Dr. Whiles is absolutely fantastic with our kids. Very kind, patient, and down to earth.

My family has seen Dr whiles for a very long time and always loved it there. Dr whiles himself has always been a great Dr but his staff is absolutely terrible anymore I have a 3 year old that is having severe allergic reactions and needs to be seen to be able to go to the allergist but the rude women that answer the phone would not care if he was dying. I am so discusted. They want to put my child over a month out for an appointment instead of helping unfortunately Dr whiles is my son's pcp so he is the only one that can refer him to the allergist. I have had him to the er and was told he needed to see the allergist asap. So now I have to find a new Dr just to take get a referral for him. I will never be back with any of my children and I will make sure everyone knows how little they care in times of need. My family has seen Dr whiles for a very long time and always loved it there. My husband and I have been going to Dr Whiles and Holstein Medical Group since 2003. We have a Medicare advantage plan this year and the office refused to file our insurance. I tried to call the office several times and am always put on hold for close to an hour and then cut off. My husband needed a renew on his heart medicine and they refused to write a Rx for it. I also needed to file a claim for last year, before the change in ins. coverage and they refused to help me told me to file it myself. I have had real problems with Houston Medical Group this year and feel like they don’t care about our health. My husband and I have been going to Dr Whiles and Holstein Medical Group since 2003. Superior physician with a truly caring manner.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Whiles for years. We watched her health deteriorate quickly. She had a terrible cough, her oxygen ran low (about 89%) and her color wasn't good. She slept a lot, and became irritable easily. Maybe because she was a smoker, Dr. Whiles never ordered a sputum culture, chest x-ray, etc. Her diagnosis was asthma. (I have the chart). We finally convinced her to switch doctors. One visit with the new (not HMG) doctor, and he had ordered home oxygen, an antibiotic for her congested cough, and a chest x-ray. The x-ray showed a blood clot, which the new doctor sent her to the ER. A CT Scan (which was supposed to be ordered yearly and wasn't) showed a large mass in her chest. This was the first day with the new doctor! It's now three weeks later and we have a confirmed diagnosis of lung cancer and an appointment with an oncologist. Sorry Dr. Whiles, but the Asthma diagnosis is due to laziness and a far cry away from lung cancer and COPD. Older people beware of this doctor. My mother was a patient of Dr. Whiles for years. Best pediatrician in Bristol! In fact, his pediatric office was voted #1 Pediatrics in Bristol. On top of that, he's an internal medicine physician with 22+ years of experience. He's also the Medical Director at HMG Primary Care & Pediatrics at Sapling Grove. What a resume! An excellent caring pediatrician and family care physician! I see him as my primary physician and all my children see him for their pediatric care. He has a great bedside manner and shows great care with all my family. He really spends time with each of us and answers questions, with knowledgeable medical advice. Exceptional primary medical care, including plans and outcomes. He gives great advise for further medical referrals to specialists. We have used his advice for surgeons and a gastroenterologist, and those doctors were top notch too! He provides follow-up and really strives to find the source of all our medical problems and disease processes, as well as our ongoing wellness. He has a top notch staff and each office visit has been great, the whole atmosphere there is professional and friendly! How we found him: Dr Arthur Garrett, who I know from working in one of the hospitals where he had privledges, had been our Pediatrician and geneticist for about 14 years. He was the best of the best! His retirement greatly saddened us! We searched for years for a doctor to fill Dr Garrett's shoes and Dr Whiles is the only one that comes close. We liked his pediatric care so much my wife and I asked to be his patients too. To our great relief he accepted and I am thrilled to call him my doctor! Best pediatrician in Bristol! Dr. Whiles has been wonder for both me and my son. He is thorough and listens and provides options on what is best to do. He offers every option to cover what needs to be done. Very personal and helpful. We are glad to have him as our family doctor. My mother is also seen by him and they always go the extra mile for us all.

My mother was a patient of Dr. Whiles for 5+ years. We watched her health deteriorate quickly. A 55 year smoker, terrible cough, and low oxygen, Dr. Whiles never even ordered a chest x-ray. First appointment with a new doctor, he ordered at home oxygen, gave her an antibiotic for her cough, and found a mass in her lungs. Three weeks after that first PCP appointment, we have an oncology visit scheduled at UNC. Dr. Whiles diagnosed my mom with asthma when she really had lung cancer.
