Dr. Richard P. Ward JR.

Dr. Ward is an excellent doctor but he is apparently short staffed. I tried to get the results of my blood work and waited days before hearing anything. I went to his office to find one person on duty who had a line of people checking in. Phones were ringing and people placed on hold for over 10 minutes. The person on duty seemed uncarring and unco-operated and should be dismissed from her job as a result of her attitude. I like Dr. Ward but he needs to have more staff to run the front desk and they need to be more courteous and answer the phones in a timely manner without keeping people waiting. Also if there is anything involving tests results don't keep the client waiting, especially if there is concern.

Been a patient for a couple of years now. Very pleased at first, less so now. In the last few visits I feel rushed by Dr. Ward, feel like he gives a cursory look at my chart, doesn't really follow up on specialists he refers me too. It leaves me feeling like an annoyance and unimportant. Maybe he just has too many patients now to spend any amount of time with. His office is huge & everytime I go, there are completely different faces. That seems strange that a completely new office staff is there every visit, which is every 3 to 6 months, occasionally monthly. Probably going to find a new PCP. Most of the reviews on here are old, so maybe things have changed recently.

Overall Dr Ward is one of best doctors ever.

It was my first time, so I can only speak to the one time visit; but I felt very listened too and I wasn't spoken down too, I was allowed to ask questions and state my concerns and feelings. I didn't feel rushed at all. I have another appointment scheduled for in a year.

Excellent visits on all levels. Listens well. His staff are very caring. Chasity, his assistant, is exceptional responding to questions regarding your concerns. So glad I found this team!!

I have been to Dr ward 3 times he is a terrible person he called my situation nonsense rolled his eyes was very unconcerned about my situation I wouldn't recommend my dog to go to him

Got along great and he gave me great insight of my lab descriptions. Felt very comfortable talking with him and glad he's my new primary.

Dr. Ward is one of the best!! If you are looking for a trusted physician in the area, one that will do his research and truly cares about his patients I highly recommended you see Dr. Ward.

Though I'm relatively new to Dr. Ward, I've had some complications (including during Covid), and have felt totally supported and listened to. I don't feel rushed during an appointment. He takes time to explain and even pulled information from the internet to further discuss. Glad to have him as my PCP!

My 85 year old father is Dr Ward’s patient. We are very pleased with Dr Ward’s professional and thorough bedside manner. My MIL is a patient of Dr. Ward's and had recently undergone testing for some health concerns. Dr. Ward took the time needed to review and explain the results in a clear way that my MIL could comprehend as well as relaying the recommended next steps. She really appreciated the extra time he gave in simplifying the details and I do even more so! So often physicians can race through a conversation using medical terms that are not easily understandable and the patient can leave confused. That was not the case here at all. I've known Dr. Ward for many years and am so blessed to be one of his patients. He's a faithful, caring, and patient-first doctor who always has his patient's well-being as his first priority. I would and have recommended him to my family and friends.

Let me in pain for a week and a half . Went to another Doctor to get the proper care and treatment.

This Doctor and place is so wrong . They left my wife in pain for 1.5 weeks . She went to another doctor to get the proper treatment.

Our primary care physician retired last year without notice; however, I was looking to find another doc closer since he was so far away in Farmer's Branch and we live in Hurst. My 91 y/o Mom lives with my husband and me, so we all three needed a primary. My cardiologist recommended Dr. Ward and my other docs and nurses highly recommended him also. When we first saw Dr. Ward, I was extremely impressed with his bedside manner, his friendliness, his thoroughness, his caring nature, and his wanting for you to understand everything in your plan of care. Dr. Ward explains things and asks you if you have any questions. He takes time and never rushes you to finish the appt. We are extremely satisfied with our new choice of primary care provider!

Dr. Ward refused to see me after I went to get a second opinion with another PCP about my PE and DVT. Dr. Ward put me on an important anti-coagulate medication and I called to ask about my upcoming surgery which needs to happen quickly and was told he then got upset that I went for a second opinion with another PCP. He canceled all future and current appointments and refused to see me on account of “trust issues” with his patients, in which if he has trust issues with patients, he shouldn’t be seeing them at all, if he explodes over one visit with another PCP. Narcissistic and unprofessional, find another PCP, unfortunately one star is the lowest I was able to go. To Ms Najar, I had experienced the very same situation with another PCP in our area however, what I learned and what you may not realize is, Dr Ward was actually doing what was ethically right. Had he continued to see you, after your visit with the other PCP, billed your insurance, it would have been denied and you would have been stuck with a hefty bill. Please know I came here to leave a great review for Dr Ward and saw yours and felt the need to comment. On to my review of Dr Ward; I first saw him when I was an inpatient at HEB Hospital and at that time only wished I could have followed up with him as my PCP. When I found out he went into private practice, I was elated!! He is extremely caring, thorough and explains things on a level of understanding. I HIGHLY recommend him! P.S. It is my understanding from Nurse friends that he is highly respected throughout the medical professional community. My visit with Dr. Ward was my first experience with an internal medicine doctor for an annual physical. Dr. Ward has an excellent bedside manner and really took his time with me to get a thorough and detailed medical history. He made me feel very comfortable and answered my questions with very knowledgeable responses. He made sure a full blood panel was ordered and provided a prompt follow up with me on the results. His office is very centrally located and I have found it very easy to get an appointment when I need one. I have recommended Dr. Ward to my friends and family and will continue to do so. My doctor for 35 years retired. I had seen Dr. Ward at a conference and really wanted him to be my primary care. Transitioned to him, saw him a couple of times and then one day, with laryngitis, I call his office, twice to get an appointment, recording answered, both for appt and PA... No one ever called me back. I called the second day, still ill and got a human this time, and she said they had been working on a referral all day for me....For me? I had not seen, talked or asked for a referral in 6 months...then I was put on hold and no one had the decency to get back to me...I called one more time. They wanted to put me on hold and I said no....I just said for them to relay the message to Dr. Ward I will be looking for a new physician....A doctor can be GREAT, but if the office staff is noncaring, nonlistening and treated me like I was a burden....I will tell the good doctor good bye....It takes a team and if I cannot get to the captain, at 71 years, I need better care...Good bye

Dr. Ward is Awesome - He takes time to hear what Your saying and answers Your questions. He really cares. I would recommend Dr. Ward.

What an awesome Dr.!!!! He has treated my mother with such respect and is really concerned about her health. He is not on my insurance plan but if he was I would totally go to him. You can't go wrong with Dr. Ward!!!

Dr. Ward has always taken great care of me and my family. He has great bedside manners, polite and listens to your needs. He has great knowledge and makes sure you understand what is going on with your body. I highly recommend Dr. Ward. He is a great man.
