Richard H. Sandler

My son is a former patient who started seeing Dr. Sandler in Chicago. One of the "greatest" GI Physicians in the United States. As a Medical Professional myself, I know what knowledge, skills and qualities make an exceptional provider. Dr. Sandler has what it takes.

My daughter had upper abdominal pain. After seeing many doctors in the ER and 2 G.I. specialists, having my daughters gallbladder removed, endoscopy, HIDA scan, testing testing and more testing. We finally met Dr. Sandler, immediately he knew what to do, he knew what she had wrong with her. Thank God for him. After 6 months of pain and nausea, he figured out her problem. Receptionist was very rude to me for no reason at all, I was very polite she told me to fax you guys didn't give me the fax number and hung up without saying anything

I would not use Doctor Sandler. He never ordered one test for my child in over the two years we saw him. I followed all his instructions and nothing ever changed. I switched doctors and went one time. She ordered test that make complete sense. Then I realized how many test could of been ordered when we first started seeing him and how much easier these test would of been when my child was much younger. He could of very easily missed things and his excuse was good luck getting medicaid to cover it. Medicaid never turned anything for my child down ever. Which leads me to believe he is against medicaid. I highly do not recommend him.

Currently trying to leave a review where more see it because I had to search for this even. Dr. Sandler was very horrible with us for the 3rd time. Very condescending, unprofessional and uncaring all together. He had thrown little hissy fits anytime I tried to tell I more about what we needed for my son and explain further what the problem was. Look I went to medical school too and yet he's trying to be condescending to me and trying to treat me like iam dumb and don't know anything about my son

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Sandler for around 5 yrs & has several serious health issues. His bedside manner may be dry but he is very knowledgeable & informative. Whenever we call or email him, he responds within a matter of hrs. He makes recommendations for her plan of care, and follows up with "if that's okay". I never feel as if I do not have control over her treatment plan. He also always meets with us after her procedures to give us a summary of findings, so we are never left on edge.

He is rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. He got angry when I politely asked him if there was a way he could fill out paperwork so I could apply for FMLA. He also recommended a clean out for the 3rd time never reviewing it with me. When I asked questions, he got mad, flipped his computer away from me and told me I could just take my daughter to get a different procedure instead where they use a tube to resolve the issue. I left the office in tears and will NOT be following back up with again

No interest in what I had to say as aparent, he took offense when I question his desire to re do testing that were done in august and he seemed very judgmental on my choice to do integrative treatments for my daughter. This was my first time meeting this man and he just expected me to entrust him my child with no questions. He walked out on my family and I when I agreed with him that we were not getting anywhere and advised him that he was not answering my questions. Sarcastic &Condescending!

My son has a lot of medical complications and I have taken to a number of specialists including two GI Drs. I finally felt as though i was being heard and understood. It is right to the point and honest and after going to what seems like a hundred different Drs that exactly what you want. I am so grateful to have found him and am hopeful that we can finally get some answers!
