Dr. Richard Nauheim

Interesting interactions at this place. I brought my sibling here after an MVA where she sustained left orbital fractures and was due for an initial consult with Dr. Nauheim (per recommendation) after her discharge from South Nassau. Since the accident is obviously "no fault", a lot of issues regarding insurance and or claims. We did also hand them an insurance card since it was essentially demanded on arrival (fine) and it was clearly an AETNA card; however, the way the staff handled this situation was out of control and completely ghastly. She is under her Father's insurance and the company is --welfare fund co... the secretary then proceeds to ask "you're on welfare? I see welfare on this card and we don't take this". I say the card clearly states AETNA and this should never have been said out LOUD to a patient who is clearly in need. This woman saw two young Hispanic women and formulated her own uneducated, disgusting preconceived notion. How about educate yourself; they don't use the term "welfare" any longer, it's public assistance. You also never know what situation a person may be in, so do not judge. Anyway, we moved on from that to see Dr. N whom also seemed kind of confused as to why we were here (my sis thought she was seen by him in the ER). We went over everything and I had paperwork including scans which revealed her eye injury, while extensive, had not required maxillofacial surgical intervention, however, we did need an Opth MD to follow along with. It was dicey in the beginning as our interaction was also a little less than desirable but once he realized my girl had a Hyphema that would need to be monitored daily and some new eye drops, our interaction improved. Also, I think he realized I am a medical professional which I usually don't care to share. We let him know we would be on our way and follow along with someone closer to home. He was nice enough though and ultimately he did a thorough exam diagnosing and treating her with genuine concern. Interesting interactions at this place. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with this office! Excellent, professional staff that is always friendly and warm from the second you walk in the door. Dr. Nauheim is an amazing, thorough doctor. He takes his time with you and never makes you feel rushed. Highly recommend!

As a patient who had never undergone surgery before, I was naturally quite anxious about the removal of cataracts that massive doses of steroids taken in an attempt to regain sudden hearing loss in my right ear had exacerbated. Although I had heard from others who recommended Dr. Nauheim that they had the surgery under local anesthesia, Dr. Nauheim assured me that he could perform the cataract surgery in both eyes under general anesthesia. His calm assurance, thoroughness, and patience in answering my many questions before and after each procedure has made me a patient for life. Dr. Nauheim performed cataract surgery on both my eyes. Firstly, I would like to say that his easy going disposition put me at total ease which helped me through the process. He was thorough, precise and explained every detail of my surgery. As far as the procedure goes, Dr Nauheim performed the surgery perfectly with virtually no discomfort, leaving me with 20/20 vision. I found the receptionist to be nasty and very rude. They are not good at relying information to the patients. Horrible experience and a waste of time.

I am a new patient and found Dr Nauheim and his staff excellent in every way. I recently had cataract surgery and found Dr Nauheim to be highly competent, caring, informative, accessible and first rate . The staff is efficient ,friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this practice.

If you are in need of an eye dr, Dr Richard Nauheim of Merrick, NY is your guy. I am very anxious when it comes to my eyes,. As soon as I walked into the office I was greeted by friendly staff and was seen by Dr Nauheim right away, I immediately felt at ease. His “bedside manner” was both calming and compassionate. After a thorough exam in his clean and safe office, it turned out I required eye surgery which was perfectly performed a few weeks later. My vision is now near perfect and I will never need glasses again. Like his father before him, Dr Nauheim is one of the most highly rated Eye Doctors and Eye Surgeons and after receiving treatment from him and his amazing staff now I “see” why. “Look” no further. Excellent in every way. Highly recommended. My experiences with Dr. Nauheim and staff over many years and with cataract surgery in both eyes the last month have proven him and staff highly competent, caring, informative, accessible and first rate every step of the way. In particular, Dr. Nauheim took an extreme amount of additional time to research and compute all necessary factors to ensure the best possible outcome for my very complex situation in both eyes. Im not even a patient of Dr. Nauheim, but based on the phone call I had with him, he was able to politely refer me to a doctor who could treat me and I truly appreciate that. In the world we live in today, it is rare to find a doctor who is truly willing to share their insights to a patient in need, AT NO COST! I truly commend you Dr. Nauheim! Knowledge, fast, and good attitude

Both my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Nauheim for many years. He is very thorough, listens attentively , and best of all he has a great bedside manner. The office staff is great as well. Highly recommend!

I have been part of Dr. Nauheim's practice for almost 30 years! I could not recommend a physician or practice more than this one! If only more physicians cared and provided the quality of care that he did! He always goes above and beyond for me. I could not recommend a practice more then this one!

Dr. Nauheim is incredibly knowledgeable and smart. He has a fantastic bedside manner and makes you feel as though you are being taken care of. He has excellent follow-through and follow-up and cares about his patients. Stellar Doctor.

Dr nauheim is cocky and condescending. When my father's cataract surgery had complications he started stating his stats and how this never happens to him..but does to other doctors. I understand complications occur but don't stroke your ego at a time you should be empathetic

Have been a patient of Dr. Nauheim for many years, and have always been impressed by his professional approach. I recently had an infection in my eyelid and called Dr. Nauheim for advice. He extended his hours to make sure I was seen, evaluated and treated the infection and followed with a call to check my progress. Always appreciate his approach.

I was referred to Dr. Nauheim for a long over due routine eye exam. Very pleased to report that he performed the most thorough examination I have ever had. He spent almost an hour with me conducting numerous tests using state of the art equipment. My new glasses are helping me see much better than I have in years. Thank you Dr. Nauheim.

I recently had a consult with Dr. Nauheim for a corneal abrasion that was not healing properly. Another MD suggested an expensive procedure not covered by insurance. I found Dr. Nauheim to be extremely patient and he took a lot of time to explain alternative options as well as research that suggested the procedure recommended by the other physician had little efficacy. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to use him again in the future.

Dr. Nauheim is a phenomenal physician! I always know I am in great hands as I trust his opinion and ability completely. I have a very rare eye condition that no other doctor was able to identify and diagnose correctly; Dr. Nauheim knew exactly what it was at first glance and treated my symptoms appropriately.
