Dr. Richard George Pigeon

If it was possible, I would give this doctor zero stars he’s an absolute joke everything he did was for his benefit. I am still in pain after waiting six weeks for an appointment and then shots did absolutely nothing do yourself a favor and avoid this doctor.

Dr. Pigeon is very knowledgeable and very professional. Dr. Pigeon knows how to make his patients comfortable. When you see Dr. Pigeon's smile, you see hope!

Both my wife and I were thoroughly impressed with Dr.Pigeon and his assistant Beth. He had already reviewed the ER x-rays of my lower back injury, however he wanted his own set. Reviewed those, showed them to us and discussed his recommendations. Appointments and referrals were taken care of by Beth with minimum down time. Don Palmer

Dr Pigeon preformed surgery on my neck in two locations at two different times and did an amazing job. Even after 6 years post surgery all the metal implants he put in still look great on x-ray and MRI results. I recently have been having trouble with pain again and Dr Pigeon was able to identify and explain where the new pain is coming from and recommend some physical therapy to help fix the issue. He is an amazing person, physician, and technical professional at what he does. I was lucky to find such an amazing doctor and team with Dr Pigeon and OAWF.

Waited 40 minutes. I am in a lot of pain. Dr pigeon suggested an MRI. Didn't see any changes in my exray. Asked for a few pain pills to help when the pain shoots to a 10, which it occasionally does and he refused ????

Both Dr. Pigeon and nurse Beth are so easy to work with and very efficient. Enjoy their personalities and work ethic.

I have yet to be with a more thorough doctor!!! Dr. Pigeon’s exam was detailed & precise; his summary sent to my email is amazing! You can leave messages as well. The detail on the summary is amazing, covered everything! I have no questions remaining which leaves me very comforted; am printing this out to place in my medical folder as I am a former biology teacher, an ‘old fashioned girl’ who appreciates this fine student’s report!!! I only wish i’d found Dr. Pigeon earlier, but then, there’s nothing he cannot fix! Dr. Pigeon has a extreme attention to detail, safety and medical excellence. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday after a spinal fusion and it’s clear by the response of all the nurses, techs, PT’s and other hospital staff who worked with me, that Dr. Pigeon holds anyone who “touches” his patients to a very high standard. He is highly respected by those staffers and this attention to excellence and infection avoidance is much appreciated!

Go to BayCare! What an extreme letdown, we really believed in Dr pigeon after he agreed to take our son's case if we would change our review. We did so but he offered no assistance and said he agreed with the other workman's comp hack doctor. That the only option was an extended cage and bolts leaving him handicapped and unemployable if he insisted on getting surgery on his back. A typical denial comp doctor, like all the rest that have forgotten their hypocritical oath instead choosing political loyalty to who's paying them. Our son got off workman's comp after several months of living in absolute agony, and had an excellent almost 6 hour surgery done by an actual neurosurgeon and has no hardware bolts or cage. He has no work restraints and is back to full-time employment without pain. The office personal we’re great & pleasant. Dr. R. Pigeon worked fast from MRI to the diagnosis. And now it’s time for surgery.

I went to Dr Pigeon for a second opinion ref to chronic back pain. Dr Pigeon was extremely thorough in going over the mri and x-rays. I was extreme impressed with his demeanor, knowledge and treatment plan.

I went to the OAWF with some trepidation to see Richard Pigeon MD, PhD, and his staff. That quickly changed when I met his professional and gracious nurse who immediately put me at ease, stating what to expect throughout the visit. The radiologist was equally kind and caring as she explains positioned me for many X-rays. Meeting Dr Pigeon was the highlight of my visit. Dr Pigeon studiously pointed out many problems in my spine and discounted them all saying they couldn’t be bad enough to cause problems. But they have for years and I could’ve mapped them out before any imaging. He also told me that I did not have some issues that have been diagnosed and evaluated by multiple physicians. Overall extremely disappointed. Clearly he didn’t need another patient.

Dr Richard Pigeon has the highest possible ethical character when it comes to his patients. He is honest and very thorough. It may not be exactly what you want to hear, but count on it being on spot. He takes the time to explain the different procedures and possible outcomes while showing you the MRI image slices from different views. He doesn't push anything on you, rather arms you with the information needed to make your own decision. His entire staff are caring and just as professional. Dr Pigeon is not only a great surgeon, but an awesome person for sure!

Dr. Pigeon had clearly reviewed the tests, MRIs, and other opinions of related specialists. Recommendation was clear and proposed time for procedure within 10 days. Doctor Richard Pigeon and his staff are incredibly capable! I went to see the doctor with multiple issues throughout my Lumbar spine that included a horrible sciatica. After trying PT, and ESI treatments that failed Dr Pigeon performed surgery that has left me with a perfectly straight spine, restored disc spacings, and cured sciatic pain. Long-term intermittent symptoms of childhood scoliosis, coupled with a skiing injury and other overuse incidents led me to have Dr Pigeon review my MRI to determine whether surgery was needed to forestall permanent nerve damage. He did a complete MRI review, a history and physical exam, spinal and pelvic xrays, and to my delight recommended that I try epidural treatments now, and NOT choose surgery unless symptoms worsened! He recommended some actions to take to see if surgery would still be necessary. It is, scheduled for next month. His nurse Beth is really efficient and kind. I am in excellent hands with Dr Pigeon. Dr. Pigeon has performed three operations on my back. No one else will work on my back! Why three operations, the first one addressed a pain situation at that time. Dr. Pigeon at that time informed me as I aged more surgical correction will be required. He is a doctor that will not say, well lets try this! My wife and my self in consultation with Dr. Pigeon discussed in detail what could and what could not help my situation. He will not string you on with "lets just try this". No one else will work on my back! He is always very considerate and does not rush your visit. He always answers your questions in a manner that you throughly understand what is being conveyed. Would NEVER recommend Richard Pigeon. He's an arrogant narcissist. 4 months after my herniated disk surgery I started having the same pain as as before the surgery. When I went to Pigeon and suggested we do another MRI, he refused and said nothing was wrong. Another surgeon in his own practice referred me to a different DR. He had another MRI done and it showed that the disk that Pigeon had operated on was "a mess", and needed surgery again. Thank goodness I went to a different surgeon. Stay far away from Pigeon.. Because office computers were down, problems arose including wait time. It was an hour past my appointment time before I was called into the examination room. Everyone and everything from then on was professional, caring and encouraging. Dr Pigeon, medical assistant Beth and x-ray tech were thorough and clear in explanations and results. I was not rushed and able to ask questions of concern. I left 2 hours 20 minutes after appointment time feeling well cared for, well informed and hopeful. After spending 2 years going to several workers comp doctors he was the only doctor to correctly identify and correct my spinal injury. Extremely professional and caring doctor.

My wife drove 50 mins for an appt to see Dr Pigeon. He refused to see her because she has back injuries related to a car accident which was stated at the time the appt was set. Not very professional and very mean spirited. Two hours both there and back and the Dr wouldn’t visit her at all? Sad!

Very unprofessional. Through my 2 previous doctors under the bus. Stated that ACDF that was perform in 2016 was not necessary without reviewing my records from that year. This was before we were toe to toe as I questioned his comment. Yes in my face without the knowledge that I was in surgery for over 8 hours then put in a medically induced coma for 3 days because my Dr did not want me to move. Told me all I needed to do was exercise more. Even after the recent CT Scan report noted that the fusion failed. He told me it did not fail and my pain was not real. Also told me if I go to 10 different Drs I was get 10 different answers. Then stormed out of the door. Thank God my husband was with me and he is my witness. Unbelievable. A Gentleman Dr. Pigeion is not.

DO NOT go to doctor Pigeon. He performed a fusion in my lumbar area and told me I’d be playing tennis from 6 to 9 months. That was three years ago and I’m seeing another surgeon because the pain has never gone away and now I have huge other pain in my hips and lower back. Also, he is pompous and called me fat on my last appointment. I had gained some weight after the surgery. He was unbelievably rude on my last visit and then refused to see me after that.

Would Never refer anyone to Dr Pigeon

I would not refer Dr Pigeon to anyone. I was referred to him for a serious degenerative condition. On my second (and last) appointment he began screaming at me that I was too fat (size 14-16) and I had soft bones and he would not operate until I lost 50 pounds. I have never been treated this way by any physician. I suggest to anyone who is considering allowing him to operate on them that they reconsider. I found an orthopedic surgeon who successfully operated. Three weeks out I feel great.

It’s been several years since my surgery, everything still going well. Dr Pigeon has a terrific calm manner. He makes you feel very comfortable when talking to you. I would wait hours for this dr. I could not walk nor could I stand to even be touched before I went in for surgery. Was walking and out of pain except for the surgery site, right after surgery. A genius at what he does. Thank you Dr Pigeon for my life back.

Had to wait over an hour before I even got to see this physician. Saw him for a surgical consult for a ruptured disc only to be treated very unprofessionally. Once Dr. Pigeon found out that I'd already had a surgical consult with a competitor, his demeanor completely changed. Arrogant, condescending, hostile, unwilling to listen to his patient. This DR. showed no concern for his patient who was in excruciating pain from sitting for over an hour waiting to be seen. Will not recommend to anyone.

Wrong info given to me by this dr hurting me terribly. Shoukd have never had surgery feel like a robot now. Never will be the same. Please try conservative treatments. Dont listen to the route of epidurals and if they dont work to have someone cut you open and put all kimds of metal. Really that very rarely helps anyone. Still in the dark ages. Need a different mindset. These drs are not learning the real cause of pain. They will realize if they go through pain and then go through this

I met Dr. Pigeon for the first time yesterday and was very impressed with his honest and clear opinion of my back. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done due to the severity of my osteoarthritis in my spine but he explained everything to me so that I understood the reason why this was so. He even took the time to explain the results of my MRI as well as the x-rays that had just been taken. I never felt rushed and all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction.

Dr. Pigeon did a couple of kyphoplasty procedures on my grandma and was able to give her a full recovery. Before, she had sciatica and couldn't walk and now the sciatica is gone and she can walk with the aid of a walker! I definitely recommend going to Dr. Pigeon for any orthopaedic issues. Rest assured that Dr. Pigeon is one of the finest surgeon that I have ever known. No micro-surgery here, my back was a mess. I could hardly get out of bed in the morning and could not walk without pain. After the long surgery and a caring rehab team I am PAIN FREE. Thank you Dr. RICHARD PIGEON.

Spent a lot of time explaining my condition and going over the X-rays and MRI. Didn't seem to be rushing us out. Dr Pigeon was very nice, friendly, knowledgable, and had a great bedside manner. He made me very comfortable with him examining me; he was thorough and yet careful about hurting me during the exam.
