2 days later. He recommended I opt for a nerve block which would buy me 24 hours of pain relief after the surgery. The surgery went as planned without any complications. I did opt for the nerve block and I believe he sparred me some undue suffering with that recommendation. I was prescribed various medications afterwards. Two days after the surgery I noticed my face swelling and my hands itching. My face started not looking like me. I also had a strong bout of anxiety / panic attack. I suspected I was having an allergic reaction to something. The hospital had left me a nurse contact number after surgery which I called but they were no help. They just told me to contact my doctor. It was Sunday evening. I called the doctors office which went to an answering service and I left a message. I was surprised when several minutes later Doctor Dekker called me back. We discussed the issue and he suspected the aspirin I was prescribed to mitigate blood clots was the most likely candidate. He told me to stop that immediately and to take benadryl. He prescribed me something different to prevent blood clots. He was right as the swelling, itching and anxiety quickly subsided after stopping the aspiring and taking the benadryl. But I'm still amazed that at Sunday at 9PM I got a call back from the Doctor himself within minutes. I had to followup with Doctor Dekker several times. He was always prompt and didn't leave me waiting which was another pleasant surprise. Many other doctors I've dealt with leave me waiting for hours after my appointment time. He was professional, up-beat and made it an easy process. Here it is 5 months later and I have recovered 100%. I have titanium hardware still in-place and it will be there forever, but I feel exactly like I did before the crash. I'm 100% whole thanks to Doctor Dekker. I race dirt bikes. I love this group ! Dr Dekker is the second Dr I have seen in this group. He was so knowledgeable and helped me with my issue. The office is well run, minimal wait time. I would definitely recommend Dr Dekker or any other Doctor in this group.

We were very disappointed that they had no wheelchairs to assist there patients.

The people working in the office always pleasant and professional. They give excellent care. Dr Dekker answers all questions and takes his time with you. I never feel rushed and never have to wait long.

Back in July I broke my leg. I went to Dr. Dekker and explained everything I needed along the way. I had to go for surgery (my first one ever.) and he made it so easygoing.

OMG! I went to so many doctors and decided to try this place as last resort! Let me tell you, I left there crying! Not out of frustration but of relief that someone actually cares and will do something! Dr Dekker is so nice and caring and actually has empathy for his patients! I was surprised to get an appointment so fast! I called late Monday and got in at 8:00am Tuesday! I got there alittle late, and got right in, was out by 8:40! And I didn't feel like I was rushed in the least bit! I have to go back on Thursday for a MRI review! Even then, he had open spots to choose from! OMG! Dr Dekker just did my foot surgery for a rare type of cuboid fracture. He is a great doctor who pays a lot of attention to detail including keeping the patient informed on all the details of the procedure. He upfront lays out all pros and cons without hiding anything.He is very particular about the care his patients get and as per the hospital staff in the recovery room, he is the only surgeon who visits the patient in the recovery room and reassures the patient. He makes sure that the patient's family /helper has step by step instructions on what care needs to be taken. For example he made sure my husbsnd was ready with all the required meducines by the time the surgery was done.His instructions were so very clear! I fractured a few bones in my foot and am so happy that I went to Dr. Dekker and his team for treatment. They made the process quick and easy. From the front desk employees, nurse, x-tay technician, to Dr. Dekker himself they work so well together and friendly and informative. I am so thankful for them.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Dekker’s now for several months following an ankle injury I had over the summer. In July of this year I sustained ankle trauma that ended up consisting of several ligament tears and a syndesmosis injury. When the injury occurred, it was misdiagnosed as a fracture for about a month and then following the MRI results, the first opinion I received at a different doctor’s office was that I undergo surgery to repair the tears – which would consist of a plate being inserted with a rope inside my ankle to restore the position of the bones and allow healing. Coincidentally, I had a coworker sustain the same injury about a year before mine who had this surgery done and was still recovering – although he had additional nerve complications, I was under the impression I would end up undergoing the same surgery in order to make a full recovery. And that’s where Dr. Dekker comes in. I was referred to him after receiving the surgery diagnosis and I was looking for another opinion before committing to going under the knife. What I experienced in Dr. Dekker’s office was (and continues to be) everything I could ever ask for in an orthopedic. I could tell from the get-go that he puts the time and care into each patient that shows he understands not only that each situation is unique, but that there’s never anything more important than making the right decision for your health. He listened, he talked to me, he took the time to completely understand my ankle and what I’d been through, and he explained the options, the consequences of each option, and the path to healing. Every X-ray had to be just perfect or we’d take it over and over again to make sure it was. He did stress tests with me in the xray room, he explained the results, and took the time to show me in all of the images just what different gaps meant and what was happening inside my ankle. He recognized that my ankle was stable and I may be able to avoid surgery (therefore avoiding a permanent plate inside my foot), if I followed a carefully structured plan to recovery. Of course, I chose that route. And through the past few months, Dr. Dekker has been with my through the entire journey. Helping me get physical therapy when I was ready, helping me recognize when I was ready to move on from therapy, explaining the pain when it worsened or lessened, and guiding me to a full recovery. It’s now been four and a half months since the injury and I’m back to walking, running, and hiking – beyond grateful that I avoided surgery and found an orthopedic who took my health as seriously as I do. In summary, there are few things as important as finding a doctor who will spend the time making sure you receive the care that’s unique to you and your situation. In a world where it’s so easy to just group people by symptoms, slap a title on their injury, and recommend surgery or medication, I’m so grateful to have found an orthopedic who was meticulous and painstakingly diligent in diagnosing my injury. There’s nothing more important than your health – and everyone deserves a doctor who will spend the time diagnosing and the care healing you and your situation, as unique as it is. In January ‘20, I had a high ankle sprain and fracture. I had been told at a walk-in clinic that it was only a sprain and was told to walk on it while in a boot. The next day my swelling, coloring, and pain was horrible. Had I listened to the clinic I could’ve damaged my ankle so much worse Thank goodness I went to Dr Dekker. His staff and he properly diagnosed me, set me up with a recovery plan, and gave me options without being pushy. Wrist fracture. Dr Dekker cast then reset my fracture perfectly! Follow up visits were successful from X-ray techs to assistants and Dr Dekker recommended Health Quest in Rochester Mi. He was able to perform surgery to repair the tear within one week. He gave me strict instructions for my recovery and a very detailed handout of his requirements for my physical therapy. He assessed my mobility and my pain levels in great detail to determine the degree and location of the injury. I really appreciated the way of combining the analysis of X-Ray pictures and the hands-on assessment of the injury to give me the best possible diagnosis and way of treatment. Best Orthopedic Surgeon to see for ankle problems. He treated me for a broken ankle that required surgery. After surgery, he helped me get back to playing tennis and bike riding. I had a great experience in his office and I recommend him to anyone.
