My husband has had several surgical procedures with Dr Cheney. He is the BEST!! He also treats the patient’s family with respect. He always explains the procedures in a way anyone could understand.

Dr Robert Cheney is the best in his field. By the time I made an appointment with him I had been in pain over a year. Had several epidural injections at the pain clinic that didn’t work. He performed a miracle on me. I am pain free. No tingling burning or numbness in my legs. He helped me back to enjoy the quality of life I should have. Don’t wait and suffer like I did make an appointment and see this doctor. He truly is the MAN.

Dr Cheney is awesome. Only one I would trust with my spine.

It was a busy day for Dr. Cheney but he took his time to explain things to me and made me feel comfortable. Highly recommend!!!

I consider myself very lucky to have Dr Chaney as my surgeon he has given me back the quality of life I have lost and I'm very grateful to have somebody like him dedicated professional and caring about all of his patients not just me thank you all

He is an amazing surgeon and proficient in his work . I am fully satisfied and glad to have him as my surgeon. He did laminectomy and fusion and I am healing pretty well.

I had to wait little bit but totally understandable as all cancelled appointments due to prior snow storm had been accommodated. Dr. Cheney and his assistant were very professional, attentive and explained all the details very well for my case. Very satisfied!

Dr. Cheney and his staff are outstanding. From initial appointment to treatment and follow ups, Dr. Cheney is compassionate and caring. I was apprehensive but opted for surgery after several years of back injections and constant back pain. Wish I had done it sooner ! Very highly recommend.

Update: I called to discuss my complaint about Dr. Cheney not giving a second opinion. I was told to leave a message for a Tracy, which I did and never received a call back. I read the response from Bone and Joint Center 1 week ago on this review and left them my information for them to contact me as they requested. I still have received no contact from them. I guess having daily pain is okay with them. I am suffering from severe sciatica and had MRI by my primary MD 4 weeks ago which showed several disc problems. I told them to refer me to Dr. Cheney since I heard positive things about him. He will not see me because he doesn't do 2nd opinions according to scheduler. I told her I hadn't seen anyone in 4 years and it was a PA in another practice when I did. My MRI now shows significant changes but that doesn't matter, he still won't see me. I am very disappointed. I thought people have a right to a second opinion, especially 4 years later and a change in health status. Update: I called to discuss my complaint about Dr. Cheney not giving a second opinion. I was scheduled to see Dr. Cheney and instead a physician assistant came in. After asking if I be would seeing Dr. Cheney I was told he was too busy and was running late already. This was my 3rd attempt to find a resolution to my problem. Not only was I not asked if this was an o.k. option for me I left with no further solution than when I first arrived. They had no problem charging me the co-fee for no help however. Dr. Cheny was recommended to me but if he is this over worked I think I will choose someone else who has time for me and a different orthopedic group rather than the bone and joint center who should have more patient courtesy to inform a patient ahead of time the circumstances presenting themselves so they could decide if they would like to reschedule or accept the alternative.

Dr. Cheney was dismissive and condescending. His behavior toward me could be accurately described as that of a bully. He kept repeating himself over and over and would not let me speak. He disregarded the findings of the physician he had assumed coverage for. When I complained to the practice manager about Cheney’s behavior, both Cheney and the practice manager impugned my behavior rather than take responsibility for their own actions. Such unethical behavior speaks to a breakdown of integrity within this practice as a whole as well as irresponsibility and lack of commitment to patient care.

After too many months,years of unsuccessful treatment of back pain Dr Cheney diagnosed the underlying issues and performed a gratifying successful surgery.THANKS!!

I have been seeing Dr. Cheney since June of 2019. Never once was surgery pushed upon me. Exact quote, "You'll know when it's time for surgery because you will get sick of hitting yourself in the head and saying you can't take it anymore." I could not walk in the grocery store without going numb and have to sit, nor could I walk at a slow pace anywhere. This had been going on for over 15 years on and off. When Covid-19 hit in early March 2020, I could barely make the treadmill for 10 minutes without going numb. It was time. On July 1st, 2020 I underwent surgery. I am no loner in pain, I am walking over 2 miles a day at a brisk pace. I can stand in line without going numb and walk slowly with no problem. Dr. Cheney did EXACTLY what he said he would do, his staff was great and the entire experience was positive. I would recommend him to anyone who suffers from Lumbar-Stenosis. He's a Pro. DrCheney provided me with the most comprehensive, detailed and for me, self-motivating discourse that bolstered my determination to become more proactive. I realize why he has such a stellar reputation. His knowledge gave me power!!!!

Dr.Cheney has been a very kind, patient and knowledgeable orthopedist. His approach to my case was none aggressive and suggested several tests that no other doctor recommended. I give the highest praise to Dr.Cheney.

Dr Cheney changed my life immeasurably! He carefully followed my back issues and used conservative methods to treat it until I told HIM I reached the point of wanting surgery. He promised me he would make me feel better than i had in years and he was RIGHT! I can’t believe how good I feel. I can't say enough good things about Dr Cheney. He is an awesome doctor with superior surgical skills, exceptional intellect and knowledge and an excellent bedside manner, beyond compare. He rescued me for being paralyzed back in 2002 after a terrible car accident. He and his staff carried me thru the whole ordeal of emergency surgery and after care. I am extremely grateful for his knowledge and skill level with every day of my life. I will continue to make recommendations to obtain his services to everyone that I talk with that has medical issues to which he can help. My girlfriend went to Dr Cheney for neck issues which have been resolved. I referred my neighbor to him as well for back related issues which were resolved without surgery that was recommended by another doctor. I will recommend him until the day that I die. I saw Dr. Cheney this week. He was the third Doctor I saw and I wish he had been my first. I was very impressed with his compassion, expertise and understanding of my personal needs. I would highly recommend him.

Was told my chronic back pain for almost 20 years getting progressively worse would eventually go away if I strengthened my core!? It was up to me to get better, meanwhile my MRI showed multiple bulging, hurniated discs and curved to the side. When I tried to explain the grinding I hear along with the pain he cut me off and said it was because it was coming from through my neck into my ears and when I stated I knew that he just said you asked...no I was trying to explain the symptoms I know why I can hear it!! Been seeing another doctor for almost a year now that is willing to try to find a solution, without meds or treating me like a med seaker. Also, have been working on my core for a year and a half and guess what the pain is just getting worse still, just trying to stay in shape.

Dr Cheney is arrogant. During my consultation visit, he actually rolled his eyes while I was explaining my symptoms. But I didn’t have a choice unless I wanted to wait a lot longer for an appointment at the practice I originally want to go to. Hard to get new patient appoints during this pandemic. An appointment opened up at the other practice, so I did NOT go back to Cheney.

Robert Cheney was amazing, My Doc said if it was "HIS son he would send him to cheney...So I went.........Titanium in my neck, walked out the same day, no brace, 8 months of severe pain gone, now it's 3 years later & life is good!!!

From the moment I walked in everybody was extremely nice and fun. I loved meeting with Dr. Cheney and Dan. What I loved was the way they took their time and talked with you. Answered all my questions and gave me options . There was never any pressure for an operation. Let was left up for me to decide with all the info given. And I loved the way they shook my hand. Dr Cheney recently performed an ACDF procedure on three discs in my neck due to my cervical spinal stenosis and DDD. I am so glad I found Dr Cheney. I originally went to him for a second opinion. The first doctor I had gone to told me that if I fell I could become paralyzed and it was crucial that I have immediate surgery. I had neck pain, my hand would shake and would feel unsteady walking. The first doctor told me I would be in a hard collar for three months (he uses cadaver bones and fuses them into your neck). I am extremely active and explored if there were other options. Dr Cheney in contrast uses a strong polymer (not cadaver bones) so a hard collar was not necessary. The day after surgery I had immediate neck pain relief, & my hand stopped shaking from the nerve pressure. I never had to wear a hard or soft collar for three disc surgery ! Recovery was quick. Two weeks later I was driving a car and on an exercise bike. Two months later cleared to jog. Thank you !

Wow - I guess he doesn't realize he is just an ortho guy in upstate NY! From his behavior he must think he is either a sultan or a god. He was ill prepared for the consult and mis read the info. Can we still call these docs a quack or is that offensive to ducks?

Back in 2013 I fell at work and was severely hurt. I popped a disk out of my neck, and was paralyzed from the neck down. Dr. Cheney said I had a 50% chance of walking again. After 3 days in the ICU I took a baby step. I was in the hospital for a month and cane out using a walker. If it hadn’t been for Dr. Cheney, I don’t think I’d be walking now. He put my disk back in, a long plate to hold everything in. It’s been 6 years now. I’m am great.

He may be considered a good surgeon, but the trade-off is that he is the most arrogant, pompous physician you can meet. He has no filter, is condescending and downright rude and insensitive. We are forever traumatized by our office visit. He is extremely rude. I'd pop pain pills around the clock before I ever went back to him!

Told us that my daughter's condition was not something that needed treatment but 3 other opinions said we should address immediately. Two of those docs were family friends out of state so I don't have any fear that they were just looking for billable procedures. Treated us like we were stupid and it was obvious he was suffering having to deal with (ugh) patients.

If you have an orthopedic problem, Dr. Cheney is the "man". I was fortunate to have him as my doctor for a lacerated disc. He is thorough, takes time to explain your condition and recommend treatment. Frank Koslow

Awesome doctor! I had back pain for 4 1/2 years had tried everything had several shots in my back I did PT for over year . Friend of mine recommended Dr. Cheney because he had done surgery on him a few years back with excellent results . so I made an appointment went to Albany next time I went back was for surgery was in the hospital 2 days was walking the same night of my surgery and when I went there I was barely able to walk . I would highly recommend Dr. Cheney best doctor ever !

Arrogant attitude! Refered by a surgeon that moved out of the area that had been treating my condition for 8 months, and recomended discectomy. Cheney said everything my referring doctor had done to the present was wrong! Gave me meds and said to return to normal life. Six weeks on meds......NO CHANGE! Called to set up a follow up and was told no follow up neceaasry! Another big box store practice-quantity over quality! Meanwhile my pain is unbearable and frustration immeasurable.

Dr. Cheney saved my life after a severe spinal fracture that almost left me paralyzed. Thanks to Dr. Cheney's incredible job on my emergency surgery, I recovered completely and have almost full mobility and ability to do all the sports I loved before my accident. Can't recommend him enough.

Laminectomy surgery was a waste of time and money. Arrogant attitude, lack of caring and spending at least one hour in waiting room, every time.

I was in pain for a few years and went to several doctors within this practice. They did nothing. The best thing I did was switch to Dr. Cheney. I had Lumbar Stenosis that needed to be corrected by surgery. Thanks to Dr. Cheney, I am on the mend. I highly recommend him! If you go to the Bone and Joint Center and see another doctor..don't hesitate to switch to him. I did. Even though it was a little awkward...I'm glad I did it.

Dr. Cheney is awesome! I was told by another ortho I might need disc surgery and I was so nervous. He looked at all my charts but didn't see anything that matched the pain I was in. He prescribed some stretches and PT but I left disappointed knowing something more was wrong. An hour after I left he personally called me and said he was looking over my charts and noticed my arthritis tripled in the 2 years between MRI's. He blood tested me for ankylosing spondylitis and I had it. So grateful.
